  • I had 12 hours at Calgary and figured I'd explain how I made it more bearable. I slept for maybe 6 of the hours, was worth paying the money for.

You know the editor is a cat of culture with the Mario Kart music at 3:13. And I love how the people at 5:16 to the right are wearing cowboy hats because of course they are, it's Calgary lol. Not just Dublin, Shannon also has US border preclearance as well. The Shannon one opened in 1986 while the Dublin one opened in 2011. Shannon had theirs first because it's historically an airport for transatlantic services (like even Aeroflot used to stop there during Soviet times before continuing on to either Cuba or Angola). And Ireland just makes sense in general to have it as many Americans have Irish ancestry and thus, they travel to Ireland to discover their heritage. Another thing about Shannon, it was the world's first duty-free airport!

Meanwhile how to spend 12 hours at Singapore Changi, world's best airport for seven straight years from 2013 to 2019:
    - Watch free movies at the 24-hour movie theatres
    - Butterfly garden with over a thousand butterflies
    - A 27.32 SGD/20 USD pass (for ages 12 and above) at the Aerotel Hotel grants you unlimited access to their rooftop pool, hot showers, and jacuzzi.
    - Rooftop cactus garden and bar
    - Relax in the Jewel's forest and marvel at the world's tallest indoor waterfall
    - go down a four storeys high slide, the tallest slide in an airport!
    - Release your inner child at the Canopy Park (part of the Jewel) with walking nets, bouncing nets, mirror maze, slides, and a hedge maze.
    - Watch planes go by at the viewing malls

Shoutout to the editor, using the Hateno Village soundtrack from BOTW at 5:00. Only one track would have been better, and that's the riding song.

The riding song was considered, the issue with it here is that it wasn't quite the vibe

Why not dump your bags in a locker and walk around the city for an additional 10hours?

While I do often say I’m from “practically Canada” it’s really still NY and specifically the Adirondack area. Those chairs, sir, and Adirondack chairs.

In cases like this, I usually leave my luggage with the hotel's bellhop (just a couple dollars tip, and you can do it at any hotel- even one you didn't stay at) and explore the city for a couple hours before heading to the airport.

This is not a problem for boomers like me because we always get to the airport 12 hours early and bring several Russian novels to pass the time while getting plastered.

Reminds me of that time last summer I spent 8 hours in an airport trying to get back to Pittsburgh after our Puerto Rico flight was canceled with my sick with cancer husband, 13 y.o. son, and 5 y.o. daughter. Can’t remember if that was the same airport in NC where a (I must assume) drunk lady cussed me out for holding up the line (ignored her, didn’t care), then turned on my daughter (oh, Nellie, that was completely different, she has no idea how close she came to being punched out, or maybe she did, I’m sure my eyes dilated! 😡😡😡) and Mr. “I have a feeding tube now because I can only drink liquids, but I must still attempt to defend my lady folks!” came up behind me and distracted her so I could involve a staff member, or not. We were at two airports in NC that day. I had an awesome hubby! 🥲
