Laxmi Narayan Tripathi is the first transgender rights activist to represent Asia pacific in UN 2008. She is a Hindi film actress and a Bharatnayam dancer based in Mumbai. Also an Ex-Bigg Boss contestant. Laxmi has served NGOs which conduct LGBT activist work. In 2007 she started her own organisation, Astitva which works to promote the welfare of sexual minorities, their support and development.

Indian parents look at their sons as retirement plans. A money-making machine. Make him an engineer, doctor, or businessman. Then get him married to a "susheel, sanskari, sundar kanya" and then lord over both son and daughter-in-law.
Traditional Indian parents are the font of poison and prejudice.
And they must teach their daughters to respect men.
No. I disagree with this. My opinion is, every parents must teach their sons to respect who are respectable. Not because of anyone's gender because respect does not come from gender, it comes from good works.

I am just overwhelmed by the comments... Anyone could sense so much acceptance, respect and the will to change towards a progressive India. I could not understand then why are such voices never provided space by our mass media? Why is the voice of the youth not given space when such issues are addressed in national television? Why does this voice could only manage it's space in such comments from where it cannot reach to the masses?
This made the fact very clear that India is not that much intolerant as much it is projected, it is just that such voices and progressive openions are least provided with opportunity to reach the masses and let people also hear the other side!

In other languages, various endings indicate whether a noun or pronoun is a masculine, feminine, or neuter entity.
