JV and Cathy you seem like a sweet couple, GOD bless you both for saving life and putting life first!
The bible says, And not only this, but we also exult in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation brings about perseverance; and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope; and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

Probably to ensure they would have enough in case of some not taking or losses.

That is how many the bio couple had left after they had their baby/babies. Now that technology is so good that one embryo results in a baby, a bio couple having many left. It varies by mother and age. A woman under 30 sometimes can produce nearly 20 eggs from one IVF cycle.

Now that technology is so good, perhaps they should not fertilize all the eggs, freeze some of the eggs and fertilize only a couple at a time. It used to be most of the embryos did not implant, but that is no longer true.
