    The thing I love about his talk show appearances, he never tries to be "quirky" or "lol so random", he doesnt even try to make his stories half belivable, and thats so refreshing as opposed to celebrities these days

      Exactly. It’s hilarious that he’s kind of just entertaining himself. Norm was a guy who’s just funny in real life. Like Ricky Gervais. Sad thing is most comedians are not funny in their personal life or without a skit but when Norm is in the room with a bunch of comedians, he’s the funny one. Richard Pryor a Redd Foxx we’re 2 funny guys but Eddie Murphy, who’s extremely talented is more of an uptight guy.

    The best thing that came about from Don Ohlmayer, is that he will forever be known simply for being the pinhead that fired Norm MacDonald... nothing else that he did in his long career will ever compete in public memory against that one stupid action, lol!

    Some of the best interviews Dave did were with Norm. They clearly enjoyed and respected one another & that brought out the best in each of them...
    Very sweet that Dave was staunchly supportive of Norm - genuinely cared for him and wasn't afraid to say it out loud.
    And Norm? One of a kind. He was truly a gem and a very special guy...

    My favorite Norm story and it was clean (other than the sex with HD part, but that was funny shit). The man had rare comedic timing and talent. I refuse to stay saddened by his loss, but cherish what he gave us.

    I wonder if there was an ending to the story that Norm didn't have time to get to -- that it turns out Norm went to the wrong house -- the real bed & breakfast was at a different address, and Norm just ended up staying at some random guy's house.

    When “stars” tell stories, it usually involves a grand setting with a wild plot and some explosive payoff that was probably blown up for effect. Not Norm. Norm tells a story set in a bed and breakfast in the middle of “God’s country” with a plot centered around a game of Scrabble with an 85 year and he manages to take such a single-layered story and captivate the audience just in the telling. I am STILL sad he’s dead.

      He got fired from doing weekend update, but not from SNL entirely. Plus there was contracts involved, which can, RARELY, benefit both parties.. usually contracts like that are put in place to protect the house.. in this case, it worked in Norms favor

    it's kinda weird to hear Norm say he "used the internet" to find a bed and breakfast.. back in 1998. it seems kind of out of place for the time period but I guess people were using it then?? idk I was 5 years old lol

      Amazing how Google managed to dominate them all, presumably (or maybe likely) with the help of covert support by the US government.
      Now it's Google that donates huge amounts of money to the election campaigns of many politicians (left and right), so I guess Google will probably continue to dominate.

      Um, no. Go watch his stuff from the 80s and early 90s. He was absolutely revolutionary for late night talk shows. Ground breaking for comedy that influenced many shows and comedians. He did however begin to phone it in towards the end of the 90s.
