The breakdown part of this song is a sample of a song from 1972 called "Scorpio"!! The artist behind "Scorpio" is Dennis Coffey & The Detroit Guitar Band. "Scorpio" was a crossover r&b hit. It peaked on the Billboard Top 10 on both the pop and the soul charts. Awesome song, indeed!!!

so many hip hop songs came out in '89 that set the stage for the golden age of '90's hip hop. this is foundation rap and hip hop at its finest. hip hop doesn't have to be vulgar to be great.

That summer and year of music for 1989 was epic. All you need to do is look at the Billbard top 100 for 1989 and start at #1 and go down. The mixture of music that year was amazing.

Howdy, I remembered another club song from the early 90s, late 80s. "Finally" by CeCe Peniston. I also recommend Tone Loc & CC Music Factory...ha ha...again. I took a dance class at community college in '91/'92 and had to learn a choreographed dance to "Finally." It was awful. Ha ha. This song got a lot of radio play and the video has 37M views. Thanks for doing another Billy Idol song. Adam Ant's "Goody Two Shoes" is another along the vein of "quite a character!" Enjoy your evening.

Back in Grade 10, when this was fresh on the radio, we said "Move it Boy" like at the end of the song, and we still say it today !!! Gotta check out "The Principal's Office", also by Young MC. It was the second song that made it big.

Yeah, this was a huge hit in '89, played all over the place. I can still recite all the words. It was a hit at about the same time as Rob Base and DJ E-Z Rock's "It Takes Two" was all over the place, and I liked to listen to both of those with Def Jef's "Droppin' Rhymes on Drums."

People keep saying this shit to get likes, but it's not true. You are suffering from selection (confirmation) bias.
There was (and had been throughout history) foul language and sexual or violent acts in art, forever. _You_ just weren't there to experience it.
And there is still a majority of art today that is not obscene or reliant on shocking imagery. _You_ are just ignoring all those cases to seek confirmation for what you think is an actual general trend.
Learn some actual history (and statistical reasoning) for fucks' sake, and stop saying stupid shit 'cause it's popular to do so.

@@NoActuallyGo-KCUF-Yourself Oh boy, Mr Soapbox is here...
It's called POP CULTURE, rocket surgeon, anyone can dig up foul language music from any generation - but stop acting like there's always been fucking gangster rap & trap-like music "forever". Shit, it's not like it's a coincidence that this music literally grew as drug trafficking grew.

    -got more rhymes
    -stone cold buggin
    -just say no
"You miss 100% of the shots you dont take" it might of come from former nba player jay williams, if it wasnt him, he popularised it.

so glad you got this one :) Young MC is one the most underrated , and one of the GOAT story tellers . What most don't know he was the ghost writer for "Tone Loc", and had multiple hits at the same time . Unfortunately for these artists ,gangster rap exploded , and fun/ dancing rap lost popularity over night
