The concerts were the icing on the cake of a perfect weekend at the Sax Summit. Thank you to all of the fine artists who shared their skills and beautiful music with us. I personally know that there are 12 kids in Orange County who were inspired by this weekend, and will never forget this experience, and for that, I thank you!
thanks for sharing this clip...Kashiwa is my Hero!!! Thank you Kashiwa for choosing the sax. I have to listen his solo over and over. His solo sounds preconceived. Now, I believe Kashiwa improv'd that solo right then and I believe Kashiwa is good enough that he can improv a solo thats melodical and medthodical that could sound preconceived. It just blows my mind. That chorus he took had no junk in it. I mean most players just throw notes around and attempt to fit in as many altissimo notes as possible...just check out the dude that won the contest...anyway, every note in Kashiwa's chorus connected from start to finish like it was composed ...and that's the awesomeness of Kashiwa; he composed that solo right then and it was flawless. I just wish I had listened to this Cat more when I was getting my chops...
This performance is above excellent. Each one does his bit with self satisfaction ( and with half contentment on account of time constraint, I am certain ) Warren does his thing per CD. What a marvel! I spot Kashiwa from day one. He, like Everette Harp, Nelson Rangell and Brandon Fields amongst others, is first and foremost a virtuosic Jazz practitioner who 'moonlights' commercially as an instrumental Pop/R & B/Fusion artist. No wonder he is able to structure his solo logically and coherently, with extemporaneous finesse and splendor. I notice from amongst them an alto saxophonist and a tenor player; they both have blown my mind.
