- Weaver Boat Works introduces an all new 60 foot Sportfish at the Annapolis Boat Show in 2021 with an elevator ! Today I walk with Jay and he shows us around this beautiful custom 60 foot beauty. Fishermen like going long disntances to capture those prize fish and this Weaver does it in style. This particular boat comes with a custom Elevator that will take you to the flybridge.
The sportfish market is hot and production models for Viking and other manufactures are having record years. Lets check out what some of the differences are by having a custom boat.

I've been on a couple of Weavers, all were awesome. Beautiful Yacht, thanks for inviting us aboard.
This is a gorgeous boat. Everything aboard her is so sleek and clean with everything from stoves, fridges, radios ave other nav gear is hidden in compartments. Their wood and mill work are of the highest order. I do wish that for when aboard a boat of this type, you asked them about things like what sort of toilets do they use, do they have an oil changing system along with a fuel polisher. Also for a detail like handling waste, do they have a Type II MSD system and capacity of fresh water, grey and black water tanks. For a boat like this, it would be good to ask if it has a desalinator and a Seakeeper unit. One other question that would have been good to ask, is what about the generators, inverters, etc. These people sure seem to be highly skilled boat builders who take great pride in their work. That elevator system is something that might soon be found in many sportfishing boats in the future. It is interesting that they had no idea this innovation would be met with such interest by those in the market for this class of boat.

The lift pad flips up so no one is ever stranded up or down, some serious design went into this, amazing result.

This is super cool. I think I actually like Weaver better than Viking, but it's pretty close.

The actual reason the elevator was added is because you can't teach a case of beer to climb a ladder.
The elevator may be custom, but that gaping hole in the bridge is going to get someone killed!
Dayum! Only 2 minutes in and this is a NICE boat! Oh, and I'm not into Sportfishers that much 😂 I'm wondering what the APPROXIMATE price tag would be for this beauty. Never mind, he lost me at "cold molded". There is NO reason in this day and age to use something that can ROT for structural members. They MAY run into patent problems since the basic idea is the same as any "stairvator" or even an old-school dumbwaiter (only powered). Waaiit fooor iiiit!
Everything has its downsides, really. As long as the hull isn't compromised and water (and moisture) gets in, I don't foresee any issues with that. Even carbon fiber has a downside, in that it isn't the greatest choice for cold climates. Fiberglass alone isn't very strong. Likewise, aluminum is great but too heavy and you'd probably lose ten knots by switching to aluminum.
If done right, this is an excellent compromise on weight and durability. Likewise, if you can afford a 10 million dollar yacht, you should have at least one person on the crew able to make sure there's no hull breach or excessive flooding going on.
If I had that boat I would only come in for supplies and fuel.
You should have looked at the engine room on that thing, it would have been impressive.

An elevator is a waste of time. And money
Did you not hear what the company rep said? That lift was designed as a custom, one off feature for its older owner with mobility issues, something that happens to everyone at some point. You can be sure, the owner of this boat is probably an older man who has over time accumulated the wealth to own a boat of this sort. But then again, the owner could be a 25 year old that got injured in an accident that has limited his mobility. He probably would not have commisioned it had they not come up with that lift. For that man, the lift is one of the points of this boat. The list allows him a few more years of being able to enjoy a few more years of going out on a boat to go fish. It's not your call to make the judgement for someone else whether this feature has value or not to its owner. I'd bet the owner would say the lift was worth every penny he spent on it!
Money is clearly not a consideration when buying a boat in that league...

That guy kept this boat a couple slips down from mine a couple years ago. I was checking on my boat during a bad storm and all you could hear is this banging against the dock. I didnt have any spare fenders, felt bad for them
