Why do people say that Andy sucks? This is a pop punk song, it's not Tool or Dream Theater. He gives them what they need, no more, no less.
I don’t think its the drumming, the drumming is quite over being a “basic beat” or “simple” its more a lack of technique
He has the mannerisms/technique of someone who hasn’t been playing for very long even though he doesn’t seem to be a bad drummer
I wish the crowd was interacting throughout the song like they did in the beginning! This band comes alive when the crowd does, and I love that relationship!

Why the hate? Dude's playing is solid as hell. He's just serious in regards to the stiffness. Imagine the pressure of performing in front of thousands while being associated with a famous band - that shit hits hard once all eyes are on you as the slightest mistake from the drummer is noticeable while an error from the guitars can go unnoticed for at least 10 seconds for the untrained ears.

I don’t even see any wrong technique. If you’re gonna play with that energy for 2-3 hours, this is great technique for full sound without hurting yourself

How can people say he is a bad drummer? Seriously. He got to design his own sticks. The fills in this video are hard to master and I can play some Fall Out Boy songs and they are really hard to play. He is a great drummer.

I think it's mainly because he's a super tight drummer. Not as in tight on the beat, but tight as in close to his kit, and holding his arms closer to his body.
Hes ok missing technically , that's why hes a bit stiff. No finger control, no squeeze vand release. But its all good
His drums parts are kinda fast so sometimes you lock up despite whatever technique you use, I get told that a lot by my guitarist

being a tight, consistent drummer and providing a tight, consistent rhythm base for the songs > crazy ass fills and super busy drumming.
Every. Time. The faster and crazier you play, the more mistakes you can get away with and hide in your fast crazy playing. Unless you're Danny Carey or Neal Peart, but those people are inhuman instrument gods and they're the exception a lot more than they are the rule.
Just look at AC/DC's rhythm section. Sure, they're playing "easy" and "simple" guitar chords and drums (Cliff's basslines and playing style actually requires quite a bit of stamina, though) -- but they're playing them perfectly. Consistently. And they lock in with each other TIGHT. I don't care who you are, that shit ain't easy AT ALL. You've gotta be on your game all the time, and you can't get away with flubbing a part like the lead guitar or vocalist can. If you're off, everyone is off and the song goes to shit.
99% of the people who criticize a professional for playing "simple" songs couldn't get up there on stage in front of thousands of people night after night and deliver that kind of consistency.
