I have to say, I've been pleasantly surprised by how well this video has been received so far, and I'm glad that people seem to be liking it. I was half expecting a bunch of die-hard PRS fans to get very angry at me for daring to make the comparison.
I say do what you dig!!!! I just started watching this video, but don't let haters get you down.....
Just like my old man used to say "opinions are like assholes, everyone has got one"
Die-hard PRS fan here. Love the video!
I'm jealous now xD I built one myself as well, and the result is great, but yours looks better. It's really hard to get good looking woods like that in Belgium
We love your guitar videos honestly they are one of the best on the market right now man 🔥🔥
My only preference over what you did was I would've filled the grain on the top to get a mirror polish, but the semi gloss looks great too!! How much would you build me one for? Lol
Anyone watching this build who has bever built a guitar should know that this guy _goes for it._
It's a testament to his confidence and skill that he approaches the processes as he does. Those small captions where he notes that he's doing something "the hard way" are indeed true. The whole build was very gutsy. Lots of potential for error/scrap.
Pretty amazing.
Everything looked great! Only remark i will make is the final lacquer layer. I could see a lot of orange peel. It might be the spray-can. Anyway, you could buff it out for a much smoother final look.
Wonderful craftsmanship and your patience and persistence is amazing. Excellent result.
Your works are great! I always watch, thank you for this opportunity. Your player also gives you the opportunity to listen to him, and great respect too!) Create more and make us happy!
Great job. It must be so satisfying to sit down and play the guitar you built. Beautiful woods in the hands of a fine craftsman. Bravo sir.
Wow !! Fantastic job !! Congratulations and thanks for sharing !!
Another absolute triumph, mr Ciminskie! Just the inlay work and binding on the fingerboard counts as a masterpiece, in my book. Damn fine choice of pickups, too. Love me some p90s. Thanks for taking the time to put this video together and letting us enjoy it.
Love your work. Has been super inspiring and educational for my own projects!
Outstanding work!!
Great work Sir, thank you for sharing this with us.
deym nice!!!!!! i can only dream of owning one. new sub here from PH🙏
Incredible video. 💯
hey, your inlay and fretwork are really good, you made everything look super neat, and the work with that truss rod cover was sweet. I was wondering why you didn't cut and buff the finish on the body though, cause that burl looks really good as is, but it might look better under a smoother finish. your fretwork is also amazing, and I'm actually really impressed by the way you filled the fret ends. all in all, amazing build
So glad you're back in Action I absolutely love this channel this build was incredible thank you
Excellent build/craft and verry atractive wood choice i really believe this guitar have much different sounds to offer , played trough a high end tubeamp. Congrats with the outcome! Greetz from Holland.
Thank You for this Awesome Guitar Build Here.....
What a beautiful guitar!!!!
Just found your channel. I am very impressed with your attention to detail. Where did you find the plans for this project? Great job! 👍👏😁
I bought a set of PRS body and neck templates a few years ago, but I don't remember exactly where. Could have been from ebay or Reverb.
Nice build. Looks great!
Freekin awesome one of a kind. Brilliant work
Lovely work mate
Incredible build, couldn't believe the workmanship and patience, absolute well done you! 👍🏼
i really enjoyed this video you did an excellent job on this beautiful guitar you are very talened
Great handiwork and a beautiful guitar. Absolutely fabulous job overall.
Awesome, your guitar is better than an original PRS. Happy riffs...
beautiful guitar!
im amazed and I must say thats a heck of allot of time and work So nice though love it
I can't afford american fenders, which was my reason for getting into guitar building! I have access to really nice CNC at my local Woodworkers Guild and have been working files for PRS and Gibson style carved tops. Have a plan to make a custom 24 sometime in the next year!
Gorgeous work and stellar sound. PRS has nothing on you!👍🤘🎸
Really nice work! I have to say I would be nervous af routing for the abalone inlay after so much work has gone into the rest... one slip and throw it all out
Nice work.
Your attention to the neck was astounding! Just one question though, what did you finish the body with?
It became a piece of art 👏👏
PRS specials, are very special. Your guitars are always very special.
PRS marketing is very special, let's people think their guitars are better than they actually are
Gorgeous.
I’ve built several guitars and it kills me to have to drill into it to install the strap buttons. I got the same feeling watching this video.
Nice video, too.
you are a mad lad with that trim router
Incredible job! Only critique would be the lacquer finish. It looks "sticky" or something. Not as smooth as a real PRS or high end guitar. I am not a woodworker or craftsman at all, so I'm far from an expert. Just my $.02. Otherwise it's an incredible job and it obviously plays well!
I really beautiful instrument. I hope you are proud if it. You should be.
Tell me about it. Price on a guitar is getting outrageous. I like how you think been wanting to build my own guitars.
That’s what I do, make my own private stock guitars.
Excellent video and great build!
What mitre saw and blade do you use to cut the fret slots, please?
Thank you
It's just an inexpensive tabletop miter saw, and this blade www.stewmac.com/luthier-tools-and-supplies/tools-by-job/tools-for-fretting/fret-slotting-table-saw-blade
You’re honestly a quality craftsman.
You’ve meticulously built this guitar.
I applaud your efforts and work.
…………
I’m a luthier,
I understand that you didn’t have a spray gun to put on the finish.
What seriously bothers ,me is all the time sweat and tears,
you’ve put into this beautiful guitar, why didn’t you at least
buff out the sprayed on finish? You could’ve removed the orange
peel from it. It would’ve looked so much better.
You could’ve even used Danish oil and give the guitar the
finish it deserved.
Please don’t think that I’m insulting you.
I just cry looking at the finish and all you’ve put into this guitar.
Neat fret marker bars. Nice and clean. Is the main body of the neck red cedar or redwood? I just don't understand why most people when putting a top on a guitar body don't rout in the wiring channels before gluing on the top. If the channel was routed in before the top goes on the risk of drilling out the top or back later is avoided completely. The guitar did turn out very nice.
The body is Sapele, and the neck is Narra/Amboyna
@@OrbitalGuitars Sapele doesn't need grain filler?
@@FranciscoGonzalez-uw3cv Only if you want it to have a glassy smooth finish. Personally, I like when the finish keeps some of the characteristics of the wood grain.
Great work as always, the guitar looks fab. Two questions though, Where did you get the rounded spade drill bits to do the control knob cavities and secondly, have you considered routing the wiring runs before attaching the top, rather than using the long drill bit method-which always makes me nervous!!?
The rounded spade bit is just a cheap regular spade bit that I rounded the corners off of with a file. And I have pre-routed wiring channels before, but I don't remember now why I didn't do that on this build.
@@OrbitalGuitars excellent, Crimson taught you well. Is a 25.4mm diameter bowl cutting router bit just too small for the knobs recess?
@@antonrandle4146 I think that would be a little too small. Besides, I like how much more control I have with a drill press than I would with a router.
nice build! did you find the golden camphor burl to be on the soft side? looks like you didn't have to do anything to harden or stablize it? thanks
No, the Camphor is hard enough that it doesn't need to be stabilized. It's about as hard as Soft Maple.
🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
Man you should really get a new blade for your bandsaw!
what kind of wood is that neck?
Yes, I'll build one too. But first I have to go spend 10 thousand dollars on wood working equipment.
Why would you ever purchase a guitar!!!. That's awesome 😊
was very disappointed to see that you didn't machine the screws from a block of aluminum. Is this even a custom build??
just kidding -- this was amazing to watch. Did you work for a builder at some point? How did you learn to do this?
@@979259 A combination of watching other build videos, and years of trial and error
You need a plop router
Here's a frustrating thing I have recently come to see.
I've been building guitars for a few years, and until recently, the physical dimensions of parts and hardware didn't really occupy my mind all that much. But now...
Truss rods in particular seem stupidly designed. Too many minute differences in size along the entire assembly, such that you can't simply use for example a 1/4" cutter from end to end to make the channel? Why is the barrel .025" wider than three rest of the assembly? Who knows?
Why are tuner posts 25/64" when they could just be 3/8"?
Why don't tuning machines with extruded bosses instead of screw lobes not come with a drill template for those damnable things?
Why are those flush mount neck bolt washers 19/32" when they could just .5"?
There are probably more eccentricities to do with parts, and who knows, maybe I just haven't seen everything that's out there.
I'm not conspiratorially minded, but am I crazy for thinking this feels a but like gate keeping? By whom I know not, btw.
Tell me I'm crazy if you think so lol
You need to work on your finishing skills but otherwise an amazing build. You can see the orange peel in the light being reflected while you're playing. Such a nice guitar deserves a quality finish.
Great work but dude get a new bandsaw blade. It is supposed to cut thru the wood, not melt it.😮😅
THATS BETTER THAN A PRS GUITAR I BET
as a non guitar builder but watcher of guitar build videos on youtube, i must say i was impressed by your woodworking skills and beautiful choice of woods and hardware. however, *in my opinion* the transition from back of body to neck could be more delicate/gradual and the overall rattle-can finish leaves a lot to be desired. as the video progressed, i kept thinking "when are they going to sand out that orange-peel?" and then "wait, are they installing hardware now?" its a shame you put in so much hard work and attention to detail to then leave that funky textured clear-coat as the final finishing ): im sorry for being such a bummer, i loved watching your video and look forward to future builds. i just wish you put as much effort into the finishing process as you did the rest of the build. thats my 2 cents anyways.
Why couldn't the builder play the guitar?
Find any of my older videos were I am the one that plays on camera and you'll have your answer.
@@OrbitalGuitars Ok sure, but it doesn't make sense to name the video something that hints to you not being able to afford a very expensive guitar, and some other guy ends up playing it rather badly at the end. To each channel their own I suppose....🤣
Very nice .
Noice 👍
👍👍👍👍👍
Wow... So awesome! Wonderful to see all the skills and methods! I can't believe how easy it is! NOW I can make one myself.... NOT!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Гитара красивая конечно! А зачем такую толстую деку делать,она по толщине больше лес пола!?😉
