I don't ever hear anyone talk about the fact the Bulls the next season in 1996-97 finished with a record of (69-13). And... while resting players with some nagging injuries, the Bulls lost 3 of the their last 4 games including the season finale by 2 points that season. That is how close this team was to back to back 70-win seasons. During the telecast they said it best. Everyone on the Bulls knew their own role and did not deviate from the system of TEAM basketball. A marvelous unselfish team with 3 HOF players, the greatest player of all-time, and a great supporting cast especially the x-factor Tony Kukoc. I still can't believe Bulls owner Jerry Reinsdorf didn't do whatever it took to bring this team back for another season in 1998-99. What a travesty! You will never see another TEAM like this again.
I will never understand why they didn’t let them defend their title and go on for 2-5 more years . I’m sure Kerr, kukoc, Rodman , pippen , longely, Harper , bill we’re going to come back. I don’t understand the urgency to rebuild the dynasty when you’re current roster was performing so well at an older age. Jerry really destroyed his relationship with Phil which was also unfortunate.
Jordan and Magic are back is what made all the head lines and the hoopla but it was the Scottie Pippen show. This period of time will always go down in the annals of times as far as the golden age of the NBA.
I must say Pippen used to be 'the silent Pippen"...always doing 20/7/7 and helping the team on the progress...this kinda player will never be seen on another squad, because this regularity nowadays, is only for the 'team star'...there's a lot to learn from that Bulls' squad, and something is still 'forgotten' about Pippen/Kukoc/Kerr triplet.
GOSH1406 I agree. It really takes a great combination of scottie choosing to stay and mj taking a pay cut and showing as well as expressing verbally that he appreciates scottie and only wants to play if scottie is there. They were totally unselfish once they started winning.
Man was that Bulls team was special, 41-3 after this game at that point, they just absolutely ran roughshod through the NBA that entire season, unbelievable. I remember watching that game on TNT on a friday night, with Magic returning to face MJ,Pip,Worm and the Bulls, it was absolutely electric. Magic paying homage to the Bulls during that interview saying how the Bulls squad reminded him of the 80's Celtics and his Showtime Lakers squad, showing nothing but class and respect man.

the perfect squad. a lot of 3.5/4 stars players, doing their best. MJ was just the cherry on that cake. The perfect team, the perfect tatics, perfect leader. 72-10, amazing year Bulls! (for sure, amazing Magic Johnson...unlucky on that high-grade game - just his second after the comeback)
Pippen put on the full display of talents in this game. The outside shot, the post game, the spectacular moves. When his game was on he was a beautiful player to watch. The post move at 1:39 is so smooth it's ridiculous. The headfakes, the footwork. This is the kind of shit Lebron needs to be watching and developing.
And 1:21 is Dennis just being Dennis. He welcomes Magic back in his own way lol. And the cool thing about that is Magic completely understands and doesn't get upset about it. Dennis respects that and gives Magic a little tap @ 1:32. When Rodman was doing the same stuff to guys like Alonzo Mourning and Karl Malone back in the day they were losing their composure
sure you can when your defense is excellent. defense win titles and Jordan played with some of the best defenders of all time . you don't just win with a bunch of flashy scoring . Jordan always had a decent to great team and coach
During this 72-10 season Jordan and Kerr was the only 2 Bulls player to play in all 82 games Toni Kukoc played in 81, Ron Harper 80, Pippen 77, Rodman 64 and Longley 62. as much as Rodman contributed to this team in only 62 games Jud Buechler, Randy Brown, and Bill Wennington played in more games. I would like to know what this team would have done with a full squad during that 1996 season. Would it have still be 72 wins (which will never be done again) or could it have been 75 wins 77, or quite possibly even 80?
Harper and Kukoc were also both injured in the playoffs and Finals. Kukoc missed 3 games vs the Knicks because of back injury and Harper played only 1 minute in Game 3 and 5 of the Finals because of knee injury, and only 13 minutes in Game 4 They weren't healthy in the playoffs and still went 15-3 with key players being injured in all 3 of those losses.

Ya Michael leaving those years really develop pippen into a complete player i mean he was but even more so. Phil put him in the post where he use to put michael and he developed that lil jump hook and with his length he was unstopable down there. With Michael back, he went out there and developt that 3 pointer they really were unstopable.
Aha did you hear what Magic said - *best passing team*? And that is why the Thunder will not win the 2012 NBA title. Good guys, likeable players, but too much one-on-one play. The Heat had that problem last year and still have it at times, but they've improved. Now, everything that Magic mentions also applies to this year's Bulls. Best passing, defense, and will. And this guy named Derrick Rose. I heard he's good.
This was the game where Magic told Jimmy Kimmel last year that in the locker room long after it ended, MJ pulled him aside and asked to talk to him privately. But instead of offering encouragement or support which was what Magic was expecting, Jordan told him that he was fat and slow, that the Lakers weren't a championship contender, and that if he were him, he would seriously consider going back into retirement to avoid embarrassing himself and tarnishing his legacy.
