I’m listening to everything you are saying about an egg’s bloom to repeat at a party. That way I can easily divide the room as those I want to hangout with. What a time saver. 😅
I have buff and partridge Chanteclars. They often give us pretty light pink eggs. They have buff Orpington in their geneology so that's probably why. I bought some Easter and Olive Egger eggs for my Partridge broody Momma to hatch out. 3 days ago she gave us 10 healthy babies! Soon, we'll be having a rainbow in our basket!! So thrilled! Love your channel guys, thanks! Regards from Northern Ontario.
Fascinating! I have 2 salmon faverolles - one tends to lay pink which I noticed was due to the bloom, so I wasn’t sure if she was a “true” pink egg layer. Neither of my australorpes lay pink.
There are only white eggs and blue eggs. Every other color is the bloom put on in relation to the egg color. For example, green eggs are the result of a blue shelled egg being coated with a brown bloom coating.
The brown coloring is a pigment called protoporphyrin-IX applied to the shell after it has formed. The bloom is different, and is applied later. It can change the color appearance of the egg.

My 2 young chickens when they first laid eggs, their eggs were the ballerina pink color for the first 2 days. And now the eggs are brown.
Not an uncommon thing
👍 interesting! Thank you!😊
So nice of you
Two of my Speckled Sussex lay pink eggs. I don't recommend them though unless you want a broody chicken. Also their eggs are small.
Thanks for sharing!

I keep finding different information on if uroporphyrin plays a role in eggs with a pinkish tint.... does it?
The information I’ve seen has all been anecdotal, so maybe?
