I felt so bad for Ji. This fight really felt like a dance, and he deserved a third phase. He was the one to bear a curse, and the least I could do was give him the dramatic end he wanted. He knew death was in store. He knew that everything he swore to protect would be destroyed in the end. And yet, he never gave up, and he waited until the right moment to have his perfect end. Ji deserved more
3rd phase would have been wicked but man such a great design overall. Such a good ost behind this boss fight. The fight itself fairly easy compared to others but just enough of difficulty to keep you in your toes but also appreciate the music behind it. Truly one of the best fights I’ve ever had
The most epic song for such a fun fight. Not the most hard but just enough for you to sit back and enjoy this amazing song. Incredible design all around
At first it sounds like a ruthless blizzard, sounded by the thunder. Gradually, it calms, starting to be more ordered, tranquil. And then, at 1:07... All i can think of is beatiful sunset, emerging from the dissipating clouds, lightening them and the wery top of the mountain, where two warriors dueling in the golden rays of setting sun... I haven't play the game by the way.
@@temxasremd maybe not you, but their comments sound like over-interpretation 😂 (of course, there's a chance that the rythm and characteristics of the bassdrum have been chosen to remind the listener of a heartbeat.. 🤷)
Ji is the family name of Kings in the Zhou Dynasty. The Ji we fight in Nine Sols is most likely based on Ji Chang (or Xi-bo Chang, King Wen of Zhou). Ji Chang is one of the most notable masters of divination, who uses small chips of wood and banboo to fortell the future--the throwing knives he used in the boss fight. He is also known for longevity, living for 100 years and having 100 children, the 4th of them being Zhou Gong, who is likely an inspiration for Eigong. "Ji" the word itself can mean "princess", which might give rise to his juvenile, feminine form when you first meet him. And his epic death scene. That's a full adaptation of Roy Batty's death scene from Blade Runner. No one should miss it.
The original wording of achievement for killing Ji is "Everything reunites in Tao", but in the English version, it becomes "Come, Sweet Death". This is, hilariously, an Neon Genesis Evangelion reference. Search "Komm, Susser Tod" for the song it refers to.
@ According to my limited understanding, ancient Chinese ppl used 3/6/9/100 to refer to different extents of being numerous. Square numbers like 49/81/100 has mystical powers, and 28/36/72/108 has astrological importance corresponded to certain constellations. Numerology in a different context, eh?
I used a charged attack build with qi blast technique on that boss, and god damn, was it such an anime battle! I absolutely loved this boss, not very hard, yet just enough challenge to enjoy. Incredible.

Twink obliteration theme!
😭😭
I've heard of "twinkdeath" but this is ridiculous!
twink on twink violence
to be fair he escaped twinkdeath for some billions of years
i can hear heartbeat in this song, which is disappearing at the end
Fuck now I hear it too after listening to it again
guys that's just the bassdrum of the 90s breakbeat with a fadeout at the end of the track lol..

Holy shit, you aren't wrong. Character themes for this game are so well done & they tie to character quite intricately.

@@BS-ru6lp Oh my God, as an Evangelion fan, I feel ashamed for not noticing that
Living for 100 years and having 100 children? Damn Ji…
What if many solarians were actually descendants from Ji lol
What's the deal with Chinese mythology and being obsessed with weirdly specific numbers?

I miss JI
It's a serious and melancholic theme, because all Ji really wanted was his final curtain call.
Immortality is a curse, never a blessing.
For some, it is indeed a curse. But for a special few with a unique perspective…immortality is a blessing
SUCH A BANGER
Ji is immortal yet he chose to die the coolest way
Oh my god, Sol Ji os my favorite!
Such a tragic theme. Ji was fighting a battle he already knew he would lose. Amazing!

I like how the beat sounds like a beating heart
Yo buddy, I gotta thank you for putting the soundtrack on yt
but you gotta have the composers in the video descriptions or something
Those who accept the Tao needn't seek immortality. Harmony avoids such things. Ji's final words reflect that wisdom, "all is one in the Tao".
I'm sorry for this but:
