Hi Shwetal it's very sad to know that you had to leave your previous home in Lockdown. Why is it so hard to get a rented apartment for any immigrant in Germany? finding a rented home in Germany is quite difficult one. EVEN IN INDIA BACHELORS ARE FIND IT VERY DIFFICULT TO GET A RENTED HOME. I don’t know where in Germany you’re looking, but if you are in a major city like Munich, Hamburg, Stuttgart, Cologne etc., rest assured it is hard for anyone and everyone to find an apartment. Demand is high and supply low. In the cities, you apply for an apartment almost like you would for a job. Landlords are looking for financial security. They may be regular people who are still paying mortgage for the property you’re looking to rent. They are trying to make sure a potential tenant is financially stable, and typically require a copy of your employment contract (preferrably, open-ended) copies of your last three pay slips ( the rent shouldn’t exceed 30% of your monthly net income) a copy of your ID and an impeccable credit record (Schufa-Bescheinigung) to be attached to your application. Some apartments are advertised for open viewing on a fixed date. If you go to one of those, have all of said documents ready in a binder. Dozens of people will show up, and those who don’t have their stuff ready to hand over to the agent or landlord, will most likely not hear back from them. If the apartment is advertised with an email contact, you should attach to your email a rendered pdf that includes all of the above documents. Yes, disclosing sensitive financial information, basically stripping naked before someone you don’t even know, for an apartment you haven’t even seen, should never be asked of you, and mostly it isn’t, at least not explicitely. so WHATEVER IS HAPPENED HAPPEND SO PUT A SIDE OF ALL THESE BAD THINGS, MEMORIES. Some apartments are advertised for open viewing on a fixed date. If you go to one of those, have all of said documents ready in a binder. Dozens of people will show up, and those who don’t have their stuff ready to hand over to the agent or landlord, will most likely not hear back from them.
If the apartment is advertised with an email contact, you should attach to your email a rendered pdf that includes all of the above documents.
Yes, disclosing sensitive financial information, basically stripping naked before someone you don’t even know, for an apartment you haven’t even seen, should never be asked of you, and mostly it isn’t, at least not explicitely.
so WHATEVER IS HAPPENED HAPPEND SO PUT A SIDE OF ALL THESE BAD THINGS, MEMORIES. DON'T BE DEMORALISE BE CONFIDENT N RELAX.
