Hi Stephanie the super glue is heavier and more dense than the PVA glue and that's what pushes it away and creates a crator

Not sure that is the reason. Super glue is highly reactive, and requires stabilizers to stay in a liquid state. Moisture deactivates its stabilizers and it starts to "cure". I believe it is pulling the moisture from the PVA causing the deformations. I'm not a chemist, so just a theory. I know who would know.
      GOOBERTOWN... WHERE ARE YOU BRENT??

hi mate, i apply UHU glue with a toothpick, i find i can pull and string it really well. a twist with the toothpick at the end helps it to separate from the glue. also because its small i can squeeze it into tight spaces within the models immediate area. great tutorial mate.

Never come across the PVA and super glue trick before, will definitely try for my nurgle models. Looking forward to your batreps with Play On. I really enjoy their videos. I don't play 40K any more (OPR are my go to rule sets) but I do like their banter, and the joy they have for the game.

    Super glue is thirsty..
    LOL
It actually draws the moisture of the white glue to it, and "consumes" it to dry. If the air in your room is really dry, you can actually at times see the vapor.

  • @Bluecho4

Nice. I experimented with this kind of thing a few months ago, when I was trying to decide on a basing scheme for my Tzeentch daemons. Super glue on PVA, with little crafting dots applied and oozed over, to mimic eyeballs. I was thinking of a fleshy landscape, with human skin tones. Ultimately, while I thought it had potential, I decided it was a bit too much labor per model, and went with a different basing scheme.

Instead if buying a texture pallete, you can basically just prime anything and use it the same way. Something with texture will work better right away, but I just primed an old cutting mat and after a few uses it starts to build up a texture as paint dries on it. Works great and costs way less!

I heard you can use a piece of cardboard to get rid of the excess paint when drybrushing. Alternatively, you can also use glossy magazine paper for a less dusty drybrush look. Thanks for the video.

I tried this the other day and it didn't work, the superglue just dried in clumps floating on the pva. Turns out that Gorilla superglue has a different chemistry to other brands. I tried Gorrilla clear and gel, and even tried thinning them with actetone, no luck.
I got it to work fine with Loctite and with Bostik. It looks great! Now I just need to figure out a recipe to replicate that water effect stuff.

Make your own texture pallet out of old bits. Glue a bunch of them to a cheap cutting board from the dollar store and fill in the negative space with coarse sand or tiny gravel. Prime it black, and use it to remove paint for drybrushing. Texture pallets are over rated and do a worse job imo.

  • @djchriscaution

this is WAY too slow and too much energy for one base. Use super glue and a lit cigarette done, over next base......
