The Bloody Baron's backstory is among the most heavy in the entire game.
The only real way to finish it.I gave into it the first time and helped him find his wife but that more of a ''this world is too beautiful to be an asshole in'' kind of situation.On my 2nd and 3rd playthrough though i did what was needed.

I personally liked the Bloody Baron a lot. It's like he knew he fucked up but if you noticed, Anna cheated on him whike he was fighting in war. I think most men would have been pissed off after something like that happening to them. The fault is on both of them. His daughter had the worst of it though because she was innocent. I like the ending where he takes Anna to the mountains. It gives you a little hope after what they all been through.
When you talk to the Sergeant after finishing the Baron questline, he just says "Nothing here for you!" and it breaks my heart. I took my time and completed the Velen main quests over the course of two months. Crow's Pearch felt like my home. Now the Baron is gone, I have no business there and there truly is nothing there for me.
You know it's a great RPG when it can pull on heart strings so easily. All feels like another day in the life of a witcher.
I think the choices one makes in the whispering hillock side quest impacts the barons and his wifes fate...but what if we choose to ignore the whispering hillock side quest???

@@deepakdavid1876 i dont know if it is marked as a side quest. bit the three witches want you to do the quest pr else they will not tell you about ciri. so it is a part of a main quest which will never continue if you dont do it.

Velen got that sad after war feeling and was pretty creepy the first time i played the game it is the best part for sure
+just a random guy Yeah, I love Velen! It's amazing how they were able to capture a depressing war-torn atmosphere AND the beauty. There are times when I ride Roach slowly and take in the view; and damn it's just beautiful! Then there are the times when you walk into a starving village or across a battlefield slowly being reclaimed by nature.
It astounds me how well done Velen is.
Yep, Velen was absolutely awesome. On one part you had the relatively untouched cities of Novigrad and Oxenfurt, and on the other you had the war-torn lands, small villages and the castle at Crow's Perch. Velen is absolutely bittersweet nostalgia for me, I spent a lot of time there, just admiring the music and visuals, I would climb up small rolling mountains and watch the sunset or rise, and I also remember making a slow and peaceful journey on Roach to Oxenfurt...just pure nostalgia.
For me novigrad is the best❤️💗

It is amazing how much an ambient piece of music can tell... There is a militaristic tune along with hidden sadness and the Velen rural theme. It is truly magnificent.

You can really feel the evil pagan magic shit that family got itself entangled in. The evil of the Crones and the Tree Spirit, the Eternal Fire, the Alcoholism, the Baby... :(

0:50 Kaer Morhen theme.
If you actually pay attention to the soundtrack in game you'll hear lots of soundtrack have this Kaer Morhen ''Witcher 1'' theme in it, but each time handled differently. Pretty cool
I have been looking a comment like this and finally I have found it) Absolutely agree with you. I remember the soundtracks from The Witcher 1 - they are really amazing. But the main theme is absolutely terrific thing that I have ever heard. I am really happy to hear, to listen this in The Witcher 3.
Leitmotif, a composition techinique that seperates a good soundtrack from a great one.
Yeah, the Kaer Morhen leitmotif is all throughout the game...in White Orchard combat, in Hearts Of Stone theme, in several combat tracks in Toussaint and some other places. In Kaer Morhen as well, of course.

How do I see it?
Beginning is really bright, nice but at 1:42 something bad, something that makes u feel anxious happens (kinda stagnation moment)
But then again after few seconds things change
Anyway, the moment you mentioned above feels like relief, ending is peaceful, really calm and (for me ofc) heartwarming - even tho the stagnation is similar to the one before, it's not that dark anymore
From there through 4:17 it feels like you're getting ready to do something big.

At first when I heared this music i thought it was actually boring. But when i finished the family matters quest with the ending that the baron hanged himself. This music has so much sadness and I love it now.
+Rinke Angevaare I got the same ending. That little animation where Geralt explains the choice of evil is really brilliant way of storytelling. CDPR are amazing folk.
I feel like I'm the only one who didn't let the baron die. RIP children.
That enthusiastic feeling after you deal with Tamara and her mother hoping to reconnect the family and then going back to Crow's Perch just to see that Baron has hanged himself... Movies doesn't not even come close, It was like a real life mixture of emotions. Baron's and Olgierd's story on it's own could be a part of Witcher movie series.
inquestfor Never experienced that. I got the bittersweet outcome for the baron.
I guess everyone experienced this quest a bit differently. At first I didn't even like Baron's character, wanted him out of the picture as soon as possible, but then after a couple of conversations and learning the background story, I wanted to help him even though he's responsible for most of the bad things that fell upon his family. His wish for redemption just felt so real and honest.

I can forgive the game for making me go all the way back to the bridge to access the sign post, just cause the music is 👍👍👍
KHII If you jump the stakes near the armoury, you can slide do to the river and walk to the signpost of the Burned ruins. It’s much faster than using Roach

Crows Perch and Oxenfurt themes are both absent sadly, they are by far my favorite pieces of ambient music from this game.
This starts playing as you enter cow's perch on horseback will be one of the best nostalgia in gaming history.

Every time i hear this music it brings a lot of different emotions. The sad story of Baron's family. I hope baron becomes a changed man and with his family reunited somewhere in future becomes the true king of velen and brings such prosperity and happiness as velen had never witnessed before and all the small kids would hear the tales of adventures of geralt and baron
The Witcher 3 is simply amazing. A masterpiece, a open world where you actually want to find everything.

When you go back to the baren after finding his wife and daughter and getting both sides of their stories and then listening to his...When he explains his side of the story to you and you get all the shame and regret he carries with him while this song plays in the background. It was one of the most powerful things I've ever seen in a videogame

This theme betrayed to me early on the events that would unfold for the rest of the game. It's truly incredibly the narrative role this music plays.
Absolutely amazing how this soundtrack could translate the entire atmosphere of the Baron and his family's arc. It really comunicates the tense ambience, and all the depressive stuff that happened in that place.
Besides, of course, the individual beauty of the music itself.
This game is a masterpiece.
I'll never forget riding around Crow's Perch to this wonderfully melancholic music, and reading the notice board, where one of the local peasants had described how his poor child had recently died and invited his neighbours to come along to his funeral. Powerful and absorbing stuff.
I've played several playthroughs and I've only ever spam clicked all the notices. I feel a bit ashamed, I'll definitely pay more attention on my next playthrough...maybe it should be very soon.

there really is nothing quite like it... I love this game
Whoever composed the soundtracks in this game is way better than many film composers
Velen is depressing as fuck...but this music is hauntingly beautiful, it's like telling you a story, the story of Family Matters. The Witcher 3's story is great overall, but the stories set in Velen are the "realest", hitting Geralt and us players too close to home.

Bloody Baron is one of the most incredible story quests ever in a RPG. The writers freaking nailed it and I feel so bad for the Baron.
