Vince Clarke, the man, the myth, the synth legend... 🙌🏻😎🖤
the walter white of the analog music, he controls everything but you don't know it's him 😆
@@_LuisFernandes_ He's the man behind the curtain, except he's got real magic.
Utterly gorgeous. We were so spoiled back then and had no idea just how much. The video director should take a bow too.
Vince Clarke: the motionless, enigmatic synth-pop genius!
He's a Clever Dick
Vincent Clarke - Genius Synthpop ! DM/The Assembly/Yazoo/Erasure...Greets From Poland ;-)
Feargal reunited with Vince for a one-off performance of this song at the Roundhouse in Chalk Farm in 2011. He hadn’t performed in front of a crowd in 20 years
Vince Clarke is a musical legend!
Still one of the best songs from the 80's
In Memory of my wife, i miss you
Sorry for your loss.
May God bless you
God bless you sir 🙏
That comment made me cry
I also cried for the first time in 10 years when I read this comment.I truly believe you and your wife will meet again.
This song is so sad. I love New Wave but never heard this one until today. Made me tear up.
Vince, was one of the most prolific songwriters and performers of the eighties, his time with Fergal ,then Alison was great, he helped propel them to the great artists they are today, if you watch his interviews ,he say why he moved on till he found Andy, thank you for the great music Vince. I play his music daily. The eighties was the last great decade of incredible music.
Depeche Mode
That little jingle at 0:58 is the beginning of his signature Erasure sound, playful and fun.
Still got this on vinyl, and will cherish it forever as it brings back great memories. :)
❤
Wunderschöne Musik ...
yazoo was before the assembly
Beautiful. I had the enormous pleasure of seeing Fergal and Vince performing this at the Roundhouse in Camden.
At the time i was amazed how Vince Clarke got a strum effect from a synth. Frickin' genius!
So melancholic, so excellent, a bit underrated. For me one of the greatest
Vince Clark, one of unsung heroes of music, one of those who set the direction for music in the '80s.
Two genius together. Their work was very short and very bright. Like a fuse. Maybe that was the way it was ment to be, but I still dream of a reunion.
I forgot all about this song and hadn’t heard it in over 30 years. What a lovely blast from the past!
I haven't heard this track since around 1985 so almost 40 years ago!
Wouldn't have found this if I didn't go down the Depeche Mode rabbit hole (led to Erasure and then this.)
Same here. And my 14year old self came back.
I first heard it in a pub playing on the jukebox back in 1993, I found it a few years later on an '80s compilation CD. Been a favourite of mine ever since
Happy birthday, Mr. Feargal Sharkey! 🤩
God bless the Travellers in this video.. I hope they went on to live good long lives...
This is gorgeous and I wish they would've delivered us a full album. You can hear so many of the seeds of Wonderland in this song.
I come from similar circumstances. I can tell you word for word the conversations between the adults, the fights and sheer frustration of life. For kids, it matter very little because that’s all we knew.
The pictures in the clip are incredible... this family, kids, dogs, leave in the caravane. Where is? Who are this family? What have they become today?
Fergal and Vince is amazing.
wunderschöner Song, das waren noch Zeiten.
VINCE....perfect Songwriting....Depeche Mode - Speak and Spell - ONLY YOU - Robert Marlow. GENIUS OF OUR GENERATION!!!!!
It's actually such a great video for a great a song. A glimpse to what 1983 was like and the life of a family. I hope they are okay.
Feargal and Vince, brilliant.
This song should've became a radio hit song in the U.S.
A good extended version of a classic.
As we all get older and our distance from the wonderful musical eighties increases, songs like this are jewels that we should never be parted from.
Feargal and Vince, huge thanks for making this song and vid..To the uploader, thanks for bringing back wonderful youthful memories..
Word. One of the quirkiest hits in 1984, by far the greatest year in music in my view. I remember it well.
Beautiful beautiful song
Vince sound signature is timeless!
Vince Clarke = Genius
Still a tremendous song. The B side Stop/Start was a really good instrumental as well.
Top tune. Vince is a synth genius
i knew this song and forgot about it, but then i heard it in gta vcs and almost spilled my drink... now i remember playing that game, driving sports car at midnight thru vice beach, put emotions radio and enjoy 1980s neon lights....
I remenber the game GTA vice story
I knew Vince was in The Assembly but had never heard their stuff. Had no idea Feargal Sharkey was involved. Awesome.
It is a great track. And I love Feargals voice. Glad that Vince parted with DM though so he could do his own stuff and DM theirs.
He also created DM and set them on the path to success before leaving, and then he created Yazoo and Erasure. I have nothing to say other than simply that Vince is amazing.
Never Never tired of listening. Thank You
Just beautiful
Never heard this extended version before....thank you sooooo much for the upload
This man is an angel , a prophet, so fuckin talented English in music
Vince Clarke...Depeche Mode,Yazoo,The Assembly,Erasure...
Vincy, we looooove you! :) (this song is such a masterpiece)
great track. I did quite the same comment here : th-cam.com/video/O5NdaeQAHR4/w-d-xo.html
I was just thinking this, he really is a great song writer yet almost anonymous.
Kordo don't forget feargl sharky
With PAUL QUINN IN 1986 th-cam.com/video/Ptv7kIxvZCw/w-d-xo.html
Always loved this extended version. Bought the record back in the day and never seen the video that went with this!! Until today! Wow Thankyou for sharing 👍 great times
Even though there were no words the B-side Stop/Start was brilliant
Weekly dances at the Roundabout and then the Roxy downtown Barrie - this was my favorite song to slow dance to - I couldn't wait for Saturday nights. Does anyone slow dance anymore? If we ever invent a time machine I don't think I could go back because I wouldn't trust myself to return.
All i want to do is... to sit next to vince....and watch him how he is creating this song. From beginning til the end. In this year.... without computers and high tech tools. Its really magic...this simple beats....and how they transform into a beautiful melody.
Do you think this was made in the 1950s or something? They very much had computers when this was released, no computers, no synths. 80s Synthesisers were to all intents and purposes computers filled with chips and electronics.
Even I had a computer back then and I was 6/7 - a Commodore 16+ iirc, might have been the Vic20. The 80s is best known for being electronic music wise, all synths and drum loops - Stock Aitken and Waterman would never have made it big without computers (which wouldn't have been a bad thing).
@@pittibarlin8692 in the early 80ies i only know commodore c64 and later amiga computers.
By this stage, Vince was well into using the Fairlight CMI - a very expensive, computer-based synthesizer - along with various sequencers and other computerized electronic music gadgets.
While his music itself was composed of simple melodies stitched together, the process was very much hi-tech at the time.
Vince made it clear he was an early adopter of computers in music, so much so that they allowed him to make his own music without the need for others. If you enjoyed his music in the ‘80s onwards, you’ll very much see him reliant of a computer.
@@pittibarlin8692 The Commodore 16 wasn't released until 1984, while the VIC-20 had been available since 1980, if this would help. Before he started using computers, Vince used sequencers, which could loosely be considered a form of computing. He was indeed an early adopter of computers in music, starting with the Fairlight CMI and then swithing to the UMI software running on a BBC Micro computer, which he ended up using through the 1980s.
Heavy emotion song 😥
Besides good heart this is by far his greatest song beautiful vocals
An amazingly creative person! Not one effort he’s created that I didn’t love. The bleachers just put an * on it!
Thanks Richard from the EIS for linking us this in today's erasure info email. So happy/sad to hear this melody again after so many years.
WHAT SPECIAL SONG LOVE IT. ONE OF THE BEST and the video is super special remembering that era
This is BEAUTIFUL!!!
The little boy running backwards at the start... I'm 52 and still can't do that.... Amazing!
Do you try often? I'm 42, I'm gonna try doing it later on. I can't remember if I've ever done it so it should be a fun experience 😋
I love this song, beautiful video!!
Just what can anybody say but the word AWESOME, TOTAL AWESOMENESS 👌
Ich liebe diesen Song
Amazing song
Truly gorgeous, a lost link between Yazoo, Erasure - and a certain Talk Talk. Plus there's a ghostly presence of "One Day" Vince delivered with Paul Quinn, another gorgeous crooner ballad.
Well said
Happy 60 Vince!
80s music videos are the best
Vince Clark Espero este año conocerte por favor 🙏 si.
Asi sera.
Feliz Año 2023.

AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME AND F........G EPIC..... ALWAYS... 😊
Pure masterpiece. Sadly, this is the only record from the whole album had been planned.
Perfect
magic
I think Vince Clarke and Chris Lowe (Pet Shop Boys) were having a competition in the 1980's to see which of them could look the most suicidal in videos/on stage. Both of them looked so moody pretty much all the time.
Well, Vince is apparently dead in the video for Erasure's "Always" (looks like his photo is on a grave marker). Does he win? 😉
If only there' had of been more from Yahoo
The second l.p. you and me both kind of sounds like it's saying this is the end a melancholy feel to it at times
I had to move to my aunties in the eighties and I used my cousins music to keep me insane, fell asleep with this version many nights ✌️👍
This song kept you insane?
Ahora estoy escuchando esta nueva cancion y me parece maravillosa , es tan sincera.
Enyone in 2024😀
Brings back some memories for me.Not all good ones either! Love this song though.Long live 80’s music 👍
Unfortunately music does exactly that, brings back memories of good and bad. We were privileged to have lived through the great times. Take care 👍
Oh my god! Perfect!
From my city of Derry.
The best .

Bring back 12 inch remixes!!!!

Alison Moyet should do a version of this
This was my song. Many decades later diagnosed as Autistic. Explain why it never never happened to me. Eventually it did aged 37.
It took decades to diagnose you? Geez, medical services really have improved over the years.
What happened at 37, out of curiousity?
I hear it as a possible Yazoo track. If Alison sang this, wow.
