  • Located in the heart of Paris' historic Les Halles district, the Église Saint-Eustache, which celebrates its 800th anniversary this year, has always had a close relationship with art, and with music in particular. The church, which has had an organ since the 15th century, has been home to some of the world's greatest composers, including Lully,
Rameau, Berlioz and even Mozart, who came for his mother's funeral.
To celebrate its 8th centenary, the church is hosting a series of immersive concerts with choir and orchestra for 21 exceptional performances from March 08 to May 18. Under the alternating direction of conductors Alexis Duffaure and Bertrand Causse, a group of 13 exceptional musicians including organ, harp, brass quintet, string quartet and percussion, and 24 exceptional vocalists - combining the celestial voices of the Saint-
Eustache choir to those of professional singers - will bring to life a masterfully rearranged repertoire of classical and sacred music.
They will cross the eras from the Middle Ages to the present day, with works by such masters as G. Fauré, A. Vivaldi, G. Holst, G. Haendel, C. Gounod and L. Vierne. They will perform in the choir of Saint-EustachE, taking advantage of the unique acoustics of this sacred space, amplified by a three-dimensional spatial sound system, enveloping the audience in a sense of space.
