  • Piker Ryan's Folly was a band started by Mark Steiner and Belgian-born guitarist Phil "The Tremelo King" Vanderyken back when both lived and struggled in the East Village of Manhattan back in 1997. The lyrics of the song "Lowlife" were largely inspired by the writings by Luc Santé in his book of the same title, as well as "Gangs of New York" by Herbert Asbury, both which focused on gangland culture of New York City's Lower East Side in the latter 1800s.
This live version was recorded in 1998, live at the legendary CBGB.
    Mark Steiner - vocals
Phil "The Tremolo King" Vanderyken - guitar
    "Pick-pocket Pete" Mele - bass
Chris "The Butcher" Mele - drums
    released August 4, 1999
recorded live at CBGB by Erik M. Wood
mastered by Jason Kanter at Big Blue Meenie Studios, NJ, 1998
