Way to go guys! I was a licensed falconer for many years when I was younger. Birds of prey are spectacular creatures. The only reason I haven’t continued with falconry is the tremendous time commitment.
Oh this is so exciting. I can hardly wait to see the Muse going up. I wonder what the doggies will think of their new feathered bother. I was thinking that when Sherlock is installed and happy in his new surroundings I am sure he will molt sometimes and I for one would love to buy one of his cast off feathers and if others would buy feathers it would help offset his keep. Another idea would be to put a feather in with the annual calendar you put out. Take care guys and have a lovely summer building your Train Barn and Muse.

This is amazing, guys! I've just started a mentorship with a local falconer who has a Eurasian eagle owl called Mumbles. They're amazing, beautiful birds. Not going to presume to give any advice, but happy to be here for moral support if ever needed! This is so exciting and best of all, you're taking Sherlock on for all the right reasons ❤

What a commitment for you two, I know he will have the Best Life you can give Sherlock. ❤ Here in Idaho We have the Birds of Prey World Center. I often visit esp when they bring out the ones that sit on the handlers arms. They repopulated the California Condors and returned them to the wild there. Good work!
Sherlock is very handsome, and I can see why you're excited to add him to your critters. As for me, ever since I saw the Queen's beautiful fell pony, Emma, that's what I would have chosen, with all the lovely countryside there for riding. ❤🥰😍🤩

Another brilliant change for you. So does this really mean practically that the train barn is put off for a while? Once Shaun has built the enclosure what will you be doing as it sounds as if Colin now has a full time job with Sherlock? This is such an exciting development, would you want to possibly breed him ? The train barn isn’t put off. Shaun isn’t building that, builders are 👍🏻 We won’t be breeding from him, that would just add to the pressure of keeping his young captive too. x

It’s very difficult to set up, both practically and financially, because the enclosures are too far from the house, so would need long cables running for internet and power.
Congrats on Sherlock! Raptors in general are a great responsibility, but they provide great rewards. I'm a falconer here in the US and I love the challenge, interactions, and rewards that I get from my birds every day! I'm looking forward to seeing all the great things to come from your new relationship with Sherlock. This makes me so happy to see. You guys are already doing a great job!
"Who's the Twit?" .. oh no, sorry, it's "Twit the who" - I know, terrible! Love owls - their eyes are fixed in place, so they cannot move them like most animals can, which is why they need a head that can turn 270 degrees. Also, one ear is slighty higher on one side of the head than the other. This is so the owl can pinpoint exactly where a sound is coming from.
How exciting!!! What a wonderful opportunity!! Can't wait to see how all this comes together. Such a new adventure. So different from the canals. Looking forward to the next phase of Foxes Afloat...in the air and all around.
