Your actually a pretty good teacher and a talented seat builder/upholsterer, thank you for the series of videos on this build. All the best from Australia 👍🍻🇦🇺🥃
We personally almost never use it. Some people use it to make ease of cover installation . Other people use it for water resistance however we find it traps the water between the seat cover and foam. Also the foam under the plastic still receives moisture and that is now trapped in the foam. We like to let them air breath
Quick question ! i tried the tape for pattern but where the tape has more rounded shape it doesnt transpose well on the vinyl because the tape doesnt stretch right so the markings doesnt line up ! how do you cope with that ? Do you cut the tape so it can lay flat ?
You have to make sure you are not forming your tape. Let the tape stay flat as it is normally. If you can not do this make sure to pattern with thick plastic instead .
The pattern has to be perfect. Make your marks and then separate the pattern. Their are many reason’s alignment marks don’t line up. Stretch of material, adding sew foam to the back. All these need to be factored in when patterning. Hope that helps. If not please feel free to send us pics or videos of your problem and we will gladly help you out. Stay on it , keep focused and soon enough you’ll look back and laugh at what you thought were problems.
I really enjoy listening to you. Can't say that about everyone. Good teaching. Enjoy your channel

Nice..any plans of making a video on seat cushion? The grades and the ratio to be used along with its density?
Didnt realize the one way stretch of the vinyl! Thanks for tip. I need to test material to see what it does before patterning and panel stretching.
I appreciate the work and repeated videos help us learn. Thank you
Watch me try this on my $100 Singer! Yep, it will be fine.
Good luck. If you have any questions we are here to help. Thanks
Thanks very much for explaining the patterning. I was having trouble thinking when you need a pattern and when you don’t for a motorcycle seat.

Just found your channel, New Subscriber!!
Great video Thanks for sharing.
What foam do you use over the rebond foam?
We actually us a lot of different foams. It depends on riders height, weight and riding style.
What do you use to mark on black vinyl or leather? Thx for the video! Easiest way to pattern I've seen. 👍
Typically we use silver space pens.
Should I put thin plastic wrap on seat before putting on seat cover? Thanx

عمل رائع يا صديقي
Is that painters tape?
@@jennifersmith6138 yes we just use the cheap tape for this that doesn’t stick well.
Do you do custom work? And do you have a web site where I can get in contact with you?
www.atomicautoworks.com thanks
