    In my opinion it dosent matter if you use a controller or vinyl or cds or whatever. It's not about what you use, but how you use it :)

    Cheers Luke! Love that you did this. There's sooooo many amateur DJ's out there with controllers in their bedroom trying to learn how to mix with lower budget controllers.
    Think you can do a tutorial on setting up your equipment? Cue Points, FX, etc.
    Love your Vlog!

    • @mateuszkozdroj1412

      Alliver the thing is this controller (mc7000) isn't exactly low budget ;) The functionality of it is pretty much the same as in the prime series players

    @Laidback Luke as a new DJ who is close to being 50 I love how you teach us novices through your own experiences and extensive knowledge of your craft but through your humbleness you don't come across as an ass hole of sensei but as a patient master. One Love and thank you for your tutelage.

    I've been DJing for 20 years and I never thought of grouping my cue points by color. This is a game changer. Been using a controller for about a year now and this is like break through.

    Doesn't matter what you use as a DJ. Doesn't make you better or worse when it comes to using a controller/cdjs/vinyl. They are just tools. How you use them is what makes you a great DJ. I love both my vinyl setup and my controller! Thanks for posting this Laidback Luke!

  • @DJAUDIO1
    @DJAUDIO1 7 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    That was incredible. You were live on the spot. It's great to see big professional DJs stepping up and showcasing their skills outside of the festival circuit and trying new gear. Kudos for getting on Serato DJ and doing a lot with the features on the controller. Your programming and musical selection is on point. There are some slip-ups here and there but we do not fault you for it because it was live and on the spot freestyle all the way. That is what we call real DJ.

    Long time listener, first time commenter. Luke thank you for this episode. I use to DJ weddings and hump vinyl for for my uncle's company when I was 16. I'm 32 now and my wife surprised me with a Pioneer DDJ_SX2. I'm still overwhelmed by the how different a controller is compared to the tables. Although I'm a far way off in considering myself a DJ, it was really special seeing my favorite DJ use one. Very inspiring and great effort. Much love for LL!

    Watched this so many times now, but its great to see what a Pro can do on a Controller. I have a MC7000 too, superb bit of kit and literally every day is a learning curve with it. So much you can do with the hundreds of features. IMO its still the best controller on the market.

    I just got back into DJing from a 6 year break. (new dad, lifestyle changes, you know) I bought the traktor s4 mk3 for the spinning platters, as I started on vinyl in 97. These controllers are crazy man! I can do things I only dreamed of when spinning on techs. Anyhow, just wanted to say thank you for showing what can be done on a controller, I love how your style transferred right over to the controller. Big respect.

      Anton Marusenko spit in their face to distract them for enough time to get enough power to accurately kick them as hard as you can right in the bollocks. Then knee them in the face when they double up in pain hopefully breaking thei nose so they can’t fight back. Then get outa there quick. In self defence there’s no such thing as a fair fight- use every dirty tactic in the book if you’re about to get a kicking. I’ve been doing Jiu Jitsu for 19 years and unless we end up on the ground quickly, no brown belt would do any good whatsoever- so fight dirty or take a beating... I know what I’d choose lol

Thank you Luke for showing that you care about those trying to make it to the top.

    this mix just goes to show that mixing with any set up can be done the old school way. A basic mixer with real vinyl or an all in one controller from the future .. doesn't matter it's all fun and takes skills to put on a good set!

  • @marcovandeburn9565
    @marcovandeburn9565 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    As an old school guy that grew up on vinyl I've never used serato or traktor. I remember going from vinyl to cdj and it being a major learning curve. However I just feel like the added entity of a laptop is just that one component to far. For me its just an issue of something that can go wrong and then reboot times can be detrimental. So many times I've seen people have the tone noise and look at the decks like "WTF" same in a way that a cdj can have an issue or a needle can fail on a deck (ie to much fluff or balancing coins) but the less moving parts the better for me. Seeing also your videos on Denon I must admit I would like to give them a go. Anyways keep up the vids no matter how long you can be in this game its always interesting to check out new ideas and products.

    If you go to the setting on serato and change the speed of the pause button. If you adjust it to just a bit slower you can then press the slip button and before build ups you can press play,pause,play,pause,play whilst filtering or using effects like the echo for example. Another technique your able to use to make build ups seem more interesting :)

    I own a DenonDJmcx8000 and I enjoy it a lot! I bring it out to most of my mobile gigs and I even teach my students on this unit. The features are great and the screens with usb's are a plus when you don't feel like using a computer. But as much as I love Denon DJ and I love to scratch I would still like to see a more responsive platter like on other dj controllers. Maybe even a spinning platter? I think the Denon SC5000 media players that you are using were calibrated a lot better using new technology but for the price and features all Denon DJ products are a workhorse. As far as what you did on this controller, I would give you an A- just because you weren't used to it as much but you still rocked it in the end. All my best! - DJ Greg Nice

    Awesome work for a first attempt. I love using loop and loop rolls with my transitions and add effects to fade them out. Allows me to play the new track or sample clips to remix on the fly..

    Great mix it's different from what you normally use but fun to try new things. There are some pro-Dj's that use controllers what I learned as a DJ to be able to know all types of setups cause you never know what system any club, bar, lounge or your own system they use.

    I love seeing DJ's mess up. I am a DJ and Live Djs are rare especially in the professional industry, they take producers over DJs even when its a prerecorded set, just pressing PLAY has become the norm! good to see a live Dj again!
