Show all purchases may not be an option. In most cases buying a song to have in your library works. Not guaranteed though.
After more recent updates. Menu options are different, so this may or may not work for some. Depending on your vehicle, some still have success and others don’t.

I have a kickin stereo in my VW Beetle and I could hook up my phone via Bluetooth or usb and it played off my TH-cam or Spotify.I have traded my Galaxy S22 for an I iPhone 14 and got into my car and realized I didn’t think that through too well and that now my expensive stereo is now worthless. I almost cried, that’s a lot of money I do got to throw around like that. You solved my problem man. So thank you very very much. The urge to cry is gone and now I’m smiling like I usually do when watching you😅😊🎉❤

Yea it’s a pain, because stuff like that is updated often. So support tends to be hard to find. Even now since we’re a few iOS updates newer this only works with certain vehicles now.

For some reason that show all purchases doesn’t pop up on my phone when I got to Apple Music
i recently switched to spotify and the other day i deleted my last apple music song. i would have never connected the two, that that was why music wasn’t playing on my car anymore. thank you!!!!

Damn all week I was wondering what was going on. Realized I deleted the Apple Music app and it messed up my settings. Downloaded the app, now I’m back to listening to music on my other apps. Thanks man!

We’ll give it a try. My wife has a 2012 Honda Fit and an iPhone XR. She get that “iPod No Song code and can’t play anything from her phone using the built-in USB port cable connected to the stereo. Thanks for your help man!

They changed it. Looks like now you have to be subbed to Apple Music to get it to show all purchases.

I also figured this out when my husband got the new iphone 12, that it only will connect with Apple Music either streaming or with a song added to the library first as the base, then you can switch to Pandora or youtube. Just another frustrating thing about Apple trying to control what you do with your phone. How many people out there are only playing Apple Music now or bought a subscription to Apple Music to get something as simple as a bluetooth connection working again!!?? Definitely an intentional tech savy move by APPLE, taking advantage of people that can't figure out a workaround and in 2022, at their price point, why are we figuring out workarounds for something as sinple as music! That's why I stick with Samsung Galaxy, technology at your fingertips without the control.

What do I do if show all purchases isn’t there??
I believe it was gone, but they seem to have brought it back. Go to settings and scroll down to music. It’ll show the Apple Music logo but doesn’t no longer says Apple Music. Just music now. Click it and there’s a show all purchases option.

They changed it. You have to be subbed to Apple Music now to show it. Infotainment in vehicles don’t get updated to adjust to that.
Depending on your model. Using pandora may work as a base instead of Apple Music.

It varies from vehicle to vehicle. In the car here I used a standard USB to lightning cable. The older one, before they started putting USB-C to lightning with the phones now.
This car had a USB connector in the glove box. Other vehicles sometimes have a USB port somewhere either in the arm rest or somewhere near the radio.
What’s the difference between usb and usb ipod?
USB is typically used for other devices that aren’t running iOS… most automakers cater to iOS and tend to have a separate mode for it. does the same thing, but usually works better as the software is usually easier to deal with.
AUX is usually less of a hassle to be honest. You just have to control your music on your phone.
Can you help please? I have the iPhone 15 pro max and I can’t play in my car where I would usually just connect with a Aux cord. Before Apple, I had a Samsung and I played without issues. A lot of people on Apple community has had issues with this and there’s no help from Apple. The solutions some people have found don’t work for me. My phone”s software is up to date. The issue is “Microphone not working when plugged to AUX on iPhone 15 Pro Max” by author BronteAP

My problem was I have a my music playlist in gallery mp4 downloaded. Music was playing but when i connected to car via bluetooth. i can’t use the skip button I have to click manually to phone. Even my playlist on youtube account

This didn’t work for me. My phone will charge but will not recognize when I go to AUX. I’ve tried other USB cables and phones and nothing.
I can get Bluetooth calls.
If you are using a charging cable you can't go to AUX. You have to use the system function. If you want to use AUX you have to connect with an aux cable. It has a headphone jack, so you'd have to have an adapter.

In my vehicles glove compartment there is a female USB A connecter. If your vehicle has a connection it could be located elsewhere, like your middle compartment that you rest your arm on. Or the small compartment under your radio near the 12V socket that you plug your car charger into.
I connected to that so I can change songs with the radios controls, while driving.
AUX Is an option but you'll have to control your music from your device still.
On your car there should be a button to change your radio to a different mode.
It might say media or something similar. You need to change it to USB mode.

Hi! Thank you for these info! I just got my 2014 prius c today and we tried to play spotify, it plays on my phone but not in the car. I have already purchased music from iTunes back then before switching to spotify. Do i still need to purchase another song? Also when i checked music settings on my iphone, the show purchases button has been on already. I did disconnect my phone Bluetooth from car and reconnect, still not working. So do I have to buy 1 more song? Please help anyone please.. thank you

What to do if you have samsung?
Depends on your vehicle. If it's an older one. It's likely it doesn't work for Android. Most manufacturers catered to iPhone with the car tech. So if you don't have Bluetooth or Android auto. Try an AUX cable

Would this work with Spotify ?
You can play Spotify as well as anything else on your device. You just need apple music to be installed.
Think of apple music as a path. Your vehicle is made to connect to an apple device. So naturally it needs to connect to something. Which is apple music. Once your vehicle detects it, you can play any audio from anywhere else.

go to settings > scroll down and select music > scroll down and click the switch, to show all purchases.
alternatively, if that doesn't work you can try.
open the music app then > account settings (it may ask for password) > scroll down to "hidden purchases"

My issue with Apple Car Play is that it only shows my "Recently Downloaded" folder. It will not show my entire Library. I have to go to the Library in my phone and select the music I want. I can't get there from my screen in my 2020 RAM truck. I just switched from the iPhone 10 to the 13 Pro Max and there is no change in the music issue. So that being said, it's not the phone as the dealership will tell you.
I don't have carplay, but my girlfriend does. I'll connect to her car later and take a look!

I'm not finding "show all purchases". Were you working in iOS 14? I have iOS 15 and it's not there. My husband updated to iOS 15 (finally) yesterday and now he can't play his music with his usb in the car.
Make sure Sync Library is on for IOS 15
