- In Blackpool, a demolition team has two weeks to completely strip and destroy a 1950s church without causing damage to surrounding residential properties.

Yeah, this was my childhood Church (I lived a few doors down). I had a very spiritual experience in this Church so was slightly
traumatising when I saw this on national TV yesterday. Whatever, I am sure the relevant Spirit can find somewhere better to go. Sacred Spaces are thankfully in the mind of the receiver. Still slightly traumatised by this footage tho.
THE EXCAVATOR IS A GREAT MACHINE, BUT I WAS SHOCKED HOW EASILY IT CAME DOWN!!
THAT CHURCH WOULDNT HAVE A CHANCE IN A CALIFORNIA EARTHQUAKE OR A KANSAS TORNADO!
THE BRICK WORK WAS WELL DONE HOWEVER BUT ONLY APPEARS TO HAVE ONLY VERTICAL STRENGTH!

@@GrampiesCorner All of the wood is recycled or broken down into wood chip for fuel and the rubble will be crushed for hardcore. As for the windows, they're practically worthless.
@@GrampiesCorner he says at the 3 minute mark that they will sort it to sell wood and brick separately.

Why didn't they remove the piano before starting the demolition?
No point if it’s getting smashed up .
They are not valued like they used to be ....hardly anyone plays now
Have you tried to move a piano recently lol, it was a low grade instrument that would have cost more to move and repair than what's its worth. As Pete said it's sad but no one really wants them anymore

@@hesawarmspirit Actually the 1950's was the last decade were proportion, perspective and aesthetics still held some sway.
It's only in the last 20 years that it's sort of come back. Admittedly, this building was not an example to illustrate it
