GNR best song! Really epic, this is the most dramatic and intimate song of GNR, where AXL tells about his really inner thoughts and state of mind. AXL outro is poetic!
This song highlights exactly why I rate Slash as the best guitarist to ever play. It's not his speed, it's not his overly complicated technical stuff, it's not the egotistical wanking that guys like Malmsteen and Vai and to an extent Van Halen did. It's his sheer natural ability to COMPLIMENT a song. A good solo doesn't overtake or become the highlight of a song, its just the cherry on top. This song in particular has that in spades. The first solo is almost like another vocal partz the whining and almost screaming of the person trying to fight their way out of purgatory. The end that goes along with Axls outro singing just adds to the whole desperate and wanting theme of the song. This is some of Slashs guitar he's ever put on tape. Fucking phenomenal song and phenomenal solos. .
