    Great video! I get nervous about shooting in public, always thinking everyone is looking at me, lol. I liked the fact that you showed the whole process and seeing that most people just went about their business and didn't really seem to notice you much. Thanks!

    50mm is a very common focal length for me. It's the first lens I learned to shoot on so it's my favorite.
    I started with Nikkor 50mm 1.4G which I found to be disturbingly soft at 1.4. The softness continued until f4. So,
    I then added the nikkor 50mm 1.8G which performed better, especially at f2 and f2.8, but was not terribly rugged.
    I sold both to purchase the Sigma 50mm 1.4 Art which is just a miracle of lens. I think I'm done now.

    Before watching this video (as I always do) I scrolled down to read some of the comments first. And RIGHT AWAY I noticed ppl were praising the 1.8... HOWEVER, I liked the imaging of the 1.4 immediately, and when you started shooting with the 1.8 my first thought was: NOPE, I don't like the 1.8 at all (why is everyone so in love with this lens). As the video went on, I realized the 1.8 isn't an "action lens"; meaning it's not great for taking pics of subjects in motion (because I didn't like ANY of the pics you took of ppl as they were walking by... they just didn't look as sharp as the images taken with the 1.4), but when you began to take shots of ppl standing still... DEAR GAWD THE 1.8 BLEW ME AWAY!!! I'm just getting into photography, so your review has helped me immensely!!! It's clear to me now that the 1.8 is great for portraits - which is what I'll be using it for, and its nice to know it cost MUCH LESS than the 50mm 1.4. My only question now is... will my photos with the 1.8 look as good as yours, being that I'm shooting with the Nikon 3300, or will I need to upgrade my camera to get better image quality with this lens?

    Hi Corey, you are brilliant! I watch all your channel videos. After watching your clips I have purchased the Nikon D610 DSLR ($1134), 14-24mm f/2.8G ($1380), 105mm VR f/2.8G ($710) & the 50mm f/1.8G ($160). All U.S. purchased all, brand new, in one bang; eBay style and all from serious photography sellers! The prices have gone down drastically. I shoot jewelry and real estate. Thank you for being a super guy!!!!!! Keep it coming DUDE!!!! We're watching :-)

    Another great review Corey, it's always a pleasure to watch your work even when I already own the item you talk about! You know what's funny? American people! A video like this would not be shootable in Italy as well...because italians are always like "what? I'm gonna be on youtube? no way! You'll have news from my lawyer very soon!” ahaha

    • @Faymusmedia
      @Faymusmedia  10 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Not sure of the laws over there but pretty sure that somebody's face on youtube recorded from public places should be legal. If you can see someone's face in public it's fair game.

    Well, the 85mm 1.2L has to move a lot of glass, so it is considerably slower than most primes.
    A question though, do you always touch your subjects when posing? I have always seen that as a big no-no.

    You can get a 1.8g and a couple of used 1.8d for the price of a 1.4g. The af-s breaks so I`m told so having 3 would be a better option long term for sure.

    This was a great lens review, I also liked how your mom was there taking pictures with you. Quick question for you, is the D3200 compatible with those two lenses? I know they have built in motors so I can use autofocus when they are attached to cameras that are in the D3000 line but I just wanted to make sure they work good on those cameras before I shell out $100-200+ to buy one of them, especially since I'm on a tight budget (I have just under $600 and I'm a college student).

    Just for a little perspective. I am 66 years old. When I was a young boy my mother once bought four grocery sacks full of food for just $14 and I used to pay only a dime for a hamburger and five cents for a nehigh grape drink. So when he says you’re stealing that Lens for between two and $300 it really doesn’t make sense to me. It’s not that things are more expensive now it’s just the money just not worth what it used to be. It’s kind a like now days if you have a wheelbarrow full of dollar bills walking down the street and someone robbed you they’ll take the wheelbarrow not the dollar bills. So when he says something between two and $300 is a steal it just boggles my mind that he could say such a crazy thing
