As an ISTP who has a plethora of ENFPs that flock to me, he isn't wrong. ENFPs are awesome but when they get into their little me mode it's aggravating. When they are thinking of others without being on the defensive like everyone is going to screw them over, that is where they shine. But every ENFP I've shown his videos about them says the same lol.

Tfw ENTPs have Fi blindspot and can't necessarily register their own bias; and I think we all know how bias skews cognition yes.

I (INFJ) think the ENFP's do not understand what C.S. is referring to.
ENFP's must *always* remember that judgement begins at home; this is a particular characteristic implicit in ENFP's.
ENFP/Fi confuses the truth of logical reasoning; it is incorrect to interpret C.S.'s "bad vibes" (hurt ENFP/Fi) as meaning ENFP's are "bad" nor "immature", etc.
ENFP's are good at journalistic observations of others but they *need* to let others in the community perform *judgements;* ENFP's should learn to judge *themselves* (based upon their behaviour and their values) and *not* others.

Good lord. I really can't thank you enough for the way you get real honest about ENFP depravity. Almost everybody treats ENFPs with kid gloves. They only talk about us in the most glowing of terms and say that we're "magical," or some such thing. When you mentioned the ENFP who started creating fake accounts, I shuddered, because I did something similar once. In a fit of rage, I once used different alts on Twitter to insult somebody with the worst things I could think of. To this day, it embarrasses me tremendously to even recall it. I am one of the nicest/most charitable people when I am aligned and feeling good, but the risk of going bad is always there. Great video. A lot of ENFPs aren't going to be able to face the music, but I personally applaud you for keeping it real. It gives me further incentive to work on myself to prevent the depravity from coming out again.

INFP in a relationship with ENFP here. We DO motivate each other, we DO comfort each other and we DO speak our minds and believes and everything... its the best and deepest relationship I ever had. Must say that we are both pretty "grown up" healthy types, so that we know ourselfs and what we want and do show that to others.. I dont think that this realtionship would have worked 10 years ago when each one of us (exspecially me) was still searching about what matters in life.

I’m actually relieved that there is an explanation for my angry outbursts. Many online descriptions sugar coat ENFP traits like we’re these bubbly wanderfluffs. I’ve had a bad temper that I needed to take ownership of and accountability for through anger management counseling. It helps no one to only be built up constantly. It’s through huge mistakes in my life that were called out mercilessly, that I was able to grow.

We don’t want to go there, but ENFPs that have been screwed over too many times will completely throw away feeling and see red.

I'm an ENFP and my favorite personality type is INFP. All my closest friends are INFPs (or ENFPs), we are all open minded and accepting, all have interests in culture, arts, society, human emotions. Not very "productive" together, but our beliefs do not match with capitalistic ones I would say. We are all dreamers, feelers, and create a world of our own, a language of our own. We laugh and joke like children and have deep end meaningful conversations. My relationships / friendships with INFPs are the most intense, meaningful and deep connections I have ever experienced.
The majority of the people in my friend group are diplomats (we all met randomly, never worked or went to school together, just met randomly and clicked so kept on seeing one another and introducing each other to our mutual friends. Became a friend group over time, all kind of insane, accepting and supportive of one another, with a deep desire to connect and experience meaningful relationships and love).
Idk... Just sounds really weird to me that there would be such an incompatibility between INFPs and ENFPs.

It is interesting that you infer that IQ tests are biased more towards Te types. Considering the abstract nature of IQ tests, and how some questions are formulated, I would say that Ti users should be able to score quite well on it. In fact, there has been some data on that, which states that the ones with the highest IQ according to the MBTI are the INTPs. Also, how do IQ tests follow ethos more than logos? The questions are usually based on logical patterns (if this is this, then what is this?). As far as I know, ethos is based on credibility/trust. To score high on an IQ test, there is no requirement to trust on a source. All we do is to deduct which answer would be the most logical one, according to the pattern given.

Interesting. My closest friends are INTPs/ENTPs. The only other type I seem to get along with are ESTPs and sometimes some ESFPs - though I interact with both in a very superficial manner(mostly when just looking for people to have fun or party with). I literally cannot get along with any other sensing types. Their brains seem to be wired in a completely different way I cant grasp and I have had MANY of them label me 'CRAZY or WEIRD' whenever I strike up any conversation with them. I actively avoid all SJs in particular, and generally seem to have trouble with all types that lead with a judging function except INTPs.

My Mother is a depraved ENFP and I am a turbulant INTJ. I am totally on-board with Joseph with this one. Obviously I have somewhat of an emotional connection with Mom, but as a extreme INTJ it is a very turbulent connection. I refuse to submit to her desire to be my overlord, or subjugate me like a dog. Actually she treats her actual dogs better than she treats me most of the time. It drives her hysterically insane every time I do not cave into her tyrannical will. She projects all of her psychotic traits on to me as insults to try to break me down. Like as she actively terrorizes/abuses you she will simultaneously accuse you of being abusive, its truly spectacular. If she was not family I would stay as far away from her as possible. ENFP's are inclined to be emotionally abusive tyrannical terrorists, with zero rational other than what they FEEL in the moment. I absolutely cannot stand the nature of a depraved ENFP, their moral relativity and rapid hysteric emotional reactivity is the most dangerous thing I have ever witnessed in a human being. Like little waves on a beach they slowly erode your self worth until you are nothing left but a empty husk of a person. Onlookers see the little waves as insignificant but over time they do real damage to the person they are eroding. Its dangerous because they sneak up on other people with kindness and their victims rarely see the danger coming. Its like one day you wake up to find the ENFP standing over you with a giant fishing hook through your neck where they proceed to yank you around as they see fit. You are not going to get the hook out unless you tear it out, which will be catastrophic. She screams, yells, throws tantrums, is psychologically abusive, as well as extremely physically abusive to us when we were children, yet when the phone rings she immediately switches to this sweet endearing personality for the phone call. I am not worried by many personality types, it is difficult to intimidate me, but I do not underestimate the level of desolation that ENFP's are capable of. Subjugate you to their will and desire is their ethos. They are the direct antithesis of integrity and every moral value that I firmly hold. I am sure there are many good ENFP's out there, but I am still very cautious about keeping firm boundaries around them. I know I cannot judge all ENFP's by one individual, but damn if they don't have me on guard at all times.

Not a excuse though, whatever type she is you are the one responsable as a parent. I know where she gets it from, i learned myself not to project my blame at people. When someone is mad at you, a lot of people get mad in return. If you take the extra step to try and look what you did wrong it can change an arguement really easily. But i have also found that i am not at all a family person. You should give her some space, and try to make her find out herself what she did wrong. But i do pity you, i find myself absolutely unbearable.

Another reason why ENFPs are so prevelent in Mensa is because ENFPs are the most prevalent intuitive types in society (about 8% of people with it being the 3rd most common type for women of the 16). The average intuitive does much better than the average sensor in IQ tests. "but sensors are smart"!! It is also true that you also see a lot of ISTJs in Mensa. However ISTJs are the most common MBTI in some studies, and they are usually pretty smart SJ type. Of course you will see lots of ISTJs. Intuitives are rare...EXCEPT for ENFP. ENFPs are everywhere and are the most common intuitive type. This is why you see so many in Mensa.
Judging IQ intelligence of a type by looking at how common they are in mensa is not a good way. When you look at percentage in society to percentage in mensa you will find INTXs take the prize. No I am not an INTX. I am an ENTP. However, I do dangerously ride the line of ENTP and INTP. I'm not trying to defend my type as smarter. I'm just correcting peoples confusion. Statistics are great, but oftentimes they are used to deceive people when not analyzed correctly and completely. Many people don't analyze statistics correctly and completely.
Truth is there are other things other MBTI types are good at (other types of intelligence), but ON AVERAGE the introverted analysts (INTXs), are the smarter (capability to learn and understand academics) types. INTXs usually have worse social intelligence than most other types, (inferior Fe and PoLR Fe are probably to blame) but academically they dominate.

I usually score high in IQ tests but I always get 10/10 on the logic part.
I think a lot of people doesnt realize that our Ne hero can actually be a form of intelligence if its used properly.
I can easially pick up patterns and use them for my own benefit or find ways to use them (Te I guess), I am also a great problem solver.
I am starting to think that IQ and types have little to do with each other. Personality types are like filters you see life through, it sets your priorities and your insecurities, what you enjoy and what you have trouble dealing with. Your type may help you to be more objective than some other type or to prioritize logic over feelings, but that logic can be wrong and not very useful.
Same with feelings, if you're prioritizing morals and thise are wrong you're still going to be a bad person, and someone who has Fi last but has the good morals will still be more moral than you are.
The way I see it is ppl with different personality types are like kids in a school project, they were all given tasks based on what they are most comfy with/like, but just because kid A got task X doesnt because they like it doesnt mean kid B or C cant be better at it than them. You never know. Because genetics and biology, lifestyle and the way you were raised play a role in it.

Hey, ESTP here I think you're analysis of enfp-estp is very interesting, since many (too many?)of my good friends have been Enfps as well as an enfp female who I believe has been pursuing a relationship with me for a while but like you said they're Ne really overwhelms my Ni alot of the time making me indecisive in establishing romantic relations especially since I'm 90% sure if I asked her out she would say yes in a heartbeat but that 10% uncertainty is really scary...

    • @CSJoseph

Its a good romantic relationship, just make sure she stays loyal. Si inferior isn't loyal to just anyone. You really have to have her pegged. But if she desires you already, then its not going to be a big deal. Besides, as an ESTP you already are the archetypical man's man, aka alpha.

Haha I love seeing you rant about us ENFPs - it's all painfully true and so insightful! We can be like petulant children who won't shut up about the cocktail of information we acquire from other people and usually need to be guided on how to apply it without ignoring truth. Once I start considering entrepreneurship, I notice that the monetary pay-off becomes like a drug and the selfishness and arrogance starts to manifest. This is why I stick to the arts predominantly and I'm surprised you haven't mentioned examples of ENFP artists, writers, musicians etc. I find that ENFPs consult the Fe critic in themselves more when being creative and that it's easier for ENFPs to climb four mountains rather than just one since they are a Starter type and all. I wonder how other ENFPs feel about this? (Thanks for your videos Chase, they're life-changing- yes that was the typical ENFP bid for adulation, I hate me too, but it's also sincere)

I honestly believe you are talking about our closely related esfp brethren..not the enfp. At least from my perspective, no one has to remind me to care about people unless they raise their voice at me or call me names or disparage me. Even then I have to be tired or it has to be unexpected. Otherwise I love people and love to help. I think many enfps could probably relate to that...esfps are similar but I feel like sometimes there extroverted sensing gets them in trouble. They can get wrapped up in material objects and experiences and since they know people so well, sometimes I feel like they get wrapped up in how to use people to get those things. I like esfps but I feel like I cant be my true self around them because of that. But I have noticed esfps get mistyped as enfps quite a bit...just as one difference to look for, enfps look more like inattentive adhd versus esfps look like hyperactive adhd lol

This is my second video I've watched of yours about ENFP. I am an ENFP and I think you're funny and not negative. I have a friend who is an ENTP and we get along great. I would NEVER have done the Reddit thing but I can see how it would happen because ENFP's are all about personal branding and reputation. As with anything it's easy to see how a trait that could be used for good can also be used in a negative, shady way. With my ENTP friend, we just had to agree to disagree and focus on the parts of our lives and personalities that we do vibe with - and there are a lot. We have similar interests, for example. The one thing I need to do is avoid heated discussions with him. He loves to play devil's advocate and it confuses me because I can't actually tell all the time what his real opinion it is.

I have taken quite a number of tests and all of them have typed me as an ENFP. I also can definitely see how the cognitive functions emerge in my psyche in terms of hero extroverted intuition, parent introverted feeling, child extroverted thinking and inferior introverted sensing. All that being said, I have found empirically that I don't get along very well with the xSTP's that I have met because my mind is always in the future and I become pretty frustrated with their live in the moment attitude. Furthermore, I get along with the xNTPs in my life very well and I love their ability to see both sides and offer balanced insight on most matters. I am actually dating an INTP and it's the happiest and healthiest relationship I've been involved with. Other than that, I love your videos and find them VERY insightful. Hey, so right I have a question... well more like an observation that I would like your insight on.
I am an ENFP and my new husband is an ISTP. Therefore, I have been learning everything I can about our two types. I started studying so hard because I couldn't figure out why I adore him so much but when things get hard I totally hate him.
But then I noticed that yes his normal self is 3rd on my good list and his best self is second on my good list and my normal self is 3rd on his good list and my best self is 2nd on his good list.
However, both our shadows and evil sides are on each others hate list in the same order, 2nd and 3rd to the bottom.
Why do you think that is?
Because it really sucks that I feel like we are falling apart everytime we go through something hard. It is so hard to fight fair with him. But at the sametime he is so amazing I can't image my life without him.
If I were to study further would I find that all compatible couples are this way or is this just us or is it because we are 3rd on each others list instead of 1st?

It's my own fault for acting so awkward and goofy all the time but the salesman, conman type really doesn't suit me. I'm even questioning whether I'm Ne. But I don't feel any of the other perceiving functions. Especially not Se, I don't like to do things for kicks. Unless it's a new experience but I don't know if that is my ne cause i'd rather be cozy and talking to my friends. But I don't have a lot of friends I'm comfortable with and I have terrible long term memory and I'm not organized in the slightest. I'm like 90% sure I'm feeling, and my teachers have always said they sensed my empathy and I'm also very uncerebral. But I am constantly in my own head. But it almost always about my social relations and my emotions and self worth but I easily goes into a negative spiral. I always want to talk about it with people but when I do I always share to much or I'm scared to share even a little bit. I have been called cold and walled by my bosses and coworkers mostly dissagree. Wow I'm ranting but I do feel like I've shown my mental thought process.

Actually ENTJs aren't that control oriented(but can be opinionated and ask uncomfortable questions). SJs are far more like that because of their Si function's obsession with rules and traditions. ENTJ wants to please and can be unsure about what they are doing is correct(lacks Ti validation).

Well, I can understand how Si types can be rulebound. At the same "rank", they act like sheep, but in authority they're even worse when they pretend the rules they wrote, or were writen for them, are set in stone made of freaking neutronium.
I still see ENTJs as control freaks in their own right, just a different type of control freak. Instead of duty bound, they are ambition bound and must have everything their way.

Once I get it, it's like the whole journey never happened and I'm onto the next thing. That's why I'm at this video actually. That's related to how we will often sway the conversation over to whatever we're interested in, because we feel like it's more important than whatever the convo is about. And to us, it is. Love the content CSJ keep it coming

    • @connorschmidt5945
      @connorschmidt5945 5 ปีที่แล้ว

Also yeah i was put in all the gifted classes when i was younger with a great score on my IQ. I am willing to acknowledge that the test is bullshit. True intelligence can't be tested by one test, because intelligence takes so many forms. someone can have a great ability to go very far with an idea, but in an hour long test you couldn't possibly measure that. I'm not afraid to admit this because in my opinion one of the greatest tools for enfps and infps is HUMILITY. If you accept that your beliefs may not be true, and really begin to question yourself, you end up being much more open-minded and your beliefs will be much more valid. something that helps me is stating how certain i am about something I think and stating all the logic i used to reach that conclusion. then, by addressing the foundation of your and others' beliefs, you can reach deeper understanding.

The ego and the unconcious are too comfy together so no sense of growth can be achived but the person can fill totally relaxed and at ease. And the super ego is kind of the only one not too comfortable with the ego to make it lazy but comfortable enough for them to have a health balanced growth.
    So for me ENFP
: ENFP self distruction. Avoid the self if you dont want to go manic
But: good for getting out of the solid persona
: INFJ just get drwoned in whatever they be vibing on
But: good for zen mode, inspiration or relaxation
: ISTJ too harsh too critical it will destroy the self esteem
But: good for humbling the self inccase of egotism
: ESTP makes the person uncomfortable and unsure
But: Good for realizing the need for change, improvement and balanced growth

I actually don't get this as an INFP. I thought I was most compatible with ENFPs. And even the bedroom situation has been told to be the best situation from both sides....

People can have different views and thoughts. In a book, I read a couple of decades ago, I concluded that ENFPs are most compatible (more for friends) with INFPs, ESFPs, INJFs, and other ENFPs. INFPs are most likely to be friends with ENFPs, ISFP, other INFPs, and INTPs. That is if I remember correctly.
At the same time, life experiences and maturity also could easily effect who one subconsciously connects with as friends.
      Craig (ENFP)

Craig B Yep that's true. I mean tbh most of these examples of two INFPs or an INFP and an ENFP sound like examples of immature people and the ENFP and INFJs sound like healthy developed people. I as an INFP never get on with ENFJs and INFJs long term. Long term I get along better with ENFPs and INFPs and so on.
This is one of those things that sounds good on paper but in reality doesn't really work.

I have tremendous respect for CS Joseph. He does have a very deep understanding of, as he says, Jungian Depth Psychology, and has much information to share.
By the way, Jungian Depth, or Type, Psychology ---
      Zindabad!!!!!
(I noticed the "rap" video on your profile. I graduated from ISoI, completing my last 2 years of high school in Islamabad, due to my Dad's international work. This was back in the late 80's. Khoda-hafiz)

Craig B Oh I do too. I think he has a brilliantly deep understanding of the types. I just think he's missed the mark when it comes to compatibility and them working together. I mean one of the only successful marriages I've seen has been between my uncle and aunt who are both ISFJs, the worst is my own parents who are ESFJ and ESFP.
And yep. I'm actually in the UK but families from Pakistan. Haha.

I'm an ENFP and my mother is an ESTJ :/ It's all true what you said about our relationship :(

    • @rosanamartinsafonso4028
      @rosanamartinsafonso4028 5 ปีที่แล้ว

:) The others are all right too... My first best friend is an ENFJ (and our relationship is perfect as you described), but my second best friend is an ENFP and we get along very well though I think it is more a shoulder to shoulder relationship - we support each other and motivate each other very well because we had passed by the same problems with our mums (her mother is also an ESTJ (or an ISTJ, I'm not quite shore because she is a little more introverted than my mother, but our problems are exactly the same: they treat us like little children and don't have any respect for us...). I think that because my ENFP friend is older than me (she is 45 wile I'm 31), but we are in very different levels in different parts of our live, there is a lot of humility between us as well.... We share sorrows, she ears my counsels attentively and I ear hers; we sometimes disagree, but it is always with a huge amount of respect towards each other. Because we are in such different stages in live, we always try to motivate and to capacitate each other in a very positive way (we fail sometimes), but it is ok; we recognize why we fail (because what lead us to failure is the same), and we get up again. Our friendship is very rewarding, and we are a support for each other against the world that don't understand us... Then my third best friend is an ISFP (the same as my husband, though my husband is much more intuitive, but he as leading Se) and I love her tremendously, but I know that she does not loves me back in the same amount or way (sometimes seems more that she endures me, or recognize and is grateful for my love; but, as my love for her will never ends (because I'm so grateful to the Lord for her life, for she was putted in my way to be my friend), I will love her the same, with the same amount of gushy love that she finds sometimes awkward or smothering... :P I have a lot of interst in knowing how to make this type (ISFP) to feel loved (for obvious reasons)... I'm anxiously and patiently waiting for the video "8 Rules For Loving an ISFP" to get out :DD

I did the 16 personalities quiz and every time I get ENFP but right on the edge of ENFJ and ENTP... watching this makes me really confused about which type I am, because I have some ENFP friends that I’m really close with and some INFJ’s that I really despise. Is there a better way for me to type myself rather than 16 personalities? I’m also 99% sure my mom is ISTJ, and me and her have a generally good relationship most of the time, so I feel like I’m mistyped. Do you have any recommendations?

    Yeah, macro-evolution is entirely bunk.
There is no way to define or distinguish adaption by natural selection into a classification of macro or micro adaptions > it's not a separate process from adaptions among a species, also this has absolutely nothing to do with some kind of hypothetical bridge to how the mind works or was formed. In fact, scientist defines species according to most often physical differences and infers from there. Psychological theories such as Depth Psychology are subjective by nature, and so are the theories that make up evolutionary psychology, one doesn't approach the mind from the same starting point nor do they attempt to describe the same thing, merely pieces of the same whole, at best

As an ENFP finally realizing maybe I am not that smart, my inferior Si is triggered which makes my Fi parent feel extremely bad about itself, so my Ne hero must confer with my Te child and try and come up with some method or way of doing everything to make it appear that I am more intelligent than I actually am? Then if my method works, the only way I would be certain is if I have someone acknowledge me for my supposed “intelligence” and since they think I am smart that affirms to me that I actually am because if someone can see me that way then in some lighting it must be true. Is this how this works?
