The medieval Abbey stands on the site of a much earlier monastery, fouded in 657.
A Gothic Setting.
Bram Stoker arrived in Whitby July 1890.
Whitby's windswept headland, the abbey ruins, a church with swooping bats. - Gave Bram Stoker the ideal setting for inspiration and creativity.
His book was published in 1897.

Oh you are brave sending you drone between those massive pillars, I have never done anything like that but very effective it was. I am temped to bring my drone with me when I go to the Whitby Goth Festival at Halloween but do not fancy carrying it about with me, as it is always rammed for that festival, so will have to figure something out. Awesome video, the long shadows of early morning and the music to accompany really add something to this video. You are probably better off getting there early so the people from English Heritage can’t bother you about flying your drone over their fragile Abbey I know this from experience. 😂
