The new workshop looks like such a nice upgrade. I found similar damage on my Landau when I exposed the shockingly bad old repairs on it, the original metal of back of the rear quarter on the one you are working on might be savable, you could try planishing out the lumps with a slapping spoon and dolly, then go over the surface with a shrinking disc to lower the high spots (check out some of the 'wray schelin proshaper workshop' videos on YT). I have successfully repaired similar damage on mine this way, all panels metal finished. I really enjoy your videos and love your attention to detail, keep up the great work!
Hi, yep another one from Pete's channel, panel beater too, London uk, have you tried the Scotch-Brite™ Clean and Strip XT for the 4 1/2 inch grinders to strip out the bog, i used to work on london taxis and by christ do they have some bog in them, they work really well without damaging the steel too much, Nice shop,
when you start work on the XW, id love to hear your insight into bracing and where on the car you think it works/ doesn't work and when you'd think it should be used.
Have you seen the hand-held laser welder's available they appeared to cut and weld like drawing with a pencil, how do you think they would go with rust work?
Graham excellent work as usual - always enjoy your videos - but while you're there with the Landau - could you convince the owner to let you return those rear windows back to stock hardtop? For the sake of humanity and all things decent.
I'd be interested to see what process you follow when using phos acid. I don't seem to get great results when following the instructions per the TDS but have experimented and seem to have it down now 🙂
@@mattbaker5644 so with those acid washes for surface rust the trick is wipe it on (and wear gloves too) use a piece of scrotch bright helps get it in then once done wipe is off with a clean damp (not dripping wet) rag and dry with another rage as fast as possible and if it been neutralised the panel should end up with a blueish film on it and thats it
looking at that quarter before you ground out the ton of bog that was in it the line didn't look right now it looks right someone has really butchered that car before it came to you graham the xy looks not to bad compared to some i've seen peter andersen should be happy with his guards once you've worked your magic on them
Great job Graham. Loving the Landau and the XW project and well done for helping Peter Anderson out on his GXL.
i just enjoy helping everything
Dig the new shop, plenty of height to for pallet racking and more cars ✌
Great work Graham. Keep it up.

Hey Graham do you use any particular rust converter for surface rust or are they all the same?
Alot of the rust converters are the same stuff basically phosphoric acid
