I think we saw you while herring hunting in the bay area. Where are your videos at Skinny Penguin?!

My husband and I love watching your videos and I've gotten into a lot of outdoor food finding like fishing and foraging. It was a little difficult for me to start fishing because I'm also an Asian woman but seeing how great you are at it gives me more confidence. Is there anyway I can support you through either Patreon or Kofi so that you can continue to make amazing videos like this?

wow thanks for the comment. I originally make those video just for recording and sharing with friends, but now i realized that it could also help to encourage women (including quite a few of my female friends) to get into outdoor! This idea actually motivated me to make better vids, thanks! I dont have Patreon or Kofi set up but thanks for the intention!

Coccora are plenty in our neck of woods but no matsutake although there are rumors of hidden spots somewhere in the Santa Cruz mountain. During the good years when there are ample October rains, you can get lots and lots of chanterelle. Few years ago, I got close to 100 lbs but then I got sick of eating them lol. For Coccoras be very careful with the ID since they could be mistaken for the deadly Amanita phalloides.

this year chanterelles r very poor. matsutake - i found them last year along sonoma coast, but not this year. it is way too dry for mushrooms lately.. :( Coccoras ID - yea amanita family is difficult. i added disclaimer in the video

@@skinnypenguin5857 Yup saw your disclaimer after I posted my comment ;-). Even in bad years, Coccora are always there. Also, Santa Cruz to Monterey by the coast are always good due to their proximately to the ocean and you can always get King bolete from there. That reminds me, I should go check my potential spots for Black Trumpets... maybe they are late this year.

Where are you in "Northern California," I am in Humboldt near Arcata and Northern California can literally mean like anything north of LA. We picked these same mushrooms today, a few blocks away from my house.
