Why does Lucy get an allowance from Mr. Mooney? Didn't she work for him at some point? I don't understand. Who gets an allowance from their boss?
She worked for him in later seasons. During the earlier seasons, I believe Mr. Mooney managed the money in the bank from her late husband.

Yes, MR Moony managed the trust fund set up for her by her late husband. He left specific instructions for My Mooney to not give in to Lucy even if she cried. No advances.
She had a large settlement from her husband. Mr Mooney (the bank)has control. Later… she worked for him.
I remember typing in manual, then electric typewriters and taking shorthand.

The character of Ethel Martz looked wonderful. She was never frumpy or dowdy. She was always dressed very nicely and she had a nice shapely figure.

When Lucy starts on the Lucy show. Lucy and Viv share Lucy house in Danville. Lucy husband has passed away. If left money for her. Mr Mooney is in charge of Lucy allowance that she gets every month. Later Lucy moves to California. She works for Mr Mooney as his Secretary. Her daughter is in college and her son goes to Military school. You never see her children.

That isn't true. Her children appeared in at least one episode and they weren't college or adult age. They were still kids.

They didn't want to show the husbands as They knew That I Love Lucy would greatly over shadow anything they did afterwards.

They had colour televisions in the 1950s but buying a TV was a big purchase for most people. They went straight to black and white!

@@laurac1032 Omg I just found out she passed away in 1999 😔 I was so hoping she was alive but elderly. But sadly she probably would have died if she didn't die back then since she was born 1913.
It's a shame that Lucy and Vivian were in color. Color was new to TV. It cost a bunch of money. By 1964 Mostly all TV shows were in color.
1969 was when they advertised everything in colour!

Color was NOT New to TV by the 60s. It was just more expensive than to film in Black and white and studios were cheap.
