This was on the original "Hot 350" list that CGC released in January as a response to reholdergate. There are silver age books, bronze, copper, universal, signed, 9.8s, 9.6s, all the way down to 4.0s, some with graded dates as old as 2000. CGC will not give details about how they compiled this list, but I assume it was from the scammer's account submission history. Whenever we buy/sell a slab, we should all be cross-referencing that list.
Yes cross reference is very key
@@ComicBookInvestmentsso, you’re not going to respond to Brute saying this is an old list & your video is essentially clickbait?
@@RyanAnthonyDigitalMediayep he's shown many times to be an immature jackass. Time to move on from this stupid channel.
@@RyanAnthonyDigitalMediait’s not clickbait Dave may not be aware of this list. I wasn’t
CGC just goes from one scandal to the other. They're still bending and damaging books AFAIK without any admission that they're doing it or recompense to the people affected. Their reputation is shit right now IMO.
I just used cbcs for the first time and I am extremely happy.
I like their new labels!
I was going to buy a cgc slab off of eBay recently but the seller had stated in description “ new slab “ and I thought about asking him to look and see if it was bent like a banana in the case…. I ended up just saying forget it and bought a raw… buying slabs is anything but certified and guaranteed these days
exactly so what service are they offering other than just a opinion? they arent accredited by any institute there are no licenses etc meaning no one gets in any trouble for the service they offer
"I really don't know what's going on." - that could have been the entire video
So glad i went back to collecting raw copies.
What I want to know is if you look up a slab number on a book that's for sale and CGC says that number doesn't exist!! I have this happen a couple of times.
This is like a chicken little post about the sky falling. I just reholdered 50 books with cgc and they scan the books after reholdering them but the grade date stays the same with just reholdering now. In order for the grade date to change the book has to be regraded. There is probably a note on that asm 300 that can get cleared up if you send it back I to cgc.
cgc is a joke
I'm done with considering CGC grades or pricing on books. CGC is basically just unreliable encapsulation. Their grade and estimation and services are garbage otherwise
A book is automatically re-graded when sent in for a re-holder.
Whether that's a cracked case. Sent in for signing. A new case. For any reason.
Part of the re-holding process is a grading of the book.
It's in T&C
Yes, I'm an old fart that reads the T&Cs 🤣😂🤣
Obviously they werent actually regrading the reholder books…or the scandal would not have happened. Thatsbthe whole point.
My first suspicion is that the book is a known “stolen” issue. I don’t think it’s a traditionally stolen item, I’m willing to bet that this book was accidentally shipped to the wrong person and CGC was unable to get it back from them and has flagged it as an issue. Wasn’t there an employee that was stealing books and then selling them or having them graded as his own books? This might be one of those.
Surely CGC must be wondering why a customer keeps breaking their case over and over and over again. That has to be suspect, unless CGC simply doesn't care.
It’s possible one of the books that was switched out as a 9.8 was originally found out to be exactly like the notes on that 9.4. Unique defects. So they’re flagging it as probably a fraudulent book that was likely switched.
Maybe they started using 9.4's for the same reason counterfeiters don't make $100 bills as often. More people are less likely to take a double take on a $100, then they would a $20. 😉
It's good that CGC is trying to stay on top of things and we appreciate you (as always) bringing this to our attention. On a different note: How is your dad? Do you guys stay in touch? The reason I asked is because I met him at the NYC Comic Con in Oct. We had a good chat for about 10 minutes or so and I told him to tell you of our conversation. I told him if he mentioned the name Thundergodd to you, that you would probably get a good laugh. He's a great guy and I'm glad I got the chance to meet him. Maybe you'll come next year perhaps? Anyway, take it easy.
He’s good. He was supposed to move down last month but it’s now Ina. Couple months. So I’ll be able to see a lot more of him
@@ComicBookInvestments Cool. Next time you talk with him, tell him that the Thor fan from NYC Comic Con says hello.
They know someone that worked at the company was involved in the scam. It would not surpise me it they were just making their own labels and putting them in cases at cgc……that would explain new labels and cases with old dates
I think the biggest ongoing CGC scam is the ever changing Turn around times from when the books are received.
Its a scam that the number of customers and employees fluctuates?
It'll be funny or at least ironic if we flash forward 10 years and main grading company is PGX! 😂
😆
Dont own any and dont ever seeing myself spending the money for something as useless as sending a book out
This may have been mentioned already, but if you reholder a book, the grade date remains the same. For example, I have a 1939 New York World's Fair that was graded in 2003 but I reholdered it this year (at Heroes Con). My "Grade Date" still says 2003 even though it's a brand new slab and updated label. So there's that at least.
As for that ASM, if it's not one of the original fraud books (someone commented already that it IS one), then my *guess* is it's a reported stolen book, and maybe CGC uses "Fraud" as an umbrella term? In some of those stolen book cases, I'd guess there are sellers that unknowingly fenced a book and have no clue their book is reported stolen.
Hi Dave. what are your thoughts on the CGC layoffs ?
Possible the book was flagged as stolen? And they are just calling it fraud?
That’s possible. They should say stolen though. That way the person can at least know it belongs to someone else
I wonder if it's one of those bootleg facsimile copies that some people have been printing up?
It seems to me that that is a template comment that would go on any stolen book?
Yooooo you’re not superman but your close my man !! Good job as always 😮😮😮😮
Thanks. I’m not Superman. But maybe I’m Batman :)
No. I'm Batman. Maybe you're Artie from the Morlocks
Have you ever thought about wearing a wood pattern t-shirt
I think this is a good thing. I do think it may be more prominent that it is a flagged book. The banner on the CGC page is small and nondescript.
Ya a better flag. But it’s nice that cgc is taking charge of this
Maybe stick to what you know instead of investigative reporting 😂
Maybe the book was reported stolen
And you continue to send them books. Makes no sense
This is probably one of the reholder fraud books
I don’t think I’ll ever use CGC. The only reason I would is to get the Marvel labels they have. I think I’m gonna use PSA. I believe they’re going to do well with comic books
They keep the initial grade date
Is that even really a 9.6 at this point Dave? Maybe you swapped it out with a 9.4
Hahahha. It’s actually a 0.5
They will take any grade they can get that's better. It's more money regardless.
It can be a reported stolen book. Whole video is speculation click bait. Cgc creates enough real issues without trying to create bs.
You're looking like Henry Cavill. Or maybe I'm tired.
Why thank you
Could be reported as stolen
Ahhh. That’s interesting. Reported as stolen if you have that original cgc serial. Wouldn’t they say something like “stolen” though
Boooooom
