Great! I collected many different levels of left hand warm ups to use with my students. this one surely is helpful as it works on many things at the same time. Good luck!

This is a very helpful video for beginners in trying to use Simon Fischer’s Warming Up. Thanks for sharing. But you got one thing incorrect. That is, when practicing the fourth finger, you only hold down the first finger, but the book requires to hold down all the other fingers on C,D and B. You can easily have this point corrected. Then your video will be really good.

Thank for you comments and we'll noticed points! You're right, in the book is showing finger 1 2 and 3 down when lifting 4th. In my point of view and experience you can use this exercise in many different ways (i.e. holding down or not fingers). Every change will bring different benefits. In the DVD for example Mr. Fischer shows it not holding 4th finger down as a possibility.

I am a little puzzled by this. In my book and the way I’ve been practising it for many years there are three fingers down on the strings and one finger doing the exercises.

Hi Stephen! is it the Simon Fischer Warm Up book? In my book is just showing the 4th finger as a silent note. Some other similar exercises from Carl Flesch - Urstudien and C. Dounis - Daily Dozen its suggested to hold additional fingers. Holding extra finger can be a good idea to built flexibility and strength. You can choose to do it with or without silent fingers holding down. With silent notes is more challenging, without can be more relaxed for you hand.
