Just bought nearly exact one for $4k off MSRP. Drove all the competition but value for dollar, driving experience etc just favored the Ascent. Pilot was close but having to wring out the V6 and the # of issues people have had with them since the update came out kept me in my familiar Subarus. Great review
This looks like a really awesome family vehicle. They build the screen into the dash very well. Some vehicles look like they are glued in aftermarket. Lol
I’ve had mine for about a month and I love it! I gad the Forester prior but needed extra room for grandkids and dogs. Great video, I learned a few things!
the tech is outdated which is the only reason i'm not trading my 10yr old subaru for a new ascent. Way too many new options out there with the latest tech. If Subaru get their tech on par with the rest of the competition i would consider the ascent. 19 cup holders isn't a huge deal but i guess they want that to be a selling point lmao
I'm looking at this and the 2025 Honda Pilot. Pilot looks nicer on the outside for me. The Subaru is about 5 grand cheaper but the Pilot has a V6. Im leaning towards the Pilot.
Drove Everything in this class, came down to 3...Ascent, Palisade, and Pilot. Ascent wins on AWD, Ride, Handling, and Price. Palisade wins on Tech, and Interior. Pilot wins on Roominess and Looks. Bought Ascent best all around for Safety and Value, oh and it was the most fun to drive too.
Great review Kenny! This is really well equipped and a very good looking suv. "Perfectivon does not exist in life" is a very good motto to live life by. Sorry to hear that you were under the weather but glad you are feeling better.
LoL. Was almost through your entire video before I realized, "Wait... where is this guy?" Your drive test is literally 5 mi from my house. LOL. Trading my 2020 Outback Limited for a 24 Ascent this week. Excited!
Thanks for the review. Right now I am trying to decide between Ascent Limited and Touring. My dealership does not have a Touring for test drive. But they told me that the Touring has extra sound insulation, and more double laminated window glass, and therefore will have a quieter ride than the Limited, which is very important for me. Would you be able to confirm if the Touring has a quieter ride on the highway than the Limited?
Thanks for your response. But my bad, I now remember the dealership salesman was actually comparing the Ascent Onyx and the Ascent Touring, as I test drove the Onyx, but was put off by the cabin noise. So the salesman told me to consider the Touring instead, as it had the best noise insulation and acoustic windshield and windows, and much quieter than the Onyx, which makes sense, given the significant price difference between the 2 trims. But I did not get to test drive the Touring, so no way to verify.
Honda Pilot has a V6. Subaru Ascent has a Turbo 4. So advantage Honda. However is Honda’s AWD as good as Subaru’s? Also I know the past Honda Pilots were very reliable but the Subaru Ascent has had its issues. However, the Pilot is also more expensive than the Ascent. So it is a tough choice. Do I go with the Subaru for its AWD system or the Honda for its reliability?
I faced the same decision and chose the Subaru due to its superior ADAS and lane-centering / self-driving features compared to the Honda, making the Subaru a better choice for long road trips.
@@sansin6250 I would choose the Subaru just based on the AWD system. I have owned other Subarus in the past and it just works well in all driving conditions.
Much to our surprise the turbo-4 in our Ascent drives like the V6 in our Odyssey. 23-24 Pilots are not as reliable as the Hondas we owned from 2002-2019 so beware.
@@feline-n6b debatable. The Ascent has a wider third row and more room behind the third row, but the Pilot third row has more headroom. We chose the Ascent, but if we were putting adults in the third row on a regular basis would have chosen a minivan, Pilot, or Grand Highlander.
Well done , I watched the whole thing , I just wanted to add 1 thing, don’t forget add few parts from wrx sti to this will turn it into 305 horsepower :)
I just purchased one I like it but I'm confused with the way the hood looks so huge while driving. I feel like I'm driving an 18-wheeler. Does anyone else feel like this?
It is likely because the air intake for the turbo is on the underside of the hood. The air for the turbo comes in the grill then along the underside of the hood. The hood is considerably thicker than any average vehicle so they also had to do some modifications with the hood design to accommodate this unique feature. The WRX/STI and other turbo sports cars use hood scoops to accomplish that.
A buddy got a new crosstrek it's super. Know someone with a Subaru sedan. Its luxurious I think. 3 rows would be to big for me. GREAT REVIEW. thanks peace bro
My reasons on why I bought the Pilot over the ascent: Edit: (06/30/24): I updated my comment due to mistakes. This should be better than the original comment. 1. Strong, Refined V6. 2. No turbos 3. Has more cargo space even when the 3rd row seats are up 4. Drives smoother 5. More second row space (Eg. Headroom/legroom) 6. No CVT, a pure 10 Speed Automatic Transmission 7. Better tires even with the non Trailsport model. 8. Huge underfloor storage. 9. Quieter ride. 10. Lots of interior storage 11. Removable Second Row Bench Seat to make capitans chairs. 12. Lots of third row
@@bigdogpete43 I bet you never owned one! Subarus are awesome! I have seen outback's in my local area with over 200000 miles and still running! You better do your homework before you make rash judgements! Subarus have awesome resale and the best Awd system in the business! Try one before you knock it!
We just bought this exact spec for my wife. At invoice, $42K and change. This is her third Subaru, and we are very happy. I looked at the Pilot and GC L as well as Highlander. The ride of the Ascent is far more compliant. The other options were 7 to 9K more expensive.
Great vehicle the Ascent. My family is grown and on their own I just don’t need this kind of room anymore. Love our 24 Forester traded in our 23 Crosstrek for it.

I own two Subarus and love them. My wife has a 2022 Outback turbo and I have a 2023 Cross trek limited. Great cars!
What car do you prefer i am between getting these vehicles right now for mostly highway commuting

I really like my Subaru. Time will tell how reliable it is (supposed to be very reliable), but driving it is a pleasure!

How perfect!

We’ve just bought one of these and we love it ❤
Some of us set the climate control and leave it alone for as long as we own the vehicle

This is false. A touring and a limited have the exact same road noise. Ive been driving ascents since 2020.
Haven’t noticed a difference

Seems like something a dealership would say to get you to buy now.

For folks that bought Ascent, what trim did you chose and how much ? I'm currently looking at ascent limited or onyx.
Went with the limited. Found a ‘21 that someone had leased, was 30k miles and bought for $28.5k. Can’t go wrong with this car it’s fantastic
Touring. Love it,

V6 in the Pilot. No comparison.

Pretty cool SUV. But 3rd row seats is redundant. Greetings
Hi! I was unsure what you meant by 3rd row seats being redundant. Can you please explain? Thank you.
I love my Subarus BUTTT dread the idea of another heat shield rattle with the purchase of a third one!

I love those Thomas Edition lightbulbs in the turn signals on a 2024 model. 😑
For real lol
Subaru. Owned the pilot. It was an electrical disaster
My God that front end is ugly. It’s like the Asian automakers are trying to one up each other in the ugly department.

not buying one now since it hurt you. 😃

Honda please

Honda overpriced, not worth it.
Yeah with the glue on tablet on the dash and poor AWD system….keep dreaming.
For me, the main question is which car is smoother? In US there are a lot of bad roads. A lot.
