The fact itself that Garfield mom so camly and directly tells him this speaks volumes about her in any other story you’d expect her to pressure him to make a choice or sternly tell him he’s a disgrace instead she camly accepts the fact that he’s got his own life and tells him camly to return to it knowing it’s for the best and they part ways with no bitter feelings whatsoever
