Scott, I was starting to run a sale. I recall, SOMEWHERE, there was a box that had a %(percent) that is charged if you sell something. Usually eBay has it 15-16%. I recall changing that amount but can't recall where it is so I can change it. I don't wish to pay 16% or whatever. I just watched your video and you didn't mention it. I am a new store owner with and am just learning how to use it. Can I hand select just a few items to put on sale and select a different discount (or sale price) for each item. Thank you for all your help.
You can do that. You could run a sale for a single item or a small group. You can run more than one sale at a time, too. It would be easier if you could come to a percentage off for a small group, so you didn't have a bunch of auctions running at once. But I've had 4 and 5 sales running at one time before. :-)
Thank you for this video. After watching we decided to run our first sale. Now we have an offer on an item-How does that work when running a sale? Does it then become the offer accepted price plus the discounted percentage? Or just the accepted offer amount?

Thank you for the help but I have spent hundreds of dollars and a month later, it's just going nowhere I think I've had 8 sales I don't know what I'm doing wrong but I have a feeling you have to live by a big city. Living by a big city must make it low shipping I just don't know what I'm doing wrong😭.I take all your advice. I even changed a lot over to returns and that isn't helping. Maybe I am too high? Going broke trying In the middle of no where
Try not to give up hope. I am up here in Canada and it is slow going as well. I sold about 30 items last year and only a hand full the year before. People need to see feedback to be able to trust you as a seller. I now have about 15 positive feedback and things are slowly growing. Also this time of year can be quite slow so it is hard to be inspired. Take a break from buying items for now(there will always be more stuff to buy) and just focus on listing. I am always amazed at what I already have around. Go through all your listing and tweak them, whether it's an increase in price or stream lining the layout of them, etc. You can do this. I believe in you! 🙂
Is the Rollo easy to connect.im so tired of these other laser printers.i am willing to go the extra money because I'm tired of running to the post office with the qr code.
It was called EASY PRICING. I never used it since we list items that could sit for a long time. But, I also haven't seen it in a long time. It took me a while to respond to you because I went looking for it. But I don't see it anywhere. I also don't see a notification from eBay that it was discontinued.
Has she already purchased the item? If so, she purchased it with the shipping that you placed in the listing. If she hasn't purchased it yet, you could change the listing to include something like UPS Ground or USPS Parcel Select, if those are cheaper. But, for the most part, if my shipping price was reasonable, I don't want to do business with someone who is already angry. If she hasn't already purchased the item, check the feedback she leaves other sellers. Click on her feedback number. At the bottom, click SHOW ALL FEEDBACL. Then, click on the tab that says Left For Others. If she leaves lots of neutrals and negatives, don't sell to her. If she's already bought it, let her know the shipping that the listing included and let her know that it is OK to cancel if that doesn't work for her.
You can run a sale on a semi-permanent basis by setting it to last a really long time. But I don't know of a way to have it automatically restart once it ends. What you could do is copy the sale as soon as it is up and running and have the start date one day after the sale ends. You could effectively hardwire the sales to run back to back that way.
th-cam.com/video/a0H1Q-hN5F8/w-d-xo.html I show how to set it up in this video. You do have to opt in to use it. Some people have to sell their first item to activate it.
Hi thanks ima subscriber. Question please... Im trying to MAXIMIZE my income. I want to do Sales Price Drops here and there. I feel that weekends might have the most traffic because on friday some people just got paid and some are relaxing at home either on friday, saturday or sunday with new money in the bank. Then i also feel that week Days have Less traffic because people are busy working plus dont have that friday pay check. I also feel that the weekends are a good chance to sell things while people just got paid and before they spend up their friday paychecks and might be broke on week days. So with these 2 things in mind, if i want to have frequent price drops so that the watchers and anybody sees that Sale as a chance to buy and save money, should i do a Sale price drop on Friday through Sunday, then raise prices back to normal on monday or should i have the sales on Monday thru Wednesday since weekdays might be slower and those days could use the help while weekends DONT NEED any Help ? Lastly i wonder if maybe its better to have weekday sales because people are more broke those days vs having more money on weekends. So maybe its better to allow them to Pay FULL PRICE on weekends while they got extra money and offer sales on weekdays while some people are broke ? Or should i like do a combination Sale to Maximize income for the best of both worlds to offer a Sale Price Drop to the High Traffic Freshly Paid WeekEND people AND ALSO to the broke WeekDAY people. Example : Saturday thru Sunday Sale And Tuesday Only Sale ? Having REGULAR PRICES for Mon/Wed/Thurs/Fri ? Please help with advice. Thank you. Anybody knowledgeable please reply soon
I used to feel exactly the same way. Then, I looked at my days over the course of a year. There was no discernable difference depending on the day of the week. LOTS of people shop while they are at work. Still, having a sale or a price drop can help boost sales. I usually run aone week sale. No longer because I want to create a sense of urgency for the buyers. I usually have them end Sunday night. Having a sale like that definitely boats my overall sales.
@@TheChaChingKing oh ok brother nice. So start the Sale on Monday at 1am and end it on Sunday at 11pm ? Once per month or how often ? Also do you announce that its a one week sale that ends on Sunday so they know or is there like a timer clock countdown or something ? Thank you very much.
Yes. Your sale won't impact your ability to send out offers. The only thing to keep in mind is that you'd never want to send out a custom offer that has a smaller discount than the sale price. At least, that's my opinion.
HI Scot! Im a big fan! So I love this video but my question is how does Ebay calculate and charge you for doing a sale? Does it compound per day running? Do you pay whether you get a sale or not? Thank you so much!
Those are great questions. Ebay charges insertion fees every month, but only after the first 250 listings. You get 250 every month for free WITHOUT a store. So, unless you add in bold titles or something, you won't incur any fees until it sells. When it sells, the fees can vary a little depending on the item. If you figure 13-15% for the total sale price of the item (including shipping), you'll land pretty close to the eBay fees. But, like I said, you don't owe those until you sell the item.
I actually have a video about making that decision. There's so many different size stores that there isn't a cookie cutter answer. But, once you pass up 250 listings, it doesn't make a lot of sense to not have one.
Idk what I did wrong. I followed the instructions and set limit for the dollar amount and clicked off the stuff to not to have sales applied to the new listings and it still did. I got so annoyed when my $10 free shipping item sold on promoted when it should have not. Must have been the glitch with Ebay. I called Ebay and regardless to say, rep was not helpful. I had to go thru my individual listings and sort thru every single items to exclude. It happened twice. Can anyone assist?
If the person originally clicked on your listing before you turned off the promotion, the promoted listing fee would still be in effect. I only promote at 2%, so it doesn't take a big bite.
I think some of that will depend on the settings the buyers have in place. You can turn off notifications. But, if the buyer has notifications on, they could get a notice when a sale begins.
I promote at 2% unless my item is really, really rare. Is it worth it? I can't answer definitively. I'm honestly on the fence. I wish I could tell you positively one way or the other, but I can't.
Yes, if they got to the item page through a promotion, that will be on top of whatever the offer is. So, if you promoted an item at 2% and the buyer used that ad to look at your listing, you'd still pay the 2%.
@@TheChaChingKing I apologize, I should have said sale. So if I'm running a 30% off sale and a buyer sends me an offer on an item will they get the 30% off on the best offer? Sorry for the confusion.
I have two stores. The ChaChingKing store really is just used to teach. I don't think I've ever given the link out to it because I don't want a subscriber/viewer to feel like they have to buy anything from me. But, I use that store with my merch and have it printed on demand from Printify. That has actually worked great. My store that helps pay the bills is OldSchoolWear.
Hi, thank you for your useful content....I have a question, at "500 items per promotion how we can set a limit for discounts for example up to $100 can use this code??
The whole promotion tool is changing on eBay. So, I have to play around with it a bit. I will get a new video out soon and try to share what I've learned. You always been able to designate which items where included in a promotion. And you've always been able to make individual items earn discounts based on the number purchased. But I don't know if there's a "cart" set-up or not. I'll try and check it out.
Go back into Marketing in the Seller Hub. Go to the same place where you created the promotion. There should be a down arrow to the left of you listing. You can open that drop down menu and end the promotion.
I believe you can do this with any of the eBay store levels. So, as little as $5 a month. Here's a link to eBay's store overview. And, eBay for Business on Facebook is awesome. They could answer a specific question that I don't know for sure, too. 🙂 www.ebay.com/sellercenter/payments-and-fees/subscriptions-and-fees#recos-reqs
Hey Scot, watched your newest video. Thanks!!! Hope you & Mel are well. Q’s: How long did it take for you to turn on “best offer” w/ your listings? Is there a price point where you leave it off? How long have you been doing it? Would you ever go back? We run a 20% store wide (I guess continuously), it runs 7 days at a time. We tried 10-15% promo, had fewer sales, at 25% didn’t seem to help activity… I’m for best offer, the brains of the operation my wife Charity is adamantly opposed. Even tho I’ve taken over 98% of offers & customer svc… The marketing strategy for pricing, sales, coupons, etc REALLY IS both a science and an art. -paul k
It took me a LONG time to turn on best offer. My wife was for it, but I wasn't. There are two reasons I love it. 1. Increased sales...we could really tell. 2. It gives me an opportunity to look at the feedback a buyer leaves other sellers BEFORE I do business with them. I avoid some real problem buyers. While I LOATHE low-ball offers, I love weeding out some of those buyers. I don't have best offer on for cheap items. Never for items under $15. We've been using best offer for several years now. For us, the benefits outweigh the aggravation over ridiculous offers
@@TheChaChingKing Hey thanks for the rapid (& comprehensive) response! I read our conversation out loud and we agreed to try it out (on most categories), and I think we’ll start late Sunday when the week’s 20% sale ends & gets restarted. That way (hopefully) the effect will kick in AFTER our usual bump in sales Fri, Sat nite & Sunday afternoon/ evening, and we’ll be able to track the metrics better. Do you just shotgun it and not put minimums on your allowable offers? pk

It's just the offer price they sent. Great question
@@TheChaChingKing Thank you.
Thank you!!!
I am so discouraged. I watch your videos all the time. Going broke trying In the middle of no where
I live in Penelope, TX. Population 181. It's almost 30 minutes to a Wal-Mart. Send me a note on Instagram and let me take a look at your store.
The wireless one seemed very easy. But, to be fair, I've worked with computers my whole life and my son had a degree in computer technology
Quick question, what's the name of the feature to offer graduated/higher sales on listings that get older?
Thanks!
It was called EASY PRICING. I never used it since we list items that could sit for a long time. But, I also haven't seen it in a long time. It took me a while to respond to you because I went looking for it. But I don't see it anywhere. I also don't see a notification from eBay that it was discontinued.
@@TheChaChingKing I swear it was just here? Now I see some forum posts saying it's gone completely
@@BorisBidjanSaberi11 I thought the same. But I couldn't find it. For a moment, I felt like I had just imagined it.
How do I sell ground? Some lady doesn't like the shipping cost .she said ground is cheaper.i don't know what to do
Has she already purchased the item?
Is there a way to automate your sales so that it automatically starts up again after the previous one ends?
You can run a sale on a semi-permanent basis by setting it to last a really long time. But I don't know of a way to have it automatically restart once it ends. What you could do is copy the sale as soon as it is up and running and have the start date one day after the sale ends. You could effectively hardwire the sales to run back to back that way.
i cant find the sales hub when i go to selling shows differently

I show how to set it up in this video.
Example :
Saturday thru Sunday Sale And
Tuesday Only Sale ?
Having REGULAR PRICES
for Mon/Wed/Thurs/Fri ?
Important question, if I create a sale for 10% off, will I still be able to send custom discounted offers to customers?
@@TheChaChingKing Thanks for the fast reply! You rock!
Hi, what is the minimum number of items to have until someone should buy a store subscription?
I actually have a video about making that decision. There's so many different size stores that there isn't a cookie cutter answer. But, once you pass up 250 listings, it doesn't make a lot of sense to not have one.
If I have Bulk discount on on some items then run a sale, do they stack? Am I going to be giving stuff away at 50% combined discount?
It will most likely combine the discounts
Hi Scott - If I run a sale, will my promotive listing rates still applies to the sale. Thanks
Yes, they will.
Hi Scott. How do you deal with B/O when you have a sale? I've watched this twice, back to back, and didn't hear you talk about that.
B/O? I'm not sure what you mean.
Sorry. Best Offer. Most of my items have Best Offer turned on. I don't want to give 2 discounts.@@TheChaChingKing
So once it launches is an email sent to everyone who subscribed to your store and also to everyone following each and every item?
I think some of that will depend on the settings the buyers have in place. You can turn off notifications. But, if the buyer has notifications on, they could get a notice when a sale begins.
Hiii. How ro deactivate a running sale on ebay? thanks
You go back to the promotions and, on the left, click a drop down menu. You should see an opportunity to end the promotion there.
I'm running a 20% off sale and I'm getting watchers instead of sales.....
Do i just wait and see.....?
Yeah, it may not do much during Thanksgiving
How long does it take until buyers can see discounted sale? I tried searching up my store and did not see the coupon added.
I can take several hours
@@TheChaChingKing thanks so much
Is it worth promoting/boosting items? I'll be listing about 75 items this weekend and didnt know if it was worth the extra cost.
I promote at 2% unless my item is really, really rare. Is it worth it? I can't answer definitively. I'm honestly on the fence. I wish I could tell you positively one way or the other, but I can't.
does it matter what eBay store you have to run the sale?
I believe you can run a sale even with the basic store
Question 🙋🏻♀️ if someone sends me an offer while I’m running a promotion and I accept their offer do they get the promotion on top of their offer?
Yes, if they got to the item page through a promotion, that will be on top of whatever the offer is. So, if you promoted an item at 2% and the buyer used that ad to look at your listing, you'd still pay the 2%.
@@TheChaChingKing I apologize, I should have said sale. So if I'm running a 30% off sale and a buyer sends me an offer on an item will they get the 30% off on the best offer? Sorry for the confusion.
This is the same answer I'm looking for!! What happens when you accept an offer?? Do they get also de %%% ??
What is the name of your ebay store? Thanks
No option show in promotions in marketing i am new seller
I believe you do have to have a store subscription to run a sale.
Do I need a subscription to make a sale?
Yes, you have to have a store to run a sale.
How to cancel the promotion sale
Go back into Marketing in the Seller Hub. Go to the same place where you created the promotion. There should be a down arrow to the left of you listing. You can open that drop down menu and end the promotion.
How much do I have to pay for this feature?
I believe you can do this with any of the eBay store levels. So, as little as $5 a month. Here's a link to eBay's store overview. And, eBay for Business on Facebook is awesome. They could answer a specific question that I don't know for sure, too. 🙂 www.ebay.com/sellercenter/payments-and-fees/subscriptions-and-fees#recos-reqs
@@TheChaChingKing thanks, is it worth it ? I only have 5-10 products with 36 listings, should I do it??
@@TheChaChingKing Important question, if I create a sale for 10% off, will I still be able to send custom discounted offers to customers?
Do you recommend running a sale and also have your items on promotion? Thanks
I do that very thing. When I run them together, I keep the promotions small and the sale percentages low.
@@TheChaChingKing Thank you so much!
Thank you for sharing. A big help for me.
Thanks. Very helpful
Thank you, this was helpful.
Thanks so much, this is so very helpful!
Do you just shotgun it and not put minimums on your allowable offers? pk
Amazing!!!
