The Relay cases ars usually faced with the doors to the road, and they contain flasher relays, gate relays, bell relays, gate light relays, gate motor relays, and more
I place the green atls triggers for the grade crossing gates based on track speed, eg: train speed of 10mph = 370 feet trigger distance from center of crossing, 20mph = 720 feet, 30mph = 1050 feet, etc. I like to at least have the gates down for 5-10 seconds before the train crosses the road. But with some trial and error testing is what it's going to take. Thanks for mentioning me in this video. Love your work.
Good to know! Thanks for that info, it'll definitely be useful in the future. I wish there was a way to set up the crossings so that if the train stopped or reversed they'd go back up. Even a manual way to open up the crossing would be nice. Sorry I didn't mention your name specifically. I wasn't sure if you prefered your JR name or your username here.
No problem with the name. I'm actually no longer a team member with JR but still work with them off and on. I think most people know me as my Auran username, socalwb909 (kuid:334896:). I know of two traffic stoppers. I use the one from boat. And yes, like you described, cars do get stuck in the middle of the stoppers. I'll have to get you more info once I get home from work. I'll describe to you how I set up all my grade crossings and see if that helps you at all. It's a bit of a process but it works. As far as I know, there is no time-out feature for the gates. Depending on the trigger setup, the train will have to hit all triggers to make the gates go up and down. Depending on the situation, while switching, moving cars on or around a grade crossing, more than likely the gates will get stuck down by time you leave the area. I haven't found a remedy for this yet. Might be something to mention to boat about his assets, seeing if he could add a time-out feature to his script.
I also wanted to mention about your track spline placement. while in a middle curve and you have to have a switch, just like in the beginning of your video, it works a lot better to have a straight piece of track before the junction. I'll have to show you some pics how I overcame this. I don't message on youtube a lot, but if there's a way to pm me your email I can provide pics and descriptions.
I mentioned in one of your other videos the TRC Assets by vincentrh. They will do all you have mentioned. They will turn off if the train stops short of the crossing. They turn off if the train backs up. They use a simple trigger and naming system that is really easy to setup. Here is his site: sites.google.com/site/trcv2english/0-introduction
I know what you're talking about and that's usually what I try to do. I didn't work in this situation because the curve was so tight. It just looked like a bump in the track. My email is ApproachMediumYT@gmail.com that's the email associated with Skype too if that's easier for you to chat.
Since you asked, according to the maker of Trainz "FAQ", the "KUID" is the acronym for "Koolthingz Unique IDentifier". The first part of the KUID is the creator's unique ID which is the first set of numbers after the first : . Then the second set of number (after the second : is the number for the item you created and maybe a version number.
Hello Approach Medium the layout is looking very good and keep up the good work, with the fiddle yard maybe you could put a town scene on top to go with the station.
You should take out the scrapyard fence closest to the layout edge so it's easier to see the details - I try to avoid putting anything in that blocks the trains from view in front of the track.
I think this whole video took me about one afternoon to record, so maybe 4-5 hours of building. Maybe a little less. It's hard to say because I'll build for a bit then take a break before coming back.
Looking like within the next couple of months I should be able to have it completed. I'll probably host it myself rather than include it on the Download Station.

Great job!! Just skimmed it; but will dig in tonight. It's "meeting's Fry Daye".

lol that's an interesting acronym indeed! I'll have to remember to mention that in my next video.

From Ish6 (trainz forum) -- Excellent Tutorial --- Thank you!
Thanks, Ish! I recognize you from the forums. Good to see you here too :-)
U Welcome, sir! Keep up the good work!
The boxes near grade crossing control the crossing
I think
You should take out the scrapyard fence closest to the layout edge so it's easier to see the details - I try to avoid putting anything in that blocks the trains from view in front of the track.
Good thinking. I'll see how it looks.
yes your back
:-D
did you hit a thousand Subs congrats man you're so lucky
Yes!!!!!
good job
Approach medium.I CAN HERE IT
m8 the purpose of relay boxes is to control the signals that come from the rail detectors.
Nice one, Joe. I'm curious how long it took you in real-time to finish the scrapyard.
I think this whole video took me about one afternoon to record, so maybe 4-5 hours of building. Maybe a little less. It's hard to say because I'll build for a bit then take a break before coming back.
Approuch Medium,
The Scrap Yard, the final resting place for retired locomotives......
XD
That's what I say XD!
I got on Jr and it said those armed crossings are for ts12 and I have TANE
TS12 and newer
when this is done will I be able to download this on Trainz a new era?
Looking like within the next couple of months I should be able to have it completed. I'll probably host it myself rather than include it on the Download Station.
Will this route be released once it is completed?
It's on the way
I just position my relay boxes any direction not facing the tracks :P
how do you roll the car assets on here side
like you did in the scrap yard
Use the rotate tool and hold shift
Would it be a sin to use both Yarn and AASHOTO roads? lol
just tink about the rail detectors as ATLS triggers
you did it
:-)
are you going to make a special video for 1000 subs
I made one but I might reshoot it if I have time. Will probably post tomorrow just in case I lose a few subs overnight.
I see but you'll never lose me as a sub
;-)
How do you roll objects?
Hold shift
What town are you moving to?
Western NY. I'd rather not say specifically right now though.
OK I was just wondering if you were moving into Northern NY, because I live there.
Gotcha. No I'll be out by the Great Lakes.
OK. Good places to go railfanning, including Buffalo.
That's what I hear. I'm looking forward to getting after it once I get settled in and the weather begins to get better (if it ever does at this point)
1000 sub yes
W w w w w o o o o w w w that's amazing
