I soooo appreciate a closeup tutorial, specially eyes. I don’t know why beauty gurus don’t do this more often. The original gurus were not afraid to record a video really close up, and videos weren’t e en that good back then. So THANK YOU, and “good on ya” for being vulnerable, and recording a closeup.
I can’t wait to try this! I hate doing a wing on my hooded eyes but this looks so much easier and makes so much sense for my eye shape! It honestly gives the same exact effect as a wing minus the frustration.
I’ve been doing this since 2001 😂 - girl with hooded eyes here!! The struggle with eyeliner is real for us hooded eye gals!! This is great knowledge for those that have been struggling! Looks great and you’re beautiful! ❤ Do it with a deep brown and it makes for such a beautifully soft but edgy look! My favorite!
if i see correctly is not at waterline is in the skin i never used before and i don’t know i don’t feel comfortable to do that and i really need to find solution
Yes. It is old school and very easy to do. Definitely doesn't take 20 mins. Less than five. Lol. Spence is the best makeup artist on TH-cam and off. I wouldnt use this technique on small eyes because it closes them off, making the eye look smaller but to each one's own.
What an excellent eye look tutorial! I saw a liner video similar to this on Lisa Eldridge, but the detail you went into added so much more information about how to do this. Loved it so much, and the look is so beautiful! (And, your new brush set is on it's way to me!)
GAME CHANGER!! Most creators suggest that those of us with hooded eyes line from the bottom, but I’ve never liked it because no one has connected it to the top lash line too. I’m definitely going to try this out, thank you for making it an in depth video 💜!
I am 70 years young and I enjoy your tutorial so much. Make up application has changed since I was a young woman but I still managed to maintain a beautiful appearance. I am going to try your techniques because it will be a new challenge for me. It’s like painting a portrait on a canvas. Every artist has their own technique. Thank you so much for your instructional tutorials. You are a beautiful young woman and I love your eyes. My eyes were always the focal point of my face. 🤗
I've been a makeup artist for ten years now, but I'm always trying to continue my education, so I greatly appreciate this video. My clients don't opt for a look like this super often, but I need to have something like this in my repertoire if someone ever asks for it! Thank you!
Thank you, thank you, thank you! This is the first Wing line tutorial I'm actually going to be successful in doing. All the other ones have been way too complex for me, and this is nice and easy, and something I know I can do. I'm going to practice on a day where I have nothing to do, and I'm just playing with my makeup and getting better and better at it. I really appreciate you doing this tutorial for us.
Targeting the hood to place the eyeshadow and *connecting* that shadow to the nose contour is so helpful! I’ve always wondered how to finish this eyeshadow line. And starting the eyeliner at the bottom eyelid and drawing that line upward by following the lower eye line with a straight line makes so much sense - by doing this, you are simply accentuating *your* own eye shape and not inventing some other look or some other eye. Anatomically, your approach makes sense. Thank you for the close up videography!
Hi Angela, Today is my lucky day to have ran into your fabulous video! My 1st time to see you…I think you are the best I’ve seen to demonstrate in precise step by step instructions on how to do winged eyeliner. For example, you said: to ‘relax’ the eye while applying the outer wing, etc. You made it clear that each step is significantly important. Thank you for this video ! I do appreciate it so much and my husband thanks you too (he doesn’t have to wait for so long for me to get ready…)😂 Continued success to you! Sally
Thank you so much for this fantastic video!! I am over 50 yrs old, my eyes are hooded and now lids are crinkly too. I have struggled for a long time trying to do a winged liner and gave up. With your wonderful techniques I can now enjoy a winged liner and I am so HAPPY!!
Loved this! The closer in you got, I felt myself moving closer too…😂 Seriously though I loved the way you zoomed us in to get the real deal feel for creating this wing. Thank you for this. I hope I can make this wing technique work on my crepey skin lids. 🙏
I’ve been doing this forever but with just dark eyeshadow because I’m too afraid to mess up with eyeliner. I think I have the worst eye shape ever because it’s so hard to do any type of wing (I have very deep set eyes). I’ll have to take the plunge and try this with actual eyeliner now. I found you when I had no idea how to even do eyeshadow and now I get compliments on my eyes all the time :) Easy and beautiful tutorials ❤
This is the first video of yours I've seen but dang I'm glad I came across it! I'm sending this to all my friends who ask me how I do my eyeliner because you explain it SO well--I love how you don't skip around or cut any clips when it comes to blending. I also love how you did both eyes. Super comprehensive and helpful for those of us with pesky hooded lids! :) Great job, can't wait to see more from you.
This is my go-to look everyday, with the black and everything! It's really cool to see that a makeup artist does what I've been doing, I'm usually very unskilled with makeup, haha. I'm getting older, my eyes are starting to age, and I have hooded eyes. So it's hard to get a good winged liner. But if I smoke out from the bottom lash line a line that doesn't angle up too sharply, it really works out! It's very easy.
Angela I have been doing this technique for about 5 yrs now. I decided to copy my Pomeranian puppy's eyes. I swear her wing comes from the bottom line of her eyes and then up and out. I was really happy with the results and have continued to copy Miss Mon Cheri Lola's gorgeous eyes. She is such a Diva.
Now you most definitely sound like a total professional instructor based on on detailed you were!! Thats not how you usually explain makeup looks and techniques, but this was so good!!😊☺️🙂loved it actually will try this too thanks❤
I like that you tell us the names of the makeup you used. Most videos don't & we can waste a lot of money trying to find a liner that's creamy & smudgable. I like your easy directions too. Great video!!
this made things so much better .I so appreciate the up close tutorial and also how much to place and exactly how to do it especially love you showing it done on both eyes . winged eyeliner is so damn hard to do correctly and this actually helps so much thank you
Thank you for your video. Love the technique and explanation. This look makes your eyes pop especially since your eyes are so light and your dark hair. You look beautiful.
Without exaggeration, this technique is the most helpful thing I’ve found on all of YT! Over the years, I have watched EVERY “wing for hooded eyes” video created, but this is the only one that has taught me how to successfully create a beautiful wing for my heavily hooded eyes. I actually produced wings that are evenly balanced for the first time, (except when I did it once by accident, then couldn’t replicate the look.) Thank you so much!!❤❤❤
AWESOME! BRILLIANT! Thank you so much for that detailed look. I always thought that the wing should come from the lower line and you showed how beautifully it works! Next... snow the lower key look; soft.
So glad you zoomed in close for this. I have slightly hooded eyes and my eyes are slightly different shapes too so I avoid winged liner as I never get them the same. Definitely going to try this though! Thanks!
This is so awesome! I've been wearing winged liner for over 30 years, but as I've gotten older, my eyes have become more hooded, making it really hard to get a good wing. I always use liquid liner, but I do own quite a few pencil liners too and I will be trying this look tomorrow!
This is the first video I’ve seen of yours and I hit that Subscribe button so fast. What a wonderful, in depth tutorial! I you actually taught rather than just list out products
I am definitely going to try this. I kinda did a winged look on my hooded eyes Saturday and it looked decent I’d I say so myself. All thanks to your tutorials Ms Blending Queen
Omg! I've worn mine like this for 43yrs!!!! Took a little while for the world to catch up to me! ROFLMAO.... looks awesome lovely ❤ you are always so beautiful ❤
I always enjoy watching your tutorials; I also have hooded eyes, and it is nice to watch your step-by-step looks and learn new techniques. Thank you!!!!!
Beautiful look and i like the way the eyeshadow blended your contour of the nose. I’m so glad you used a black pencil liner(whatever it’s called) liquid eye liners and I hate each other. I love the dramatic look for all day so this one is perfect anytime ❤
What a nice tutorial! I'm getting used to makeup and trying to learn more, and this tutorial was SO thorough but without it feeling like I was being talked down to! You're a wonderful teacher!
i know this is not about this video but i had to tell you how much i love your hair short. I never say that to anyone but when i first saw you with the new haircut i was blown away. You always look beautiful the haircut just enhanced your look even more. I have recreated your eyeshadow looks many times. Love you ❤
Thank you for your detailed up close, CLEAR videos. They are always so perfect & extremely helpful & informative. I can't wait to try this. I'm older & have extremely hooded eyes with limited wrinkled eye space as well.
Spencer is sooo good I can't wait to see how you do it. I have always wanted to be able to do winged eyeliner because I've got super hooded eyes. I'm old 😂
Brilliant! I have a scar on the outer corner of my right eye. I have NEVER been able to do any kind of wing, because it looks wonky and actually pulls my eye down. This works great as it covers the droop and scar. Thanks!
I am fantastically terrible at eyeliner and appreciate your easy-follow tutorial. Stunning eye look! Also, I think this eyeliner look pairs better with your natural lashes. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you for this tutorial. You make it look so easy. I like how you added the smudging of the eyeshadow and powder at the bottom to soften the look. Mine never looks quite right with my look. It is too glam.
I love this idea. Thank you so much for going into great detail on how too do this. I have really hooded eyes and stopped wearing eyeliner as you can't see it. This gives me a reason to wear eyeliner again. By changing the color of the eyeliner you can really soften the look but still have gorgeous eye shape. Thank you again for this.
I just tried this technique using the NYX Epic Smoke Liner in Nude Haze for a softer look and it turned out so good! I have hooded eyes, with my left eye being more hooded than my right and I have never nailed a winged liner look. Thank you for this extremely in-depth tutorial! I'm loving how it looks and am excited to play around with different colors in the future!

Thank you for this. I continue to try new eyeliner techniques. It is my must have part of my look. I have mature hooded eyes…that are getting more hooded as I age
Wayne goss did something very similar as well as Spencer , like you said. This has been a game changer for me. Thank you for breaking it down to the simplest of formats for those like me who are totally visual. I’m saving this and doing yours step by step. Excited!!
