Thanks for this . I've been eyeing this for a while but I've spent too much modding the trx4m bronco and never even use it..i now wont think of this anymore
When considering whether an ESC can use a lipo/nimh, here are a few things to consider: 1) Does the manual discretely call it out? Under section 3 of the specs, it only shows lipo 2S-3S. BUT - that is OK. The ESC doesn't actually care where it gets voltage from - it just wants voltage. 2) Does it have a low-voltage cutoff? If you want to run lipo - it is VERY important for an ESC to have low voltage cutoff. But if you want to run nimh, you need to be able to turn OFF low voltage cutoff. Otherwise it will artificially trigger it. Checking section 5.2 of the manual - it does appear low voltage cutoff can be disabled. SO - CAN the Hobbywing 10BL120 g2 use a nimh battery? Yes - it will operate. However - I do believe this will be a temporary solution. Hitting turbo & boost with a nimh battery will drain that battery FAST. You can get this esc, use it with a nimh battery...until you later upgrade to lipo batteries.
@@RoadsideRC thank you so much for the help. I can save some money for now knowing I don't necessarily need to upgrade to a lipo pack right away. I could've just disable boost when using the car at home and reprogram it at the track
Thanks for your thoughts on this. Any thoughts on doing a shootout comparing the mini monster trucks you have? :) Can you run the Traxxas on 3S? People figured out the Redcat can take 3S which makes it fast enough to have fun with.
Hello! My understanding is this truck will NOT run on 3S - really unfortunate as that would be a big help. There is a Furitek brushless upgrade for it though! Yes - I need to get the Losi LMT - and then do a 4-way battle of the mini rc monster trucks!
The body looks good. The width isn't bad if you think of it as a pickup truck somebody lifted and put cane tires on but left the stock axles. My cousin used to have a k10 with a 12" lift and 44" swampers, looked about the same. All that said, the trx4mt would make a good shelf queen 🤘🍻🤘
Its a shame they did this rig so dirty, esp since the Maxx Smasher was amazing. I saw others saying the same basic things, but everyone agreed once you upgraded the motor it started to come alive. I could see putting a AM32/outrunner in it from HH :D
honest appraisal. I was actually looking forward to this release as a possible segway into the 1/18th arena for me. Scratch that. Not that I mind modding stuff, but it shouldn't be a necessity out of the box. Disappointing. This isn't 1995. At a minimum it should have stiffer links and stupid power. Donuts are life for a MT.
Those tires, all i could hear every jump is a squeaky dog toy! I wonder what it would take moneywise to mod a normal trx4 to go monster truck style, without the squeaky tires, and if it would be feasible economicaly instead of buying the trx4mt if you really wanted a trx4m as a monster truck
Yes! I think that is why Traxxas released the 4MT - a lot of folks were putting JConcepts 1/24 tires on their TRX-4M crawlers and using longer shocks. Done! A LOT cheaper than buying this truck.
Maybe worst vehicle Traxxas has put out, so slow, you need to do slow mo video to kinda make it look ok. Most MT use unlocked diffs so even with more power it will drive like crap. Best advice, don't bother.
If Traxxas made their vehicles durable and fun out of the box, they couldn’t sell fanboys all those sweet, sweet upgrades $$$.
Ha! Solid point.
That tire squeak got my doggo's attention!🤣
Ha!
The d6 idler gear released yesterday cant wait to see your LRR setup. Side note this vid was epic
Thanks!
Yes - all of my parts came in now. I think the idler gear setup is going to be the way to go.

Glad I could help!
10:04 there is a Traxxas brushless set up for them now. Not the only option but it’s an option 😂
Good point!
lol yes the squeaking is very noticeable
Dude do nimh packs work with the HB 10BL120 G2? Cause the manual doesn't specifically specify that it isn't incompatible

I got the furytek drop in out runner system in my trx4m. F-150 high trail.works great.can use stock battery
Awesome - is it this setup? alnk.to/flxxpUg
Did you need to buy a Traxxas receiver?
@ .they have a whole setup with a radio.that setup would need a receiver and radio.the Bluetooth works great with the esc
@GhostRider-ii7tz Thanks!

@@RoadsideRC That would be awesome! I subscribe so if you make it I'll definitely watch :)

I agree - kind of the "original monster truck" - not really a modern-day monster truck.
@RoadsideRC yup 🤘y'all have a badass day🤘

Yes - a motor/esc swap, add width, better shocks = a fun truck!
It looks great, but one have to invest another 300 bucks to get the rig up to that funlevel .
Agree 100%
Classic Trashsuxx
The one thing I could previously say about Traxxas is they had good plastic. Now they just make nice looking bodies on kinda junk vehicles.
Yes - the rest of the rc manufacturers have certainly caught up.
Unfortunately it looks very booring to drive and this very annoying sound from tires makes me grazy.🤯 Looks good tho.
Yes - I think that is the truth.

100% agree!
Did anyone notice he said the links are made of spaghetti,,,, and his shirt said RoadSide rc chef lol
I'm cooking here! :)
Looks like a baby Clod Buster
Yes it does!
Yes the same old school chevy body, but nothing like a clod!

Well , that's a Traxxas, the usual flaws, good body and that's it
Unfortunately, yes.
But the question is.. does it drift? ahah😜
It refuses to! :)
That's how they make money. You buy aluminum parts instead of plastic ones 😅
This is true!
Traxxass... LoL! 😂
To me, this is another fail for traxxas.

Yes - really unfortunate. I was hoping for more from this truck!
