they was definitely written as just a joke of the "you run/fight/act like a girl" variety but it is way more fun to think of it as evidence that Otis is trans
13:10 Gene often refers to himself with feminine terms (sister, daughter, etc) and doesn't object when his family uses them. He's done drag or just put on feminine clothes several times for fun. He's also really gross. Gene embodies masculine and feminine traits, but more importantly he embodies pure chaos. That says genderfluid to me.
i like the creator of gravity falls, alex hirsch. he addressed the rumours that dipper was trans, he basically debunked it but said he was open to the head canon of it and to the possability of trans characters existing.
This is a little long but please bear with me. Trixie Lulamoon from My Little Pony is not as much trans coded, as she is a trans character that was held back from Hasbro being afraid of Rainbow People. Lauren Faust said there is a trans character in season 1, but didn’t elaborate, but if you look into the production history of season 1 you see Trixie was originally made to be a male, and still retained design elements unique to male ponies. Later in the Equestria Girls shorts & specials, director and storyboard artist, Katrina Hadley, has been trying to get LGBTQ+ characters in my little pony for years, including being able to sneak in a few lines alluding to Trixie being trans. She isn’t the only implicitly trans character, as Big Macintosh on two separate occasions wears drag. Mac never really talks besides from one or two words and is usually very quiet, but when he’s in drag he is way more excited and talkative, even having an entirely different voice when under his persona of “Orchard Blossom” Finally there is Rumble, who in his first appearance, despite being referred to as a male, he has a female model and a high pitched female voice, but in his second appearance, he retains the same female model and has a way deeper male voice. He also is eager to be just like his big brother.
You HAVE to watch gravity falls! It's one of the greatest animated shows to come from the past years of animation and it's really one of a kind! It's still one of my favourite shows and i don't like a lot of shows. Also dipper is absolutely trans coded but he isn't the only trans person in the show. Dipper isn't canonically trans but Grenda (one of mables best friends) is. Alex Hirsch (the shows creaor) is also a huge queer ally and a cool person overall! Edit: misremembered the creators name lol Another edit: oh no, editing removes hearts, i thought they had fixed this by now - oh well
I’m so surprised that I’ve not met more trans guys called Peter, Parker or Tom cos the amount of them I’ve met who like Spider-Man and its their special interest is crazy
Kai and Lloyd from lego ninjago are so trans coded, and honestly so are the rest of the ninja. They really just made all of them so queer lol i can’t believe it’s not canon.
YES Zane was my trans character. I would go into minecraft servers as an 8 year old and tell people my name was Zane. Literally a dude who is a robot and didn't realize it until he regained his memory. He literally found his true self and took advantage of that power. I love him so much TwT
Otis is practically confirmed trans, it isn't slap in the face obvious cuz a lot of people would be mad about it but it is facepalm obvious when you actually see the evidence. There was a passing comment by a character in the show that otis had a sister, then he was like oh wait that was you. Also he's straight up a dairy cow, udders and no horns, call that just character design all you want but if you've seen the difference between cows and bulls you'd get it.
Omg, never thought of Victor as trans coded and didn't think he is trans, but now that you point it out I can kind of see it. Also Bow had a whole thing with hiding who he truly is from his parents. Love that they totally accept him when they find out.
I always thought Varian from Tangled series was trans and norodivergent coded. I also just love him as a character. Wish he was able to get his own spin off show/comic.
Gravity falls is amazing, you must watch it. Also I don’t know a single queer person who’s seen the show that doesn’t have a head canon about a specific character being queer in some way. From closeted bi women, to trans kids, and all I between, Gravity Falls has something for everybody, please watch!
I dont want to poop on thos video coz its so funny and you're great. I just want to flag a one thing that if you did a part two, maybe you could reflect on. i understand that saying a person is "trans-coded" is nothing like calling them trans but i do think we should be aware that not everyone understands this difference and so by saying this about actual people rather than just the characters they portray, this could have potential damage in fueling the "transvestigation" scene which has already impacted both cis and trans athletes and actors. Ps. Also loved the backyardigsns!!
3:54 No, that episode was a parody of It's a Wonderful Life. Timmy wishes he was never born, then Jorgen shows him an alternate timeline where he was never born, with his parents having a daughter. The girl isn't Timmy. She's a different person, a different sperm who fused with the egg.
with jesse there's a scene where he draws a superhero who's like kangaroo man or smt and has a pouch, his girlfriend says only the females have the pouches and jesse is like well he's still a boy though
@@huskeater he just doesn't come across as a romantic person to me. Just look at all of his relationships. He's extremely platonic in all of them. I believe that they didn't use the term aromantic for him, because they didn't know about it at the time/knowledge was not very common on aromanticism. There were already many people who hadn't heard of asexuality before him, so the show creators probably wanted to tackle one thing first.
I always landed on Momo from Michael Ende's book, but that's mainly because the story starts with highlighting her ambiguous gender and refusal to disclose whether she's a boy or a girl, then does not much with it. Also solid Gravity Falls recommendation. It's the only show I've ever seen present twins well.
OKAY BUT WHY IS DOMICK FIKE SO REAL but i think what gives him that vibe is the way he dresses plus alot of his music focuses on his parents unhealthy relationship and esthasises on his mother in particuler (aka mamas boy and babydoll) and i feel like alot of trans ppl (myself included) feel alot of connection with individuals that have parental issues in some way
Sechs from the "Gunnm/Battle angel Last Order" manga, he's just litteraly a trans dude. He just changes for a male presenting body and uses he/him pronouns mid plot and everyone just goes along with it instantly and Iove it :3
A few things yes on gravity falls you need to watch it, yes on spiderman, yes on kim, yes on pretty much everyone. But i feel you so bad with the harry styles one because i see it too. And his song SHE kinda is a bit on the nose😂 oh and not really trans coded but i just see him as a trans guy, regulus black😂
Dude even the creator of gravity falls is all for like trans charakters like idk if he says dipper is trans bur he did want more lgbtq rep like love the guy
But harry styles is a real person ???? I think we've had enough of people assuming what energy a celebrity gives off. I think we need to careful as people have gotten hurt from these kinds of things.
Why is being trans coded hurtful? Also he’s someone who is so fluid in how he expresses his gender I really don’t think he’d be offended. He’s a huge advocate and inspiration for trans people around the world. I really don’t think he’d be offended. And honestly I don’t think there’s a reason to be. There’s nothing wrong w showing examples of transness when u aren’t trans. All it does is help others who are questioning their gender.
@HRTeaPodcast not saying trans coded is hurtful persay but when its comes to real people we should be a little careful with things as celebrities have been forced to come out when they didnt want to, I'm sure you meant no harm. I feel like somethings are for fictional characters that have no feelings and these things won't effect them.
Isn't Otis actually trans, like someone in the show brought up his (Otis') sister and then said "Oh wait that was you"
I wouldn't call it literally canon, but I fully subscribe to trans Otis
they was definitely written as just a joke of the "you run/fight/act like a girl" variety but it is way more fun to think of it as evidence that Otis is trans
He has utters. Male cows don't have utters. He's a 100% trans.

As a fellow trans man; I am peer pressuring to watch Gravity Falls. It's short (2 seasons) and the best animated show Disney has put out to date imo
On it 🫡

Hirschfeld's partner is the creator of The Owl House, so yes. Very LGBTQIA+ friendly.
!! Mabel was supposed to be bi! He also said it would be surprising if wendy wasn't bi.
Respect for adding both trans women and men
It's funny that you mentioned Percy Jackson, because I just finished the first book 😂
You should read Rick Riordan's other series, Magnus Chase. It has a canonically trans (well, trans and genderfluid) character.
@isobelmiller7464 I definitely plan on reading all his books for sure!
I haven't watched this yet but Mulan !
How’d I miss this
the forcing urself to stop talking about spiderman is so relatable. also PLEASE watch gravity falls! its so good
Lmaooo I woulda went on forever. And okay yes you’ve convinced me I shall 🫡
I’m so surprised that I’ve not met more trans guys called Peter, Parker or Tom cos the amount of them I’ve met who like Spider-Man and its their special interest is crazy
well theres a trans youtuber named miles but i dont think its after miles morales
Kai and Lloyd from lego ninjago are so trans coded, and honestly so are the rest of the ninja. They really just made all of them so queer lol i can’t believe it’s not canon.
Frfr like idk if its just me but all of their names sound so much like stereotypical trans guy names
i always saw jay as trans lmao
man definitely named himself after a crime (jaywalking real)
YES Zane was my trans character. I would go into minecraft servers as an 8 year old and tell people my name was Zane. Literally a dude who is a robot and didn't realize it until he regained his memory. He literally found his true self and took advantage of that power. I love him so much TwT
There is a background character with a non-binary flag patch on their jacket!! But agreed, the show is so queer coded

Ok I think these are obvious ones but Bow from She-Ra and Lars from Steven Universe are both just so deeply trans coded. And Viktor from Arcane
Omg, never thought of Victor as trans coded and didn't think he is trans, but now that you point it out I can kind of see it.
Also Bow had a whole thing with hiding who he truly is from his parents. Love that they totally accept him when they find out.
@MykaSilence ikr! Also his whole transformation and arcane body horror stuff just gives off some major trans themes
I always thought Varian from Tangled series was trans and norodivergent coded. I also just love him as a character. Wish he was able to get his own spin off show/comic.

Yeah I agree, I feel like that should have been clarified in the video or that it should have been about fictional characters rather than real people.

jesse pinkman will forever be my gender goals as a trans dude
same
Wait I have a nother EVERYYYYY POKEMON TRAINER EVER
Aaron Paul (Jesse from Breaking Bad) also voiced Todd in Bojack Horseman and I feel like Todd is a very trans coded character as well
Omg yes!!! I also think he's got to be aromantic.
@@egg_bun_ In the show he says himself that he's an Asexual Romantic, why do you say he's Aro?
@@huskeater he just comes across as one to me.
@@egg_bun_ Is there a specific scene or trope you have in mind that gives you that vibe?

I saw a puppet show interpretation of Momo where they used they/them pronouns for them. It was lovely. Momo has always been one of my favorite books

Mm yeah your so right abt that
@@HRTeaPodcast Thank you! :DD
7:16 for me it’s the fact that his name is Dominic
also I personally see Danny Phantom as very Intersex, idk why (pls does anyone else agree)
I feel like Mercy from Overwatch could be a trans woman idk why but it kinda fits???
I almost said mercy. I see it too

Hunter from the owl house and Shin from NANA 🕴️
I love the chaos and the mix of characters on the thumbnail, I was not ecpecting to see Dipper and Harry Styles today lol-
My trans character when I was younger was Zane from ninjago. I wanted to BE him lol
when you mentioned the backyardigans... yes
U get me
Rodney Copperbottom from Robots (2005)
awesome sauce :3
Most of the characters I think of as being trans coded come from anime. Like Vash from trigun or Motoko from Ghost in a shell.
I hadn't thought about Gene being trans specifically, I HC him as genderfluid.

RIGHT U GET IT. And ppl r getting mad at me for pointing out the transness in harry🙄. ITS RIGHT THERE I DIDNT HAVE TO SAY NOTHIN IT WAS RIGHT THERE.
I thought markiplier was in the thumbnail for a moment
11:47 bro is making JOI's now
The bff of Kim possible is also very trans
I didn't understand a lot of it probably cuz I'm not trans but I vibe with the Timmy Turner one. Like holy shit, I didnt know about that!
Wait not shaggy me fr but then again TvT
This made me giggle LOL
I prefer to see Uniqua as nonbinary.
I’M HERE BECAUSE OF PABLO
Dude even the creator of gravity falls is all for like trans charakters like idk if he says dipper is trans bur he did want more lgbtq rep like love the guy
wesley crusher from star trek tng is trans to me bc supposedly he was going to be a girl originally
