I just bought a 2011 Camry LE with 108,000 miles on it. The Carfax report was a little spotty; but, it runs great, and it has fresh oil. It started out as a Texas car for a couple years, then ended up in the Pacific Northwest. Not knowing the whole history, the very first thing I did was a transmission service, and replaced the serpentine/drive belt. I can’t believe your dad didn’t at least replace the belts after all those miles. Tomorrow, it is getting a brand new set of all season tires, and a alignment a couple days after that. It was a quick purchase…somebody totaled my 2013 Honda Civic while it was parked on a curb; so, quick necessity to get some new wheels. I didn’t have time for a pre-purchase inspection by my mechanic; so, that was the first thing I did after I bought it. Moving forward, it will get oil changes every 5,000 miles, and new pligs/wires at about 120K miles along with a throttle body injection / fuel system service (motorvac). The brakes are at 95%, so that’s good. Cars last only as long as the maintenance you put into them. Mine also has the 2AR-FE 2.5 liter 4 cylinder. The 2AZ motor prior to that was prone to burning oil due to faulty piston rings.
@@AA-os1sg Everything was regular maintenance like oil changes and new tires except the air conditioning, a sensor (which wouldn't be an issue in other states that don't do emissions testing), and one brake line at 250,000 miles. The other brake lines were fine and parts and labor only costed $250 for the brake line. The sensor had something to do with dectecting emissions or something so it didn't effect the car but where I live emissions testing is mandatory so we had to replace the sensor. The bad sensor wasn't necessary but it was for me because it caused it to fail the emissions test. The exhaust developed a small hole later on that made it noisy but that was a cheap fix too.
Congrats. Hope my 2017 has the same reliability. Mine is an XSE model. Just have to watch out for people's driving. Been hit twice. Only have 60k so far, but I already drained and filled my tranny fluid and did a the same for my coolant. Hopefully I can hand it off to my kid when she can drive. Maybe in 2 or 3 yrs.
@@Sn0Pro7 Great! Glad you got it fixed. I have a 2017 Camry SE with 146k. Check engine light came on as a result of the fuel cap. I got a new one from an auto parts store, but after 100 miles the light was still on. Then I put the gasket from the new one onto the old fuel cap. The check engine light went off in 17 miles.
Does the clock in your father's car as well as yours still work, as well as the front hood struts, or have they been replaced? That's a lot of driving on both vehicles, how much of it has been open road driving?
Wheel covers from Amazon. One of the original ones broke. Check engine light ended up being for the evap system. Corroded charcoal canister I believe is what he replaced. He’s over 225k now.
@@Sn0Pro7 have a 2017 with 151000 miles, same engine and tranny. It has a shudder, from 20/50 mph from the transmission (torque converter). It began a long ago. I think it should still last a long time like, your even though the trans hasn't been touched. Do you have the same issue?

I have a 2011 Camry that had the shudder at 40 mph took it in for transmission service they drained the old transmission fluid replaced fluid and added lubeguard additive. The shudder was gone immediately I have driven it now for over 1,000 miles runs better than the day I bought it
I had same issue. There was a recall and they did something with my transmission but the issue remains. But my camry already had 221k miles and drives like new. No problems at all except alternator change. I changed that alternator myself watching YT and saved a lot of money

i have almost 400k on my 2011. many videos on it. sounds like yours will last forever with your maintenance routine.
I'm driving a 2002 Sienna with over 259,000 miles and it still runs and looks great.
At a high level do you mind sharing what you have done maintenance wise during the 215k if its been done in your ownership.

Check engine light could be as a result of the gasket on the fuel cap wearing down. You can check to see if it is rotting.
it was a charcoal cannister/emissions valve issue.

Why is the check engine on? if it is an evap code it could be the gas cap.
Or an oxygen sensor. Common at that mileage

Yes, all of the above still works. Not much highway/road trip driving. Lots of backroads and country roads
