Thanks for having me out Trott! Seeing my swing on camera is very eye opening lol. Lots to work on. Gonna have to sneak back for an update at the end of the year!
Trottie is a fricken legend !! He’s on a whole nother level when it comes to clubfitting!!!! “All I needed to see was three swings” fricken mean brother !! Thank you
I went through something very similar over my four years of playing. Got fit for 790s after I broke 80 as a treat. Started progressing rapidly and got down to upper single digits. My play plateaued within a year battling long left misses (upright irons, shaft too light). Realized my issue and found myself in a blade/cb combo set with kbs tour 120 stiff cut 1/4 inch short (I’m short with long arms). Now down to a 2 index with a PB round of -1. I think it’s important for people to see the impact that proper equipment has on
I dream to have a fitter like Trottie! Wish I had the means to book one with the man. He’s just built different. Got fitted 4 months ago after a 15 year break from the game(married, kids, etc kept me away), guy was just throwing different irons at me, barely did anything with shafts, it was pretty much a nightmare. I basically fit myself in the end, cause all he did was put me into a set sitting on the rack, in hopes I left with them that day. So instead I took the best two irons I hit that day, picked one and then figured out the shaft on my own. The only positive from that fitting, is now that Ive been back for 4 months now, and playing and practicing more than ever, I much more in tune with everything out there today and I’ll be able to be the ceo of my game the next time. I do love my 790s, but I’m already at a point where I should move into 770. Problem is I just spent 1600 on my irons 4 months ago, along with an entire new bag. So after spending basically 5k this summer, I’m not about to ho drop another 1600 on 770s right now. Sure I could sell my irons, but people just aren’t buying stuff right now, and the ones that are, will just go get brand new stuff. Probably end up waiting till next spring to do something about it at this point. All I can say to others out there that are in a similar situation as I was in May, really do you research and find a very well respected fitter, it’s worth it’s weight in gold!
Awesome fitting as always and definitely my favorite videos. I did my fitting with Dave at KBS in Carlsbad after seeing your video about fitting check-up. Originally got into $ taper 130x but something didn’t feel right but Dave fit me into KBS tour V ten 115 x proto which I guess aren’t even out yet… Needed something a bit lighter with less spin even though I swing 7 iron at 95 mph and irons feel dialed now! Thanks, Trottie
I have the same issues as he had, almost exactly: always hitting out of the toe. I’m going to try all those drills. Plus I’m a lefty, so those boys on the green would have been in the danger zone. 🤙😂🤙
Great content Trottie, love your videos and good fitting is so important. I’m a senior handicap varies between 15-18 and was fitted with a full bag of Stealth great clubs, went from 22 to 15 handicap and at the age of 74 just shot my best round of 83 nett 64 and 44 Stableford points. Now the big decision do I move to QI irons or P790. As a senior I have a swing speed in the seventies but launch the ball high naturally. Those new wedges look great too again MG4 or high toe? My old favourite were the ATV wedges.
I love it when you do these fitting videos. It is so interesting. It is my favorite content that you do, club fitting. I would really like to see more fittings with average golfers.
I just had an iron fitting. I still have my Tommy Armour 855s i bought in 1995. After going through the fitting nothing that he had me hit was any better than what i hit my Tommy's. Is this normal? I felt like i should have hit newer irons way better.
@trottie, great video as always. Seeing you put a few guys in the P770/P7CB combo set recently. So question for you. At what point in a players game would you recommend switching to a P770?
How fun would a fitting with Trott be? Seems like a game transformer. Ready to move into a better set of sticks from my current Cobra Aerojets and man, think Trottie would get me ultimately dialed!
Conversation was based on stats and hitting a green at 190 yards out with a 6i required something a little more forgiving. th-cam.com/video/y1Tt_0IUzrc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=HHljDfaVM-8gelJJ Always worth a watch when discussing combo sets
I had that exact conversation literally an hour ago with KBS. I'm looking into it. I just go with what's always been on offer to me which is pretty much everything when on tour but I am aware that the line up doesn't have everything I reach for. I'm checking and thanks for raising the point
Oh gees we should have listed that, sorry mate. I don't have the exact but the average was 164 yds and then it jumped up into mid 170's. Launch is the key though & then obv spin and both those numbers also moved
Hey Trottie. I am a taller golfer at 6’7 and most of the fitting places around me only carry std length or lightweight shafts at my length. What would you suggest to do to get the shafts fit for my p7cb irons?
@@youngunz42 why are you unsure with the lighter deadweight? You have to accept a higher swing weight at a longer length but want to try and keep the overall weight down if you can
@@trottiegolf I am okay with lighter overall weight which is more than likely the issue. When I say they carry light shafts it’s like 80-90g reg flex in +1”. I am curious in trying shafts like the KBS tour V
As a 12 handicap I’d feel cheated if I was fit after 3-4 balls, I feel a pro hits their shit ever time so won’t change. I will hit 3 different shots in say 6 swings. What am I missing?
The interview process is crucial. I'd made my decision on spec within 3 shots, a tour player will generally give feedback after 1. A piece that was cut from this video is that we discussed how we will go through the testing process but your specification based on what I've seen in "my head" is done..... and I didn't move from it so my early thoughts proved to be right. As a 12 hcp I'd do the same with you. We would test, cover what you like, why you like it and work through it as a team. On tour you see guys week in week out, it's totally different. Equipment changes based on many factors but a consistent is often keeping the ball count down. Time testing clubs is time away from tournament prep. Hence why it's so rare you get to do a lot on location with the best guys because they're always working ahead of time.
He mentions early in the video they are PXG irons (and "equivalent to P790"), and they look like 0311 (Gen 4 I think?) irons with the dark finish if you zoom in and look close
@@jaideejj5991does it include the clubs? If so, I get that. They don’t want people just showing up that aren’t going to get clubs. The $5k probably locks you in
