As someone who was on the titanic this is exactly how to was. We all slept at night with the lights on. Everyone had a convenient flashlight on them. There was a locked gate to every section of the boat so passengers couldn’t get out, so we had to look for the secret keys. Also by “we” I mean just me because I was the only person on the titanic. This simulation is spot on!

For realistic (nearly suicidal) level you must add fatigue, falling items, piles of rubble, cold temperature, water affecting speed of walking and slopes are making you fall and slide. And, obviously, there will be no pickaxes or keys laying around...and definitely no flashlight!
Funny thing - the moon is up in this video, as opposed to the real event. If the moon was up that night, revealing all the ice in the dark, the tragedy wouldn't happen. Oh well.

As a PC gamer myself, I weep for our kind. All this graphics power and ZERO fucking design & development talent. Seriously, 95% of the Steam library is complete junk. Console gaming = $$$ for devs. Making games is a business. Businesses want to make the most money for their product. PC gaming doesn't offer as much money for devs because virtually everyone has a differently specced PC. If they make a PC game they have to hope everyone's PC can run it (not likely), and they lose sales if people can't run it. They also would have to compete with the thousands of free PC games already on the market. On console, devs know the game they make will work on everyone's console because the specs are the same. This means the maximum possible buyers of their game will be on console. All about the $$$.

I think this applies to some degree to playing any game that has a historic backdrop. It's not like it does anything to actually disrespect the victims or survivors by portraying them in a disrespectful way.. You could apply your reasoning to anything. Why play race games racers have died during races so disrespectful? Why play a game like counterstrike, counterterrorism units and terrorists alike have lost lives in such situations!.. I think a virtual experience like this might (if done better though) actually create a better appreciation of what one must have gone through on that ship, the anxiety, locked gates, rising water and thus an increase of respect for the victims and survivors. Aside from not actually doing anything disrespectful at all, there is no one around any more with living memory of this event, it's not like it happened last year and this might hurt still grieving relatives. I highly approve of people playing a game like this (preferably executed better) if it's to experience what happened as well as to gain a bigger appreciation for the victims and survivors, however because this is such a specific historical event, it makes me uncomfortable that some would play this game for fun or just to have content for TH-cam. Not saying this user did it for that, but I imagine there are many that don't really empathize with the history that this game is representing. It's just easy to dissociate reality from the game, but being so sad about the story of titanic makes it difficult to hop on board (no pun intended) with a game like this. It's not the most recent nor the worst ship disaster so I don't quite understand, just curiosity. Sadly (well maybe not..) I have not survived any disasters (yet? oO) so I can't really say how I'd feel about simulating something more recent that I might have been involved in directly or lost someone in. The biggest potentially gamifiable(tm) "disaster" I've personally gone through was being attacked with a car and getting a trip on the hood until I flew off. InnSewerAnts I think the one thing that does it for me with the Titanic is that it was so sudden. People went there expecting a wonderful time and died. Not just that, but when they had the lifeboats and only allowed "women and children" (of course only the rich women and children first), they were separating the families and I can't imagine being separated from my boyfriend like that. Actually, that scene they depicted with the old couple in the bed at the end of the movie where they were hugging and basically decided to die together, they were based on a real couple that died on the titanic. She refused to leave him, so they essentially died holding each other. Something else... so many children died. And just the thought of kids being so absolutely terrified right before they go into ice cold waters and die... It's just hard for me to think about. This event wasn't an act of war. These people had no idea drowning was even a risk because Andrews was dead sure the sink was unsinkable. Just makes it extremely sad to me. I'm assuming that's why this hits harder than war games and others.

I think one thing that needs to be addressed is that some of the water came up through the lower decks and as far down as the boiler rooms and every other room along the way. Coal floats along with the oil, and all the other crap on board that floats. It's not gonna look like pool water.

The point of the game is to try and simulate what it may have been like if you were on the titanic while it was sinking. I dont think the intention was to make light of a tragedy that happened nearly 100 years ago.

As a PC gamer myself, I weep for our kind. All this graphics power and ZERO fucking design & development talent. Seriously, 95% of the Steam library is complete junk. Where are all these amazing games that take advantage of PC hardware? It's nothing but multi-platform hits from consoles that are actual quality made games from start to end.
Console gaming = $$$ for devs. Making games is a business. Businesses want to make the most money for their product. PC gaming doesn't offer as much money for devs because virtually everyone has a differently specced PC. If they make a PC game they have to hope everyone's PC can run it (not likely), and they lose sales if people can't run it. They also would have to compete with the thousands of free PC games already on the market. On console, devs know the game they make will work on everyone's console because the specs are the same. This means the maximum possible buyers of their game will be on console. All about the $$$.

+Nikki Ex Dee Perhaps people want to play it just to get a tiny bit of the experience of trying to survive a sinking ship without any actual sinking and risk or just to witness a historic event personally in virtual reality (living history)? I think this applies to some degree to playing any game that has a historic backdrop.
It's not like it does anything to actually disrespect the victims or survivors by portraying them in a disrespectful way..
You could apply your reasoning to anything. Why play race games racers have died during races so disrespectful? Why play a game like counterstrike, counterterrorism units and terrorists alike have lost lives in such situations!.. It becomes a little bit daft at a certain point.
I think a virtual experience like this might (if done better though) actually create a better appreciation of what one must have gone through on that ship, the anxiety, locked gates, rising water and thus an increase of respect for the victims and survivors. Personal experience does that, even virtual ones (though obviously not the same thing, it's better than nothing).
Aside from not actually doing anything disrespectful at all, there is no one around any more with living memory of this event, it's not like it happened last year and this might hurt still grieving relatives.
This is no more or less disrespectful than making a blockbuster romance film taking place during the disaster but I bet you thought that was disrespectful too.

I highly approve of people playing a game like this (preferably executed better) if it's to experience what happened as well as to gain a bigger appreciation for the victims and survivors, however because this is such a specific historical event, it makes me uncomfortable that some would play this game for fun or just to have content for TH-cam. Not saying this user did it for that, but I imagine there are many that don't really empathize with the history that this game is representing. It's just easy to dissociate reality from the game, but being so sad about the story of titanic makes it difficult to hop on board (no pun intended) with a game like this.
Does that make me a hypocrite because I do play CS:GO? Absolutely. I won't deny that. It's just this specific game that makes me really upset.

It's not the most recent nor the worst ship disaster so I don't quite understand, just curiosity.
Sadly (well maybe not..) I have not survived any disasters (yet? oO) so I can't really say how I'd feel about simulating something more recent that I might have been involved in directly or lost someone in.
The biggest potentially gamifiable(tm) "disaster" I've personally gone through was being attacked with a car and getting a trip on the hood until I flew off. If anyone wants to make a " hold on to the hood after a maniac intentionally runs his car into you"-simulator. I hereby give my blessings and won't feel disrespected if someone actually makes this after seeing my comment lol..
I won't buy it though, been there done that and all, don't need a repeat after the real thing but I can see how it could perhaps be funny or exciting as a game experience.

I guess personally I can't see simply depicting an event as disrespectful, the more accurate the more respectful in a sense. There has to be more specifically to make it disrespectful imho. Of course being interactive is it's own pitfall in that regard but I only look at the dev's intentions for that exact reason.

InnSewerAnts I think the one thing that does it for me with the Titanic is that it was so sudden. People went there expecting a wonderful time and died. Not just that, but when they had the lifeboats and only allowed "women and children" (of course only the rich women and children first), they were separating the families and I can't imagine being separated from my boyfriend like that.
Actually, that scene they depicted with the old couple in the bed at the end of the movie where they were hugging and basically decided to die together, they were based on a real couple that died on the titanic. She refused to leave him, so they essentially died holding each other.
Something else... so many children died. And just the thought of kids being so absolutely terrified right before they go into ice cold waters and die... It's just hard for me to think about. This event wasn't an act of war. These people had no idea drowning was even a risk because Andrews was dead sure the sink was unsinkable. Just makes it extremely sad to me. I'm assuming that's why this hits harder than war games and others.

So even though it's just as tragic, it doesn't hit you as hard because you've already been exposed to it since you were a tiny child (The war games).

I think one thing that needs to be addressed is that some of the water came up through the lower decks and as far down as the boiler rooms and every other room along the way.

there use to be a game called Titanic it was a game for windows XP, was a great game i use to play it back in the days of XP, in my opinion it was the better game then this but that is just my say on that not in any-way saying Titanic Sinking Simulator is a bad game, from what i see its a good one.. back when i use to play Titanic and got finally got access to the bride id mess with the wheel then think someone said something like "seamen check course"
