This documentary tries to trace the origin of the Fish in the history and culture of Awadh.
Diving deep into anecdotes,old monuments, royal descendants,historians and hard core Lucknow'ites, this film tries to retrieve precious pearls of information.
The mystery behind the presence of the Fish motif on diverse old architecture and even the state government's insignia is thus revealed.

Firstly, get your head out of this city and then you will realize that this symbol was not merely that of Lucknow but that of the entire princely state of Oudh. Oudh is a तद्भव mutation of अयोध्या.. which comprised of 16 present day districts of UP as one state. Before the Muslims, the Hindu rulers of Ayodhya had the रामायुध flanked by two mermaids, representing Ganga snd Yamuna, as their coat of arms. The Muslim rulers then made small modifications to the same before adopting it as their state symbol, because it was not as simple as changing a rubber stamp in earlier days. Depiction of humans and animals is against the aniconist doctrine of Islam.
