I remember this! It was early 1990s, maybe 1992-1993. I think the charm was the ident was so abstract. My young mind didn't understand that it was just a visual guide to when the upcoming programmer would start. It was just a mystery, magical. The music was great. All those synths remind me of the Brookie theme tune, I loved watching the intro sequence, looked so '80s.
Love the music... a timeless classic, and the 60 second countdown clock was a brilliant feature, too. I liked the way the lights went out after every second.
A W E S O M E ! ! ! :) Upon hearing this I was instantly sent back in time 20 years to being 6 years old and off Primary School, poorly with a cold, on the sofa, watching this! :) AMAZING THANK YOU
It's The Journey by Brian Bennett (of The Shadows drumming fame). It was released under the pseudonym "James Aldenham" on Music House International production music library
6:00 Wow that brought back memories of when I started school in 1992-93 and watching ITV Schools on TV in school. The TV would be wheeled into the classroom and we would told to sit on the floor and watch this on the TV. I remember the spinning 3D logo and that music, but not actually what the shows we watched were about. It also brought back a memory of one of my classmates always sitting and moving about to the music.
We all used to listen when the music played back in those days - remember the music but not much about the educational content of the programmes :) Very chilled. Yeah, someone should remix this
Takes me right back this does! I think ITV were using this before 1990 because I remember seeing this during my primary school years, and I finished primary school in 1988.
I think the title of this tune is called 'The journey' It might be by Brian Bennett. Dont quote me on the artist. I'm sure however the tune is called The journey.
Back in my day, the schools programmes were still on ITV! Has to be said I remember more BBC programmes for schools than I do ITV ones, but I particularly recall the history series "How We Used To Live" from ITV's schools programmes!
Although a new ITV logo was launched in September 1989, the coloured logo was continued for usage as part of the 'ITV schools on Channel 4' strand until Monday, 28 June 1993.
What a blast from the past. However living in wales S4C and HTV decided to change it to a welsh clock work dragon which was fine video editing back then. The music was also not the same but there doesnt appear to be much on yout ube about the S4C version
There is a really good video of the ITV logo breaking up at exactly the right time with the music - with some clever editing in Adove Premiere or something it could be made to last the full 6 minutes. I can't paste a link to the video here - but I will message it you. The TH-cam user with the video is ARTF.
ok, sounds interesting... might do a page on what i remember about it then if I ever get the time to so its a bit of a variation on the subject.... thanks for the info on the CGI / tunes. Now i can put a name to them! Yeh a Remix would be pretty funky!
if this programme ever gets aired can you let me know when. itv schools played a big part in my life when i was a kid. dont know why they stopped them. i'd still watch them today if they were.
im looking for video footage of the rotating ITV. i would to make a video exactly 6 mins with the ITV square breaking up at the end. then i would add the full version of the journey to it. no one seems to have a full version of this happening as the music was always broken up and went onto the minute clock to start the programme. can anyone help?
i need help does anyone remember the magic pen??....with a light on the end which showed handwriting and how to write letters correctly ...was it on itv schools programmes and when were they shown...at the end ?
i have the full version here. it last exactly 6 mins. i play sometimes when im chilling out. it works a treat. i should be able to send you it through email if you give me your email add.

This is a pretty epic composition, I have really enjoyed listening to it repeatedly. Very impressive and awe inspiring score.
Oh this has taken me right back. Reminds me of being off sick from school. Thank you for uploading this. 🥲
Definitely remember this 20 years ago. Those were the days, miss them badly.

mintminty59 Type in the keywords "S4C Ysgolion". That will lead you to some S4C footage.

Both The Journey and Just a Minute, sound a whole lot better in stereo
I have to agree with the last two post, but Hopeful that TV ark section will be up soon!"
Where can we get an MP3 of the first song please, I love it,

I think that you're better off letting James Hudson to do that. He's going to launch a "mini site" on TV ARK sometime in early 2009.
Love this, thanks very much :-)
I saw that being repeated the other week on TV! BBC2 I think it was! Or channel 4.
Who's up for a REMIX!!!!????
A Musical Track 🎵🎵🎵
I tought I let you know that schools mini site will be launched in early september
Actualy could be "words and pictures"
