Spent 4 yrs of my life in Mercer Bks (early 80s) absolutely loved it great times. A number of my old colleagues made it their home.

Thanks for this blast from the past. I was there in 1984 as my final posting. 12 Armd Wksp REME. Can't really say I enjoyed it, everything before that was LAD's which were a bit more interesting.

    Great video, thank you.
I remember this fondly, my friend and I arrived Christmas 1977 and stayed for 18 months.
My friend's sister was married to a sergeant in the Skins.
We lived in Belm, Heideweg was the street.
Ended up working in Karman, great times.

I went to visit my brother for 2 weeks and ended up staying 18 months! Worked in the naafi bar at one point in mercer barracks, and did child minding for a couples 2 daughters too, it was the best time of my life! Would love to revisit that time and place again and see some of the old faces

I am amazed that this much of the old camp is still standing. I was there with the A&SH in 1977-1979. All of the buildings adjacent to Am Limberg have gone, Mercer Bks Guardroom, etc. At least my old married quarter is still standing in Belm. Good days!

The camp, tank road and blocks of flats were purpose built for the British army and their dependants..
