Im glad you got your money back this was the funniest episode ive seen in a long time . Your ex lanlord seems not all there to be honest @@ashleyasetzer
So the previous tenants moved out at end of may after 4 years and the plaintiff moved in the day after. She somehow did $750 worth of damage in less than two months? Defendant obviously made no repairs in between tenants. She probably just wanted back to back tenants, without having to do repairs and to scam both security deposits.
That's pretty common amongst landlords. I've been renting a house for almost 6 years and the landlord has NEVER offered to do any kind of repairs or updates.
My old landlord charged me for a chest that was outside to store pool equipment... I couldn't argue and lose money because I didn't state in the move-in inspection that it was already there and wasn't mine. I had thought it was for the house to use since it stored equipment to clean the outside pool that tenants were responsible to do. I bet they made money each time a tenant move out and didn't get rid of that chest that wasn't even the tenant's and was thought to be a part of the house for use to store pool equipment.
Dumb defendant: “The dog kept going to the bathroom on the lawn” JJ IMMEDIATELY with NO hesitation whatsoever: “Judgement for the plaintiff in the amount of $750 we’re done” 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Defendant knew she didn't have a case. She didn't want to show the pictures and kept trying to pass up estimates. I love how JJ ended it after "the dog used the bathroom on the lawn."
In cases like this people should be compensated for the inconvenience for having to sue just to get their money back. It should never have come to this. Outrageous.
I think there is a provision for triple damages to punish landlords who wrongly keep security deposits or dont return them in timely manner. Jj doesn't do that though, she just makes person whole and not profit from it
@@ashleyasetzer In some states you get double or triple what the landlord has wrongly held back. Seems not to be the case on JJ or other court TV shows. Was the appearance fee enough to make up for that?

You can tell the landlord was not a fun person to deal with just based on her passive aggressive comments. Oh no! Occasionally when I am very agitated with a situation I do exactly what she does. With the whole exchange between her and Judge Judy about just wanting to initially be told about what the damage was. "There are pictures... Oh you don't want them" And then after Judge Judy asks for the pictures we get a nice little "Oh... you want them? sure." with a sarcastic smile. Even though now is the time and in her best interest to share if she really thinks there is damage.
Lol we all do it when we’re angry, but some people live like that all the time. Its hard dealing with people who are so freaking passive aggressive and they try to gaslight you, trying to make you feel like your in the wrong.

Exactly! She had no defense because she wasn’t ready for a former tenant to take her to court over the deposit. She had no legitimate reason to withhold it and she knew it.
That Defendant is a sarcastic, rude, and typical self entitled Karen!!! 1 minute in to the episode, I just wanted her to shut her bogan mouth! U can already see tell that she drove the plaintiff to move out. She couldn't even answer whether or not they got along. Obviously they didn't, otherwise she would of given her $750 back. Besides, how did she know it wasn't the previous tenant that broke the 'Cabinet'? How do we know that was even the plaintiffs cabinet, and not the defendants in her apartment that was already broken? However, seeing how she is, I have no doubt in my mind that she most likely deliberately broke it herself in order to prove that she had the right to take the FULL $750. Heaven help the new tenants at that's defendants duplex if they have her as a landlord! If they see this, they should either move out ASAP or request a written up and signed tenancy agreement. A few people don't know or understand how important tenancy agreements are these days. But also, it is VERY important to take photos of the property before you move in, and after you move out. It has honestly gotten me out of sticky situations with dishonest landlords and real-estate agents trying to swindle people out of more money to make an extra buck.
She definitely appeared to be a difficult landlord. Just made up stuff to not have to give this lady’s security deposit back. She knew she didn’t have any relevant proof either. Wasted trip to court
This is why I love Judge Judy! She cuts right through the mess and knocks it out. I remember a Chris Rock comedy special when he talked about th O.J. Simpson trial and how loooooong it took. He said Judge Judy should have had the case. " She'd have knocked that @!@## right out in 5 minutes!" 😂😂😂
The defendant didn't even get the chance to tell the judge why the plaintiff should pay for a new roof, the resurfacing of her swimming pool, and a brick fence to replace the old weather-beaten wooden one.
I’m so confused by this case. Like didn’t the landlord not take pictures of the unit between the last and the plaintiff renting.
