      S. Eric Finke and Brad was faced with the extremely difficult task of replacing Randy Rhoads (RIP) on the Diary tour - and he did a hell of a job. Then he went on to have a lot of success with Night Ranger. Him and Jeff Watson were one of the best guitar duos in rock at that time, and they each had their own distinctive style.

    その時のソロライブではジェフさん以上の速さで普通に弾いておりました。
    ブラットギルスさんはテクニックをひけらかすことなく、バンドバランスを
    考えた音作りを考えていることを強く感じます。ブラットギルスさんでしたら8フィンガーやイングさんやポールさんぐらいの速弾きは簡単に出来るぐらいのテクニックは持ち合わせていると思います。私としてはもう少し速弾きブーム時代に最速速!!弾きをアピールしてくれればナイトレンジャーの評価は変わっていてくれたかなと思います。宜しくお願い致します。

    • @kentec
      @kentec  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      確かにおっしゃる通り。彼は歌ありきのギターソロという考えのギタリストでした。だからテクニックはこういうソロの場で披露すればいいということですよね。あと個人的に彼が好きな理由はプレイはもちろんなんですがそのステージアクション。
      見せることをよくわかってますよね。自分がソロ弾いてる時はもちろん、バッキングやジェフのソロの時でもちゃんと自分なりのアクションを決めている。そういうとこがカッコ良く、
      個人的にはこの来日ライブは彼の魅力満載!と思っています。

    I knew there would be backlash about my comment. Damn! No where did I say that Brad was a horrible guitar player. I merely stated that he was fucking up and blatantly stealing part of Ed's live solo. Of course EVH didn't invent finger tapping(Italian classical acoustic players) or the slap funk(All those funk rock bass players), but Ed did those in his own style. As world class of player that Brad G is, I would just think he could create his own live thing. I bought that live 07-08 dvd of Poison. I just can't watch CC's solo. His playing is great(great guitarist), but when he goes into Ed's solo, it's so goddamn bad, it's embarrassing.

      Michael Murphy yeah there sure are ALOT of haters here - lol. Brads "thing" has always been the whammy bar, so it only makes sense that he would feature it in his solo! Yes there is obviously a EVH influence (like many guitarist from that era), but Brad did come up with all kinds of whammy bar sounds and techniques - often pulling up on his Floyd (where as Eddie only set his to go down). Brads playing on the Speak Of The Devil live DVD is fantastic, as is his Starlicks instructional video. Brad and Jeff Watson were also one of the best (and most underrated) guitar tandems in rock!

Damn, I was watching an absolute horrendous/horrible solo from CC Deville(Poison) and he tried like hell to do Ed's Eruption solo. It was embarrassing. Then I was watching an old Boston live show, damn same shit, of all people Tom Scholz is out there trying to tap his ass off. Just one after another, and these guys are great players, why can't they build a solo of their own? Now to watch Brad Gillis fuck up the slap/funk tapping that Ed does live and on the intro to Mean Street. I can't understand it. Hell Neil Schon has all his axes installed w/ a locking trem(even the les pauls lol), and I've yet to see him use it other than some minor bend he could do without a locking trem lol. Brad Gillis ripping of Eddie? LOL And i suppose Eddie is ripping off Brad when Eddie uses the whammy bar? Or maybe Randy Rhoads is also ripping off Eddie when he came up with the Crazy Train solo? Point is just because someone does something similar to what Eddie did does not mean he's ripping off Eddie! Think man!

      Treachery Dude you absolutely know nothing about what you're "trying" to relay. First Ed got the "first" Floyd trem. I hardly think(and if you can find somewhere that says different) brother Brad was using a whammy bar back in 77' when VH1 was being recorded. And second, there is no whammy bar at all in "Crazy Train". Dude u've got to be kidding. Randy himself said he was inferior to Eddie's playing, n tried to come up w/ something different(which he most certainly did). Randy was an incredible player.

    Definitely the worst guitar solo I've ever seen.. and he was all flashy like he tough he was Eddie or Randy! lol

  • @jonnyquest8774

    That was one of the worst waste of time guitar solos I've ever seen in a concert setting. Doesn't require any rhythm or melodic phrasing to make whammy bar noises and pick fast. If he's better than that, he should've used that opportunity to show it.

    • @freepressright
      @freepressright 9 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      +jonnyQuest Agree wholeheartedly. I'd like to shove that whammy bar up Brad's back side for as much as he overuses it. I don't even think his use of it is tasteful. It's just ridiculous noisemaking. I think Brad is far more capable than this crappy solo.

      +freepressright Yes indeed lol It does look like Spinal Tap gone wrong...Back in the days,everybody wanted to be the new Edward Van Halen but Ed's just out of this world!!!Hi from France :)

      +jonnyQuest i think this was performed 32 years ago.how old are you? the worst thing about this is that Night Ranger couldn't muster a decent song between them and the funniest thing is Brad looks like the 1st jock to get killed in any number of slasher/hacker Horror films from the same period!!!

    • @nicolassosolic3655
      @nicolassosolic3655 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Lol Long curly hair doesn't work,unless you're Robert Plant...
      But to be honnest,Night Ranger wasn't the worst band around.
      By the end of the 80',i was sick and tired by the "hey,i'm the new Eddie Van Halen thing!"
      Eddie's just so unique,just another league...
      Hi frpm France :)

      +Steve Roberts I was 14 when this came out. I thought Night Ranger's guitar solos in their songs were excellent, but it's interesting how many guys can't handle the stage by themselves. They just fall apart, like Brad did here...

    Now you know why Ozzy dumped his ass a Eddie poser. Couldn’t play Randy’s solos so he stole from Eddie. What a slap in Randy’s and the whole Ozzy crew and fans. What if any great stuff or influence has this clown done none. Not one tune did he write while with Ozzy infact the whole band hated him and still do to this day if even mention him they will just walk away. Randy was beyond everyone’s playing their was only one who could play his music rite that was Dime bag. Ozzy tried to get him but he wouldn’t go without his brother. I know I was there I was a roadie. I was lucky enough to hear Randy play every time he played for Ozz and Sharon. Brand wasn’t good enough to hold his jock strap.just search the tube for Dime bag playing in a local bar you will find his video of him playing so Randy stuff it will blow your mind!!!!!!!
