Now we begin Witcher 3. Hot take: this is my least favorite of the games. It's in no way bad, I just don't like the retcons it makes to the lore but I'll get to those later. These as it will become apparent this game is insanely long with Act 1 being longer than any other Witcher part in this saga. With only a 12 hour limit I decided to make the prologue in White Orchard and Vizima its own thing. Like with Witcher 2 this footage seems to be more stuttering than my flied version so I can only conclude its TH-cam's compression which is annoying but I can't do much about besides rerecording the whole video at a higher frame-rate. My general thoughts of this area are mixed. In part I feel it's too long and has very little of value. If the Griffin encounter at 00:21:04 was removed and Gaunter O'Dimm said that Yennefer was heading to Vizima, then skipped to 00:58:19 nothing of plot value will be lost. However, I understand the point was probably to reintroduce people to what it's like to be a Witcher and establish for people who's intro to this series (like me) can understand what Witchers do. Kinda of an interesting note but it's not exactly clear when Witcher 2 ended. Based on dialogue in the Roache path of the game, Chapter 1 ends in either August or September and the opening of Witcher 3 says it May which is an eight month time difference. Now if Chapter 2 and 3 take place over a month each then Triss saying they split up six months ago that would work. However Matters of Conscience is set not long after the game with Triss gone when Geralt would be on his way to Nilfgaard to rescue Yen. Then Geralt and Vesemir did the event of the Killing Monsters trailer and comic happen six months before the game. I've never understood why he wasn't continuing south and instead went all the way to Velen when he knows she's in Nilfgaard, specifically the capital city. They seem obsessed with using Temeria and I feel like I remember that they said they were considering setting the next Witcher game in Temeria as well but the Witcher 1 remake is scratching that itch. (Although I don't remember where I saw that so don't quote me on it). Generally not much more to say about this part. It's a simple set up to everything that will be going on, establishes the political situation and some of the consequences from the last game and shows off what it's like to be a Witcher.
