So it's day 2 of our trip to Moab, and the list of things to do was pretty long. We eventually settled on Fisher Towers Trail to start the day. Now, I didn't do much research, I have to admit. I'd seen pictures of Fisher Towers and I wanted to check it out. But I thought it was just a roadside pull off. No. Not at all. Fisher Towers Trail is a 2 mile each way out and back trail with 1,400~1,600 feet of elevation gain (and loss). And it's popular and crowded. And absolutely beautiful from start to finish. Fisher Towers Trail gives great views of Fisher Towers, the Colorado River, the Manti La Sal Mountains and the surrounding Moab landscape. If you're lucky, you'll even catch some rock climbers working their way up the seemingly impossible towers. No permits required and it is a family and dog friendly trail...to a point. That point is the ladder along Fisher Towers Trail. We saw two groups turn around because their dogs weren't up to the challenge. So keep that in mind.
After Fisher Towers, we decided to head back to Potash Road and check out Long Canyon. Long Canyon is an off roading adventure that is still relatively beginner friendly under the right conditions. These were not the right conditions. It had snowed the day (and night) before, so Pucker Pass was a little more difficult than we were expecting. It showed us exactly how inexperienced we were as off roaders. But a couple locals showed us the lines, and we were able to conquer Pucker Pass and make it to the top.
The top gives great views and incredible campsites. We checked some out and then headed to our last destination of the day: Dead Horse Point State Park. The views from Dead Horse Point State Park were incredible. It was like a mini Grand Canyon.
And then it was time to head back to the hotel.
Moab. I already miss it. If you haven't been, make some plans and go. It is an absolutely incredible place.
