    Omg, I think the patreon/book club idea is amazing! I wouldn’t worry at all about choosing books that people might not like because, as opposed to most book channels out there that focus more on “mainstream” books (which is absolutely fine and like you said sometimes you just need a New York Times bestseller to make you feel those emotions hahaha), I think your channel stands out precisely because you’re always recommending books that are “less known” and often shed light on human experiences that we should all read more about. So even if a particular book choice is disliked, I wouldn’t say it could ever be a waste of time for most of us who watch your videos, because I feel like I’ve also stumbled on some of my most memorable reads by watching your videos - like ‘S’, which is a novel that I don’t think could ever leave anyone unfazed or Sarah Kane’s plays, just to name a few. Also, you’ve created such a beautiful community here and the way you spend time answering to comments and interacting with the people who watch your videos, makes me feel like I’ve got a penpal at the other side of the world to get great book recommendations/reviews from😂 and I’m sure I’m not the only one😘

      Well, now you've made me tear up again!! Thank you so, so much. That whole comment really sums up why I love making these videos and interacting with people all over the world. I feel the same way about penpals, etc. Okay, now I will work on the book club : ))))

    There are two film adaptations of this book [A Man Called Ove (Hannes Holm, 2015) and A Man Called Otto (Marc Forster, 2022)]. If you are so inclined, it'd be cool to see a video where you discuss which adaptation you liked more personally and which one you thought was a better adaptation...in the vein of your The Piano Teacher discussions.

    It’s so true-when you get old, no one looks at you. Aside from other old people, and that’s pretty rare in itself. Savor what you’ve got when you’ve got it, hipster queen. The way your book club would work is if you only select books that youve already read and know are winners!

    That is a wonderful idea. I want to be in a book club that chooses a book then discusses their thoughts about the book good or bad and why. I joined an online book club and was dissatisfied with the experience. The originator of the club would ask one question about the book then everyone responded to that question. For me, that really did not do the book justice. I think if you did start a book club you would want to dig in and thoroughly discuss the book. Hope you move forward with your idea.

    • @AnaWallaceJohnson
      @AnaWallaceJohnson  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so much for the pointers. I'm loosely working on a blueprint of how I would like the book club to go. Would your previous bookclub have a live chat after the novel was finished?

      @sylviashanabrough6515 ปีที่แล้ว

If you find yourself desiring other books that are touching, heartfelt and perhaps even tear-inducing, might I suggest: I Heard the Owl Call My Name (Margaret Craven), Zorrie (Laird Hunt), Bewilderment (Richard Powers) and my all-time favourite for its characters, One Hundred Years of Lenni and Margot (Marianne Cronin).
